Hey, everyone out there! I had a lower face lift along with a neck lift just 5 days ago. My entire face is bruised blue, black, green, and yellow. I have two black eyes, but no surgeries were performed in that area. I am so swollen I look like a different person. I can already see great improvement, though; tight neck, no jowls. I'm sure it will settle down and look perfect. I do have a serious problem with shooting pains in my neck and the back of my neck to my shoulder blades. It is so excruciating that it brings tears to my eyes. My surgeon gave me only 10 of the lowest dose of Vicodin. I see him tomorrow and will demand something for this nerve pain and I'm not taking no for an answer. I, too, was told that I would feel only pressure, no pain. I was informed it would take at least several months to heal but I feel cheated and lied to because of the pain which causes me to not turn my head or nod or even open my mouth enough to brush my back teeth. I can only hope he will do the right thing and help me because I know this is not normal and will not be able to live this way for an entire six months to a year. I don't care if it's pain pills, steroids, NSAIDs, muscle relaxers, or some type of typical creme. Thanks for reading this. I feel better having posted it.

OMG I feel so much better after reading your post. Im NOT a freak!
I had a full face lift with upper and lower eye surgery. I too was told 2 weeks and back to work would be no problem. I travel for work and was even cleared to fly. Well, my 3rd week of healing, I thought i looked like bride of Frankenstein, but I figured no one knew me at the site I was going to, and I HAVE to work. Well, when I got off the plane, the swelling was so bad, and the side of my face was purple. I struggled in pain for 2 days, until I finally apologized and cut my trip short and went home. I am now 4 weeks post op, and I definitely do NOT look normal yet. My neck and jaws are so swollen, with several hard "ropes" running across my neck. People at work are constantly asking "What happened to you?" I just tell them "you should see the other guy"! Humor is all I can do so I dont cry. My cheeks and neck are so hard and swollen still. Doctor ordered a series of ultra sound to try and soften up the skin and promote healing. My ears hurt and I cant sleep on my side. I have many of the symptoms you all describe. I feel better now knowing I need to be patient, and let myself heal.

I had a neck, lower face and upper and lower eye lift almost 4 weeks ago and am feeling all the same things every one is feeling! I still can't sleep on the sides of my face, too painful and one incision behind my left ear feels irritated!
My eye shape has changed because I had hooded eyelids! But in time I feel it will all soften! I'm going to live my smoother neckline and having eyelids! Two more weeks till my 6 week check up! I hope he has good things to say!

I know this post is old but I hope you're still out there! You are the only one who mentioned the crooked mouth! Did your mouth just all of a sudden resolve? I've been hiding for 5 weeks now except to go for post op visits. My right side sucks! I can't smile, they say don't worry it will heal with time, but what they didn't tell me is I'd look like the bride of Chucky after having my eyes done! I'm losing it. Please tell me your mouth healed overnight & someone else tell me my eyes will look normal soon ....

I'm not sure if your still having a problem after your message a year ago..I had a partial facelift in March 2018. It's now May and my ear is still killing me,the tightness in my neck is horrible...I always feel like I'm being strangled...it's the worse thing I ever have done. ..I would never never recommend it to any one to do...search other options. ..I was told my Dr was a seasoned Dr...Well he should be out of season. ...any help for me...

I am 14 days out with minimal swelling (no one noticed this week at work). Minimal pain. The worst day was the day after. I used Arnica pills 5 days before 3x a day and Arnica after 2-3x a day (still using) and Arnica spray. At my post op at 12 days, my surgeon said I looked extremely well. Didn’t find it that painful. Tight would be the word. I had a face, forehead and neck lift.

I am a very healthy 52 year old at a fit weight. I had a facelift, and forehead, neck lift. I am 14 days post op and feel fabulous! The day after was painful and after that pressure. I worked out gently on the elliptical the 4th day and after that. Helps with circulation. I used Arnica 5 days before 3x a day and took Bromoline. I have continued with that and added Arnica spray to my face and neck whenever I think about it. I went back to work 10 days after and no one noticed, just asked if I was tired (had to conceal black eyes a bit by then). I look 32 already and still have swelling to heal....

I had the same surgery and went back to work at 10 days and no one noticed. Just asked if I was tired. Have swelling still but just look a bit chubby.

Thank you for sharing, I, too, am surprised at the very slow process of recovery. Of course, I am only 3 weeks and 2 days from the surgery. I am very swollen, hard, lumpy and still a little yellow green on my checks. I also had upper and lower eyelid surgery and at this point I must say that my eyes also look smaller than previous to surgery. I also have a little somewhat painful lump at the end of each brow bone just above the upper eyelid.
I have also experienced little electric shocks in my neck and cheek area, have you had this?
I am assuming it is the feeling of the tiny nerves reconnecting. At least, I hope so.

Thank you Pumpkin75 for this info. I am only 3 weeks and 2 days out from my face/neck lift and having a lot of mixed emotions about this surgery. I realize I must be patient with this process and not become upset with the surgeon. It's unfortunate for those of us that do not heal quickly as shown in so many YouTube videos. After watching many of those great 3 week success stories, it really makes you doubt yourself and your surgeon. Reading the posts on here has been reassuring to me.
