I'm three weeks post op, pins in my second and 3rd left foot toes. The pressure and swelling is intense at times. Did anyone ever feel as if their pins were moving? I too am so over this!!! 9 more days before they are out and I get this cast off as well.

I had hammer toe surgery last December. I had pins in #2 & # 3 toes. The surgery went well, the stitches removable went well, the pin removal was easier than the stitches, but the recovery took 6 months before I could exercise & play golf comfortably. I would really like to know how long are the pins. I had the ones with the plastic ball on the ends.

I had an osteotomy of the big toe and capsulotomy/tenotomy of the other 4 toes on Dec 15. I have 90 stitches and pins in each toe. The stitches come out Jan 4, but I'm not worried about them. The pins will come out about 3 weeks later and I'm terrified of that. Was anyone given or even offered anything for pain prior to the removal?

I had the pin removed from my toe this past Thursday. I was incredibly nervous. It was over so quickly, my better half didn't have time to get a picture.... In the blink of an eye. It was less painful than a little pin prick. I will say this... I was the ideal patient. Entirely off my feet with the foot elevated for two weeks. Lowered only to use the bathroom...literally. Hubby did EVERYTHING for me... He was an angel. The third week, I was up a bit more, but not much and I bought a scooter to keep my weight ENTIRELY off my foot. At three weeks, the cast off and pin out. It's been five days, and each day I put more and more pressure on it, and I try to wiggle the toes a bit. I had a bunionectomy and hammertoe correction. Three incisions total.

I had a bunion toe straightening operation about 15 years ago and had my big toe pinned. I never had a follow up and the pin was never removed. Is this normal? I sometimes get pain in the toe and am debating going back to the Dr.

Good to know. My 3 pins will be removed next week. Should I take a pain killer anyway, before removal?

Hi, I had a pin removed from my fourth toe today after having it in for 4 weeks. I was really scared as I had watched videos on YouTube and it looked really painful. It was a weird sliding feeling on the bone and a stinging pain when the end of the pin came out. The nurse did it really quick so wasn't too bad at all.

Hi, I had 4 toes done on August 18th. 2 on each foot. Maybe I was very lucky but I haven't had to take ONE painkiller throughout! The pins came out yesterday - almost 7 weeks - and I must assure you it was painless! The doctor counted 1,2,3 out! It as that quick! I did twist the pins a little and must confess pulled one of them out myself! It had gone in a bit so I tried getting it out a bit, next thing is I had it in my hand! Please don't worry. I would have thought two is a bit early to remove your pins though. Good luck!
