Find another way. Had the surgery several years ago and erections have never been the same. Now all but nonexistent and I am only 63 head old
My urologist blatantly lied about orgasms after green-light surgery. He told me that orgasms would be the same but there would be no sperm involved so my partner could never get pregnant. He told me the semen would still ejaculate but the sperm would backtrack into my bladder. When I went back to him to complain about the dry orgasms he told me that that is what he said would happen. If he had told me the truth I would have searched for other options. I think these doctors just make more money with the green light surgery.
It's really hard to know from blogs how prevalent this problems are. My experience is that the doctors don't tell you everything, so read the blog then ask the doctor everything.
Almost three months after surgery, when I thought everything was fine, I urinated out a scab and then peed while on the Nordic Track i.e pushing on my bladder. That was today.
I do not ejaculate. I got a great erection from Viagra and from an intrapenile injection. I experienced great oral sex without either. I don't think my sexual pleasure has diminished nor my desire. Had my testosterone level checked and it's normal. Maybe you guys should do the same.
I had GLS for BPH 5 months ago. I am 66 years old and fairly healthy. My sex drive seems lower but not as low as our sexual activity level. Even with ED pills, I cannot get a strong enough erection, and cannot maintain what I do get. I am still running to the bathroom whenever I hear or feel running water. I am beginning to think this approach was a mistake. I am looking for some kind of solution. I thought it GLS was going to correct everything. The only benefit, is with a little work I can ejaculate. It is not a retrograde ejaculation. Sorry, I cannot recommend this to anyone.
Turns out many who have this, including myself at 68 yrs old, experience RE or retrograde ejaculation, after the procedure. You're a bit young for this and I don't think you want to lose that part of your sex drive. I needed the surgery, but if you can find another route, I'd take it!
Sex drive is almost gone and I cannot get an erection I would have never followed through with this procedure had I known all of this I am quite pissed off
Had green light laser prostrate treatment about 6 months ago. Now i have had to have urethra reconstruction, and I have ED. When I asked my Dr about ED before surgery he said it wouldn't be an issue. I am only 61 and had a great sex life with my wife before surgery. Now Viagra doesn't even work. Doctors need to be more honest about complications from this surgery. I believe my Dr wanted the money and was dishonest with me about the risks.
Surgery a year ago no disburse for sex won't even work most of the time even when it does orgasms are so lousy
I had GL a year ago, followed by no erection. Viagra isn't covered by insurance and thus is prohibitive in cost; even generic (sildenafil citrate) is difficult to get and requires pre authorization. I was turned down even after pre authorization for the generic. There seems to be an assumption that such medicine is just for "cosmetic" effects rather than really treating a dysfunction.
I had the green-light procedure in the summer of 2015. I was 75 years old at the time. I was not advised about the potential effects on erections, but after the surgery impotency was and has been the order of the day. No erections. I asked a different doctor about it two years later and he suggested implants. At my age I probably didn't have that many years left anyhow, but a younger man will want to explore the potential negative fallout seriously and thoroughly.
I underwent greenlight laser surgery a few months ago. It took 2 1/2 months to get past the worst after effects of the surgery. The actual surgery itself went wonderfully, the camera scope had me peeing razor blades for a day or so. I was able to have erections almost immediately and sex within a week or so. Orgasms were initially very painful with the most incredible urge to urinate that I have ever experienced; I would hop out of bed, make a beeline for the toilet, then not pass a drop. The negative aspects of orgasm subsided after 9 weeks, but I have noted a significant decrease in orgasm intensity; very upsetting/disappointing. Going without for a bit to see if any intensity increase. Most all appreciable urinary pain disappeared at 10 weeks, although still have a little which doesn’t bother me. Urinary pain had been significant upon commencement urination and much worse at cessation. I had extremely sharp pain in the head of my penis. To alleviate my pain I would squeeze the head of my penis and apply pressure side to side across the area just to the rear of my scrotum; must be nerves there running along the urethra. My prostate was I believe 47cc prior to surgery and I had worsening and diverse urinary symptoms despite increased dosages of flowmax. Given my condition prior to surgery and where I am now, orgasms aside, I would still choose to have surgery. Hoping that things get better for me, but still able to satisfy my partner. I hope that sharing this helps somebody.
I’m 65 & physically fit. Had GLT surgery 5/2021. Prostate was enlarging into bladder. Had ED for several years but low dose Cialis kept me on an even election plateau. Went off for a year & had full on ED. After surgery I have lots of good erections throughout the night so it seems like I may be fully functional again. Haven’t had any sex yet. Waiting a could more weeks for that. It is worth just peeing in 5 seconds rather than 5 minutes. Also found out that the strain on my bladder over the years pushing the urine out causes it to get muscular. Inside should be smooth. Hopefully releasing the strain will take care of that some. I also keep doing my kegel exercises and it helps.

Despite asking to try medication before surgery, my Dr. refused to write a prescription. He told me "you don't want to be taking a pill for the rest of your life."
I foolishly agreed to the surgery and it ruined my life. I went from successful coitus 2 to 4 times a week to never again, total 100% ED for three years and counting.
Also, urination is torture, extremely painful.
I believe Dr. Roland Ugarte of Minnesota Urology was greedy and dishonest. He ruined my life.

I had this procedure over 10 years ago so it is not " New "... It's still better than an experimental procedure I had over 20 years ago. I had an issue with starting urine flow again. They probably should have left the catheter in for at least a day or so. I also chose it because I was not ready to give up sex with a TURP procedure that results in erection failure in all of my friends that had it done. There may be exceptions but I wasn't going to chance it.. Frankly, I'm surprised with the other options available that anyone chooses TURP in this day and age. It's a bloody and invasive procedure and in my opinion a dinosaur in today's medicine.
Yes. Orgasms were dry and not as sensational. I had one about 12 years ago and my desire for sex has since slowly reduced to almost none. Could be other factors though. I’m 80 now. Prostrate has grown back but still dry orgasms when lucky enough to get one without a full erection.
