I was having severe pain when sitting down, very severe. Thought it was a prostate issue and went to a urologist. Doctor gave me pills and antibiotics but pain was still severe. He suggested Green Light Surgery, to get out of pain I consented, he said there was a chance of RE. After the surgery pain persisted, due to insurance had to change doctors. Second doctor was no help. Went to third urologist, he said it was not prostate but interior pelvic muscle. He sent to a therapist who specialized in pelvic pain, three sessions and pain was gone. The muscle still gives me problems from time to time but not severe. After Green light surgery, I pain urinating and after orgasms for well over a year, it was depressing and the RE is permanent. That was five years ago, now I have no pain, orgasms are now very intense but still have the RE so have interest in sex again. The doctor who diagnosed pelvic muscle issue said you should not use surgery to cure prostate pain. I have had several sexual partners, I just tell them and they don't really seem to mind. If you are having severe pain while sitting down and you think it may be prostate issue, get second and third opinion because RE is not reversible after Green Light Surgery. I would still love to be ejaculating again.
I'm 55 years old and I have bph for 3 mouths now. The Flomax worked good for the first month or so and with my chronic stress it gotten worse. If I eat red meat or dairy I'm up all night peing plus the Flomax gives me insomnia and sometimes renegade ejaculation. I have medium getting to chronic urinating score pse test.Another 7 points still a little bit off to be consider chronic. Should I do something now or wait
I just had Green Light Laser surgery last December for BPH. Best thing I ever did! I can sleep through the night. At 71 my ejaculate was declining yearly so I am not surprised
that I am dry now. Only ejaculate is the fluid from the Cowper's glands. But I can pee like crazy now! Always a trade off I guess. Someone should memo the engineering department. There are some serious design flaws with this dual use system! No incontinence at all. Catheter was in for just a few days. Really no pain from the surgery or afterward.

I had the greenlight surgery, have the retrograde ejaculations, and would not recommend the surgery to anyone.
My husband had to have two green light laser surgeries. Second one was to fix the mistake that was done during the first one.
He is now force to use a catheter six times a day!
He has had to self catheter now for going on 3 years now.
He is only 70.
Hates to leave the house cause he always has to have a travel catheter with him. It’s so embarrassing for him to self catheter in a public bathroom.
Don’t have it done guys!!!!

Ditto (my second time around - TURP, the first time). RE still happening - as it did the first time - but it got better after the first time. Still waiting for it to happen this time - but at 70, not sure it will. Still, better stream is worth the hassle - at 70, testosterone slows everything down anyway...At this age, choices aren't too many - so, so far, I think Green Light was the way to go...
I read these posts, did research and on the stretcher before surgery I asked the surgeon to preserve my ejaculatory hood. He was skeptical, but now this was known. I can both pee and ejaculated normally. At first my ejaculations were minimal, but improved with time. Hope this helps men who haven't undergone surgery yet. Talk to your Doctor, but I believe I put him on the spot right before surgery.
I had Green light Lazer surgery over 10years ago. The doctor told me there was 10% chance of RE. He lied. The 1st time I had sex it felt like I was ejaculateing razor blades. Organism has improved but not like pre-surgery. I wished urolift had been available.
Totally agree . . . had the same issue. It never goes away. Add to the fact I developed strictures in my urethra, post greenlight laser, turning my stream into a spray in about eight different directions. Plus, it did absolutely nothing to alleviate for my urinary urgency every hour. Last, I have to shake my johnson rod around 100x after peeing to ensure no pee droplets end up in my underwear after I zip up. Do not have this kind of surgery! It does little to nothing resolving an enlarged prostate. I could strangle my urologist for selling me this bill of goods.
Yes, I've been suffering through this nightmare for about 15 years. I am now 75 years old.
Same experience. Piss like a racehorse, no pain, and 100% retro ejaculation. My urologist told me RE was a 35% chance. He asked me if I wanted to have more kids. I told him I had not wanted to have the kids I have now. I miss it, but it's OK if she doesn't like swallowing.
