Pancreatitis. Been there, hurts like hell and I now have a calcified pancreas. Drink is the biggest cause so get yourself checked. Its a killer and drink is just not worth it.

This happened to me too, everyone thought I was crazy for feeling it in my right shoulder. It stopped when I stopped drinking really sweet drinks like Amaretto and Sweet n sour. Never found out the cause!

My husband has been suffering from the same thing. He is a very light drinker, however periodically has been plagued with the same symptoms listed above after just a single drink (mostly mixed drinks, he does not drink beer).  Severe abdominal pain, massive bloating and gas followed by diarreah.  It was so bad this weekend when he was traveling alone, that he nearly called an ambulance to take him to the hospital.  We are trying to see if there is a pattern and have noticed a possible correlation with eating dairy products just prior to drinking (just a theory).  In response to a previous post, my husband is also on Effexor ER.   Since this does not happen every time he drinks, it has been difficult to pinpoint a cause.  He had his appendix removed as a child, so we can rule that out.  I may have him go get his pancreas checked just to rule that out as well.

I'm having same issue! I had one rum and coke last night and a few hrs later had serious bloating and gas, you could see it a stomach in my intestines and then this morning diarrhea.. I don't eat any dairy, on no prescriptions. It happened last time I had ONE drink too.

Hi, I am 65 and going through the exact same thing.I am a colon cancer survivor and began to drink around 10 yrs ago. Google doesn't care what we do, and gives me the facts not judgement. It has something to do with digestive system. Go online and just tell your facts. The sites are huge and there are a bunch of us. from old to young like you. GOOD LUCK

I know this an old post but it may still help some people in the same current situation. The same thing happened to me off and on a year ago. They at first thought I had an ulcer but then ended up violently throwing up so I headed to the ER. Turns out I had a stone that was obstructing a bile duct therefore the alcohol was overloading my liver. I ended up having it removed and am completely better. Hope this helps someone!

Well I am unfortunately a part of this "club" we all seem to have found ourselves in. I have had the stomach pains after drinking off and on for years now. Here recently it happens everytime, like today which brought me on the google, search and to this forum. My family gave me a "surprise" house warming last night(I knew about it , but hey I told them the surprise was seeing people i hadn't seen and wasn't expecting to see..lol). Anyway there was lots of alcohol and lots of food. I had a drink when guest first arrived and it basically spoiled the night for me , there was pans and pans of good food, that just had no appetite to eat, and of course the leftovers here..I haven't had one bite of anything that was bought here..smh.I woke up with the stomach pains everyone is talking about and the pain seems to not be as bad as when I woke up, but still no appetite. So after reading through the many post and seeing the different ideas on what might be the cause I've come to the conclusion that we all.are having these pains after we drink, but I think the reason people can't find a cure/remedy is because it's not just one cause why alcohol effects stomach so it's hard to pin done one cure/remedy.For me I think it's related to acid reflux that I was diagnosed with years ago. I'm 52 and am past my partying/drinking days so although I hate the idea of quitting alcohol , it's not gonna be that hard for me. I wish there was another solution, but right now quitting is the only choice I have, drinking is just not worth this feeling the next day.I will be keeping my eyes out for an alternate solution , and will definitely share if i come across a definitive "cure:..but for now...no booze for this guy.

Hi, so far everything you have explained sounds like a pancreatic problem, inflammation of the pancreas, which I too have experienced. Exactly the same, symptoms. Only remedy is to stop drinking and allow the pancreas to rest, avoid high fat foods too, as these are hard to digest with a problematic pancreas.. Alcohol and pancreatitis do not mix, I have been hospitalised several times for the same thing..........good luck, and you can find lots of info online, just look for pancreatitis, you'll be supprised to learn more about your symptoms.....cheers mick

I have had the same thing for TWENTY YEARS. I have a bunch of medical issues and never wanted to seem like a hypochondriac so I've never said anything to a doctor BUT recently I stumbled upon a CURE! WATER! If I DRINK WATER with my drink or before it I do NOT get the pain!!! I discovered this recently when I was having the pains and my hubby made me drink water. LIKE F'N MAGIC.. THE PAIN STARTED TO EASE UP AND WENT AWAY!!! I hope this works for you too!! Good luck!

I too am on Wellbutrin and concerta and after drinking a little too heavily last night I am bent over with sharp stabbing pain. I had my appendix removed while in junior high so I know that is not the cause..
