I need to know this, I go tomorrow to get my thyroid checked out, and I want them to know I am feeling these lumps around my collarbone, above my collarbone and one near my thyroid, it hurts really really bad to touch them
my lymph nodes are extremely swollen as well and I have had chronic fatigue, weakness, tiredness, muscle aches, cold sweats and so much more with this, I did get a mono test and it came out negative, but I was exposed to mono from my fiance, and my blood cells were said to be trying to turn mono, so I can't tell if I am feeling effects of mono, cancer, hypothyroidsm or thyroid cancer, I am so stressed out and worried, I try to not think of the worst things, but I can't help it, it scares me, especially feeling these lumps
the one near my thyroid is about the size of a small grape, the other ones feel smaller than that, but I didn't feel those yesterday when I was checking, these developed just over night, so I am really scared
plus my T4 was high, it was 17.1 and my TSH was 5.45, and my fiance's mom said she suspected hypothyroidsm, I'm worried about that, I am worried about cancer, I am worried about thyroid cancer
can you guys help me out? Please tell me I am not getting cancer :-(

First and foremost, the best diagnosis you will get is from your doctor. I know that you are extremely anxious right now but the best thing to do is not get worried until you have a final diagnosis. From these boards, we can talk about experiences and offer some words of support. I can tell you that if the lump you are feeling is painful, it is likely not a cancerous lump but a lymph node in reaction to your disease. But again, I'm not a doctor so I can't say for sure. The best I can tell you is to take some breaths and relax--however this turns out, you will be able to handle it. Keep us posted. We're all pulling for you!
Hi:
You will feel so much better after you see the doctor. I'm glad that you will be doing that soon. The doctor is the only one that can conclusively diagnose you. I can offer some comfort, however. Thyroid cancer, if caught in time, is very treatable. I had a full thyroidectomy 1 year ago. The after affects are minimal to none, provided you take the medication (1 pill per day). Also, thyroid cancer, if that's what you are dealing with, moves VERY slowly. I don't know that you would have cysts popping up over night. Your swollen lymph nodes simply mean that you may have some sort of infection. Everything doesn't turn out to be cancer. Yes your T4 was high, but cancer is a leap without info and testing from medical professionals. In addition, it sounds like the mono may be a real possibility, despite the negative test. They will probably test you again. Try to relax. The stress can't be good for your health. Just know that you will have answers soon. Please let us know what you find out and how you are doing. Good Luck!

thank you guys so much for all the comforting words and advice, it really means a whole lot, I am so glad to come to a place and express my fears and having people on my side and helping me through my fear
I just got back from the doctor, went good so far, got my blood taken for several of tests including CBC w/ diff., B12 Level, Folic Acid, serum, TSH, Vit D 25 Hyrdroxy, and Mono test, she said it's possible I could have mono, but me being tired could indicate something more serious, I'll find out results on Wednesday, I am really really nervous about my results, I mean cause right now, anything is possible
Waiting for the rest of today and tomorrow will be a killer, cause I'll be nervous and stressing about the results, but I am trying to keep my head up and think positive, maybe it IS just mono, but even mono sucks, but I rather get that than hypothryodism or cancer, but..you know..you just never know :-( I am sure apart of the reason they did a white cell count test is to make sure that they aren't high and its leading towards cancer..I hope not, ugh
as far as I am feeling, I am feeling the same, I am feeling extremely tired, chronic fatigue, my neck hurts, my body hurts, my thyroid hurts, my lymph nodes hurts, i feel feverish even though my temperature is normal, I feel cold sweats, I look and feel pale..ect
and a new symptoms have occured, more pain in my spleen area, and feeling a hard time to catch a breathe
like I have told alot of people, the way I feel right now, I feel like a freaking cancer patient, and that's not even meaning in a joking manner, I honestly do
just please keep me in your prayers, and I will keep you all updated on everything, especially the results
love you all.

Just be aware as well that stress and anxiety can also cause some symptoms that look like something scarier, like the new pain that has developed in your spleen. Personally for about six months I had serious migraines that had no apparent cause until I started meditating on a regular basis, then they disappeared. I am pretty sure to this day that it was caused by anxiety. If you can just be calm and relax, I know that you will be okay. Keep us posted on how it goes!
While I like to agree, but I would also say that I doubt it's anxiety or stress causing my symptoms, they are all way too real to be just caused by stress or anxiety, I do things to keep my mind off of it and still find myself feeling awful as ever
I am patiently awaiting the phone call that will give me my results, this morning I woke up with a very sore throat, and I looked at my throat, it was red, and my right tonsil looks to becoming swollen, so I MIGHT actually have Mono, but for some reason, Mono isn't the only thing I think I have considering I was told there was something funny going on with my thyroid, so all of that is being checked as well as a full CBC.
she even said the tiredness I am feeling could be a number of things but could also be a underlying problem or something serious, so I don't know what to think
I am trying to keep calm about it, I am so tired of feeling this way though, it's a never ending battle with me, one thing right after another, I am a target for all health problems, and I am not just saying it to say it, I am being serious
yesterday I walked outside with my dad and found myself more out of breathe quicker than usual and becoming dizzy, my face turned pale and I looked absolutely sick, and my left side murdered me once again
so I don't think its just stress or anxiety doing it, I have a feeling SOMETHING, whatever it is, is going on
my body hates me...well not my body, more so my organs, blah
i'll keep you all updated

Well, I was throwing ideas out just to make sure because I know that sometimes patients get themselves whipped into a frenzy and that doesn't really help your situation at all. It sounds like you've calmed a bit since first posting so I'm glad to see that because you seemed really stressed the first time! Not that anyone else in your situation wouldn't be stressed either--but calm is the best policy. I appreciate that you've kept us updated. Thanks for that! And today, you are going to do great. I know it.
I know hun and I appreciate that very much -hugs- I have calmed down since the first posting, because I am trying to keep my head up and be strong, and I have tried to not think about it, even though on the inside I am going insane with stress, but like you said stress really doesn't help the situation, so I am kinda taking in a deep breathe, praying, and be ready for whatever is given to me in my results today.
Your so very welcome, and I will continue to keep you updated as I get my results and how everything is going with me, and thank you, that means alot, I hope I do great today, just depends what's handed to me in my results, I can handle just mono, but I don't want to hear anything else worse, that's my biggest fear
oh I should probably mention this too and maybe you could help me out, lastnight underneath my right arm was hurting so much, it felt like a pull, but when I started feeling around, I felt rather hard lumps underneath my armpit, I don't know if its because my lymph nodes are going crazy and are swollen, or if those are lumps I should be worried about
it seems like all my lymph nodes have gone crazy too, I feel them in my neck, back of my neck, underneath my arm, on my chest, and around where my ovaries are, should I be worried that all of my lymph nodes are going crazy?

Well, whatever you're sick with, having swollen lymph nodes is natural. Even if you had a normal cold or fever, you would have swollen lymph nodes. As far as I know, the lumps that you're feeling are the same as the ones you were talking about being on your collarbone, and it's something you'll be hearing about from your doctor. I guess the best I can still suggest is relaxing and finding ways to put it out of your mind. Thanks for keeping us posted on your situation--and keep doing so that we can provide you some support!

thank you for all your care and concern, sorry it's been a while since I last updated, I did get my blood test results back, I didn't have mono, my vitamin D was low, and ---drum roll please---
I have hyperthyroidism, I got started on thyroid meds right away and the first batch made me so sick that I was throwing up every 5 minutes, up to about 8 times or more, and I was feeling every bit of the side effects, I was miserable, so I stopped those, and started a new kind, so far they have treated me alot better than the last ones
but now..the dreaded mono has finally caught up with me and now I am done with it, I get my blood rechecked next week or so, so I will be going to get another thryoid test, as well as another mono test, which I am sure it will be positive this time
my tonsils are very red and swollen with white spots, my throat hurts so bad, I can't move much without feeling sick, I'm pale, I have been having off and on spleen and liver pain, I feel so sick, hot and cold constantly, I can't get comfortable, I got everything that the dreaded stupid mono consists of
:-(
it sucks

I am sorry that you are still so uncomfortable, but I am glad that the thyroid issue was diagnoses. It would have eventually been life-threatening for you not to have that treated. Are you sure that the white spots in your throat are only related to the mono. Have you been checked for strep throat? That's a condition that can turn into damaged heart valves if it is not treated. It sounds like you are staying in touch with your doctor and that's great. I know that you will be feeling better soon. Please keep me updated. Take care.
It's okay, I've been resting alot as much as I can, and trying to sleep it off when its at it's worst. I am glad too that I got the thyroid issue diagnosed cause I know how serious it can be if its not diagnosed, but I didn't realize that hyperthyroidism is kinda dangerous, especially developing thyroid storms, which I hope that never happens, but I read on some of it lastnight and it sounded scary
which makes me wonder if mono can cause thyroid storms to occur, cause I think I read somewhere that a illness can create a thyroid storm to happen, and I really don't want that to happen, plus the anti thyroid medicine makes me more prone to sickness's and illnesses cause it lowers my immune system, could something like mono make me have more complications than normal because my immune systems inability to fight it?
I am pretty sure it's related to mono, my fiance had mono and had the white spots, he looked at my throat and said his looked exactly the same as mine when he had mono and I seen his when he had it, it looked just like mine, my tonsils are getting bigger and the spots are more noticeable, and my throat feels more closed than normal, like its harder to down things and sometimes I find myself gasping for a breathe
the next time I get my blood taken, I can ask them to do a strep culture to see if it might be strep, but I have a bigger feeling its the mono, I am experiencing all the things my fiance did, it's been absolute misery, and I think I am just getting into the acute phase of it, or almost at the acute phase, it sucks :-(
thanks sweetie, that means alot, and I will definitely keep you updated, you take care as well! :-)

Hi:
It doesn't sound like you are getting better. The throat issue sounds worse, that's why I really think that you should get a throat culture right away to rule out strep. Even if it appears to be a part of the mono. You referred to the thyroid med as "anti-thyroid." What did you mean by that? I really hope you will get the throat culture, especially if you are having trouble breathing because of the problem. It can't hurt. I also hope that you will start feeling better soon, but you've got to be sure about things. Please let me know what you think.

Hi Ash. I know that it's been a couple weeks since you last posted but I was really curious to see how you are doing because it sounds like you were having a hard time and that you were feeling really anxious and bad. So if you could please give us an update, I for one would really appreciate it. Thanks!
