When you go online to research medical problems, such as....reading of people's gall bladder experiences, keep in mind that for the most part, people who have had good experiences never come online to post about it. You only find all the horror stories.
I myself have been petrified after reading certain stories, and I am scheduled for gall bladder surgery on the 17th of November.
i have never had an actual gall bladder attack, but let me tell you my story.

For over 20 years now, I have had episodes of racing between sitting on the loo or standing up over it. There was no rhyme or reason to when this would occur, and I would usually feel better once the activity in the bathroom was over.
However, lately, there is no time to go between sitting and standing. I now had to sit with a bucket in front of me.
So what is causing it? All the doctors seemed puzzled and passed it off as being IBS.
well, after this last episode, I didn't bounce back to normal. I have been nauseated, bloated, waking up in the middle of the night with a gnawing burning pain in the pit of my stomach. Oh yeah... for the last few years I can fall asleep just sitting watching my favorite TV show.... ( just tired all the time)
The ultrasound showed shadowing in the gall bladder area, but the CT scan showed nothing. The doctor referred me to a surgeon. The surgeon said my gall bladder needed to come out.... I had a CD of the ultrasound results that I wanted him to look at ( since I didn't really trust my doctor), but he said he didn't need to see them. He just read the report.
I didn't like that! I wanted a second opinion by VIEWING the pictures of the ultrasound.
So... I asked for a Hideascan. The surgeon said I could have one, but he was sure it would only support what he already found on the ultrasound report.
The Hideascan showed a refraction rate of 19%. They want it to be at least 38%. So even though I have had no gall bladder attack with all the pain you hear about, I guess I have a sick gall bladder.
I got sick on the table during the Hideascan. The tech assured me it didn't necessarily mean something was wrong with my gall bladder, but then they are trained NOT to give any information out about the test results...... ( yeah! riiiiiiiiight) I have been really feeling crummy ever since the Hideascan.... real nauseated, and every time I go to the bathroom I have poo along with it......didn't have any of that BEFORE the Hideascan.,

I just want to feel better. Instead of coming online to read all the horror stories, ask friends and people you KNOW who have had the surgery. I think it will make you feel better about your decision to go ahead with the surgery!

I am still scared s***less about having this done, but I just want to feel better. I am a school bus driver and it scares me that I might have the bathroom problems after the surgery.

I know what you are going thru who are contemplating surgery. Mine is scheduled for November 17, 2011, and I promise to come back in here and give you an update. Stay tuned! o.O

I have had the dull aching pain just under my right rib cage that goes into my back and between my shoulder blades. I wake up in the night with horrible pains on the right side, sweats, cold chills, constipation, diariaha, gas, bloating, heart burn and indigestion. I have had several test including the hida scan and all have come back normal. I am having laprascopic surgery soon at which point I believe they will remove my gallbladder. I always eat healthy, don't drink soda (only water) and lots of it. I eat plenty of fruits and veggies along with my meals. I believe a good diet is important but is not the only solution. I am looking so forward to getting rid of the pain.

I would love to know what you decided to do about your gallbladder. I am having similar symptoms so it would be really helpful to know whether you had your gallbladder removed and if so if it helped you. Thank you!

Yes, and never felt better.  It's been a year and I can happily say I only wish I had done it sooner.

Hi I mentioned about my gallbladder a few months ago. I had it removed however I am only feeling a little better now and it has been six months. While the pain is less frequent, I am still having bad stomach aches and am sometimes nauseated. My doctors have been unable to help me and I was just wondering if anyone else is still experiencing problems?

Has anyone had a HIDA Scan done and the doctor tell them they were fine? Cause I'm seeing a pattern that everyone that gets that test its like "oh we better take it out" so what that $10000 surgery hell if I was doc, I'd tell that to all my patents.

I just read all the comments and just have to shake my head. I find it amazing that patients as well as the medical community just accept the removal of an important organ in your body as standard procedure, no big deal. Does anyone not ask why all of these Americans "need" to have an organ removed? Why doesn't anyone ask what is the CAUSE of the problem in the 1st place? Wouldn't it be better to go after the cause of the problem than reason, "aw just cut out the organ that is showing the symptoms, that's the answer"?
Well I too was like you and had repeated pain from Gallbladder attacks. I could not accept the faulty reasoning of "Oh, just cut out your organ". When I asked, "why did my Gallbladder get like this?" or "how can I fix the problem instead of cutting out my organ?", I would just get blank stares and blinks.
After reading all I could I think I understand why it happens. The liver produces Bile and the gallbladder is like a balloon in your body that stores the bile until its needed (for the breakdown of fats). There are two reasons why stones form, 1. Your liver is producing "crappy" bile in the 1st place because of all the crappy processed American food we eat in our modern age and it is more prone to "crystalize" and form stones or sludge, and 2. When bile sits too long, stones form.
So understanding the problem, I sought to improve my diet, but most important I was determined to make sure my bile was "moving" every day. How I do this is EVERY morning I eat a bowl of oatmeal. I cook the oatmeal in the microwave with milk, 2 1/2 minutes. When cooked, I add 1/2 to 1 cup of cold pressed virgin Olive Oil, also Flax Oil, Honey, and Ground Flax. The most important ingredient thought is the Olive Oil.
Now some of you may already know that most Homeopathic remedies for the Gallbladder involve some sort of therapy involving Olive Oil.
Bottom line: I have not had a gallbladder attack in about 5 years since I started doing this. My ultrasound etc tests now show my gallbladder is clean as a whistle.
To be honest, if the above didn't work, I would have went for the surgery. But I am so happy that I believe I have found something that works...for me.
If anyone else tries this with success, please let me know. I hope it works for you too.

I have been suffering from really bad pain for a little over two months now. Ive had a few very bad gallbladder attacks, feeling as though if i put my right arm down my gallbladder would actually pop. I went to the er who gave me a blood test and a xray then sent me on my way. I called my doctor and insisted on the ultrasound, which I recieved and showed no stones. I went to urgent care a few days ago who said it seemed to be inflamed and set me up with a surgeon. He then said I need the HIDA scan to prove it's actually my gallbladder acting up (although he said he is 95% sure). I'm 21 years old, all my aunts, my mother, my grandmother and my cousin (19) had theirs out. Im constantly tired, I always have a dull ache under my right rib, sometimes flutters or turns to a quick shooting pain, goes through my back under my right shoulder blade, the middle of my chest sometimes feels like I'm having a heart attack, also I have aches in and feel sick to my stomach. Constipation started as well, I'm always bloated and sometimes get pains on the left side of my body randomly ( kind of mimics the right side) all my blood test have came up normal. Did anyone else have symptoms like these from a low ejection fraction? I'm praying this is it, I havent been able to work or anything, I just never feel good.

For nearly 10 years I've been dealing with all of these symptoms. had every scan under the sun done, except the HIDA. Ten years ago the doctors said it may be the gallbladder but he couldn't be too sure. I was 20 and felt like I was too young to have exploratory surgery. So I said screw it, avoided certain foods, and it just remained as a dull ache that flared up occasionally. For the last six months it's gotten worse. Constant diarrhea, the pains intense no matter how i lay, stand, or sit or eat. i feel like vomiting all the time. Someone I know had problems like these and waited so long his gallbladder went gangrenous. Hoping to avoid it, I talked to a different doctor this time and he sent me for a Hida scan and ultrasound. Don't know any of the results yet, but the tech for the scan showed me how nothing was draining from my gallbladder after they injected that awful stimulus into me. Nothing official in yet, but sign me up for the next surgery day. I'm tired of living like this. I did some research about the causes of gallbladder issues and they say the number one cause is hypothyroidism. I have been suffering from that for about 12 years too. Doctors still haven't been able to get the dosing right on my meds. I'm up to 150 MCG now. I guess it all makes sense now.

Hello 2boys73. You described exactly my situation - low EF (14%) and only nausea for 3 months now. Also found bile in my stomach. Did you have cessation of nausea after your surgery? Hope so.

does anyone else have experience with nausea and gallgladder not working at a good capacity? thank you.

I had a HIDA scan that came up at 38%. I still have my gallbladder. My Dr was not so quick to remove, she has me on a very manageable diet. While I do feel a bit better, I'm exhausted and removing my gallbladder may be my next course of action. I had to at least try the diet.

I had a HIDA scan and my percentage was 31%.  Anyone else out there chose to wait for surgery with that number until it got worse??  Just curious if I should do the surgery or not.

I'm 25 and out of no where started getting violently ill after eating and especially drinking beer and I am not talking about excessive drinking. I had half a beer and ended up in the hospital because I was violently throwing up and in all around pain. Since all of this started 5-6 months ago I am always nausea. I go period of time where I cannot eat anything because of the nausea. My doctor proscribed me zofran for the nausea. I went through a series of testing, blood work, endoscope (showed a long line of erosion in my stomach, probably from the excessive throwing up), CT scan showed an enlarge spleen, ultra sound came up clean, coloniscopy clean, and my HIDA scan had a ejection refraction rate of 18%. I was told that there is basically nothing else that can be done but to remove my gallbladder. I don't really have the standard pains of typical gallbladder issue. Just constant nausea, i only have full back pains when I am throwing up . What I am unsure of is there is something else wrong, like a food allergy or sensitivity to wheat or gluten, my doctor even said maybe a carb issue.

How did having your gallbladder removed help? The surgeon told me he would say that i have an 80% chance of it helping me but he also said that had it not been for the fact that I was in direr pain and so unbelievably nauseous when getting ejected during the HIDA scan he wouldn't say as high of a chance of helping.

My question since your always nausea is was there certain things that made it worse? And Does anyone have such bad reactions to beer? I've learned the I can drink ciders and alcohols but beer causes me to violently throw up my life for hours even after just having half a beer.

sasskat73 -- how are you feeling a year post gb surgery? any further complications? i've read too many concerning comments of running to the restroom directly after eating food; weight gain, stomach pain, etc. I am at a 6% ejection fraction, but not sure I want to loose a vital organ even with it not functioning at <35%. With hind sight 20/20 would you go ahead with the surgery? I have had 3 episodes in the last 8 weeks; but now clear on why I have felt so 'full' after eating small amounts for the past year plus.
