I would love to know what it is, it is not a horrible problem, just something I am curious about. The pain seems to follow a branch network, almost like what I would imagine the nerve system to look like. Don't know if that is what it feels like for everyone else? In addition, I eat a lot of fruit and veg and drink lots of 100% fruit juices, so definitely don't have a deficiency of vitamin C.
Thanks

I've been asking my doctor about this temporary pain I get behind both of my ears when I drink alcohol. I find that it happens mostly when I am drinking sweet and sour mixed drinks, but I'm not sure if that is the culprit. I've been trying to get answers about it, because when it happens it is quite painful behind my ears for a few hours. Then it goes away.
The other day I sipped on a carbonated beverage during the behind the ear pain episode, and I noticed the symptoms instantly got severe, I had to spit out the soda and put it down until the ear pain went away.
So far no doctor has been able to tell me what is going on.
One Health educator mentioned it could be an allergic reaction and my tissues behind my ears are swelling. I've been online trying to find more answers, hopefully we'll get some.
Have you learned anything new?
I get the exact same thing sometimes when I drink alcohol. A friend of mine who is not even a doctor told me that it is from a lack of Vitamin C and he told me to drink either orange, pineapple or grapefruit juice and the pain will go away. Sure enough he was right. The pain goes away instantly when I eat or drink something that has a lot of Vitamin C in it. The relief is instant. The pain behind my ears go away immediately.
i am 26 years old, and drinking alcoholics about 9 years now, always suffered pain in my bones after drinking especially forearm and leg bones and also headache. then someone told me it's because of the lack of water, from then i drink enough water after drinking alcoholics, and i have no problems with bone ache now.
i have used many different kinds of drinks, vodka, whiskey, wine, beer, even pure ethanol! and never experienced ache in my ears and jaw, but now i get that bad pain after drinking a beer that i made myself, not all of my products, but some of them, i guess it has something to do with overload of saccharomyces cerevisiae, or maybe something that i eat with my drink (ate pizza with my beer tonight and got that pain)
anyway after searching google i got to this thread and some other, where they suggested vitamin c, i made a cup of vitamin c drink and while i got a really bad pain in my jaws for opening my mouth to drink, the pain was really gone while finishing the drink!
still i don't know it was for vitamin c or water, i will try water next time to know that :p
But more of then then not I don't get it at all, this time I got with beer and looked it up as it seemed odd to feel any effects like this after a 1/4 of a can of beer... before I assumed it was something to do with excessive alcohol consumption. Now I have plenty of juice and have Berrocca on a daily basics so didn't think the vitamin c thing would work as I get well other the RDA each day, just had some vitamin C and the pain went.... how gay! Thanks for the advice
