I am a couch potato. I hate everything physical. However, my doctor was clear; either I lose 20 pounds, become physically active and change my diet or I will end up with a heart attack, stroke or something similar. I have started to run with my wife and another couple. However instead of feeling better I feel bad with every running. What is going on?
You said it yourself. You hate everything physical. Now you have to engage in a hated physical activity against your will. And you wonder why you are feeling bad. Nobody feels good doing something they hate to do. You are not an exception. However, you may consider this: you are spending more time with your wife and friends and you are doing yourself a major favor. In fact, provided that you stick to your doctors instructions regarding the diet and weight, you are extending your life. Or preventing premature death. Whichever you like it. So changing your mental attitude towards running will make you feel better during and after the run. Wait until you lose a few pounds and start receiving positive signals from your body. You will feel much better and my guess is that nobody will be able to keep you away from those runs.
