Well, well, well.... I am FINALLY going on to metformin!!! I have asked my doctor to do this a long time ago but he thought I could get my blood sugar down on my own. So I harped on him so now I am getting it. I knew I couldn't get my sugars down by myself. I didn't tell him but I didn't follow his diet and I didn't exercise like he wanted me to. I just can't do it. I love my potato chips and I am not the type to exercise so that is that I can't help that fact. I am who I am. Now this Metformin can control my sugars so I can continue to do the things I am happy doing.
I am glad you are getting the help you need for your blood sugars, but I am concerned about your way of taking care of yourself and your blood sugars on your own. I am thinking that you see metformin as a protector against the food you eat rather than working to help you control your blood sugars. If you continue to eat haphazardly, you will burn out your pancreas soon than later. You will then have to go on insulin injections because your pancreas will not be working anymore. You will have more difficulties because of trying to regulate your blood sugars with insulin. It is much better that your own pancreas can produce its own insulin so you will want to take care of it. When your body uses its own insulin, the regulatory system works much better than giving yourself exogenous insulin, which is where you may risk hypoglycemia. Please try to modify your diet to lower your blood sugar naturally and help protect your pancreas. It will cause less problems for you later on.
