hi there guys,
i have been on duromine for two weeks now and my goal is to lose 15kg. A few of my friends have used duromine in the past with the idea that this is a quick fix solution to their weight loss. they did little exercise and ate very little and after finishing there prescription they put all their weight back on making them feeling even more depressed with their weight..
I set out to prevent this so i structured a healthy eating plan and joined the gym. my advice is please eat breakfest, if possible plan your meals they night before so you dont grab the nearest thing and think about your goals not just weight loss but fitness too and for me personally having an excerise buddy has kept me motivated.keep water near you at all times and if you experience grinding try out chewing gum, it helped me a bit
My side effects were quite extreme on the first 3 days feeling like i was on speed, sweating abnormally, sense of floating, dry mouth. i have had anxiety in the past and experienced it alot in those first days. I think this happened because my body was not used to such a strong drug but after those first days i started to build a tolerence to it and the side effects slowly disappeared. i have no probs sleeping and have a lot of energy which has been great for the gym. If your reading everyones posts for info before you start please dont think that your going to experience all the effects! this drug affects people differently so have a go at it and if your symptoms are unbearable then assess if this is really worth a few kilos!!
keeping in mind everyone is different, i had the most horrible experience after a night out drinking ohhhhh i felt like DEATH the next day literally felt like i was going to die!!!! i couldnt breathe properly experiencing the most brutal hangover to date, silly me i did it once again and exactly the same thing happened.lol im a slow learner but im proud to say im not touching another drop till im finished

I have lost 6kgs so far and have changed from a professional couch potato to a fitter and happier person with loose jeans! hopefully in another 2 weeks i would have released the inner skinny me. Dont be scared to talk to your doctor about your syptoms and to those who dont experience any im jealous...good luck to all of you trying duromine out

This pill is the best to lose weight, yes it comes with side affects, but I say it is worth it to lose weight.. It is the only thing that worked for me to lose weight. After a couple weeks the side affects calm down ALOT anyway. I have lost 15 kilos since January 1 and it is March 26 today and I did go off of the pills and off of my diet in febuary for a couple of weeks and was eating junk food everyday and still lost this much weight all up. So I would recommend this to anyway who is desperate to lose weight and cannot lose it without help.

I AM A LUPUS NEPHRITIS PATIENT. I AM OVERWEIGHT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN TAKE DUROMINE. I ALSO HAVE UNDERACTIVE THYROID AND SLIGHTLY EPILEPTIC. I AM ALSO ON HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION (ADALAT + ATENOLOL).

I agree with Bedson. i don't recommend diet pills at all. If you need help staying on a diet I recommend R&D Diet Cookies. They are a food, not a drug and they eliminate hunger and cravings so you can stay on your diet.

Good Luck!

Wanna know the real effects psychologically and physically of this stuff...

Talk to a person that takes recreational drugs a lot such as speed or meth.

In that culture these med's are the pharmaceutical equivalent of what they take

These meds are what most truckies are on.

What everyone is experiencing in their personality changes is simply a lack of sleep.

Well now you all know I guess enjoy the rest of your drug binges and don't mind the helicopters, there not following you

...or are they!?

No seriously its best taking a break to actually START NOTICING what its effects are doing to you and maybe decide if you want to continue, it would be very easy for most people to get lost in it.

Hi,

I'm 21 yo and am on day 1 of taking duromine (no side effects as yet besides feeling extremely energetic and happyif not a little restless). I currently weigh 77 kgs, am 5'3 and have a bmi of 30.5. I have been dieting and excercising constantly and managed to lose an entire dress size (from 14 - 12) in a month the healthy way. However my weightloss plateued and no matter how much excercise I do or how much I monitor my food intake I can not budge it. I suffer from depression and was on anti-depressants. After being knocked back by 2 doctors who knew my depression history, I saw a doctor who had no idea and she prescribed me the lowest dose of duromine. I have stopped taking the anti-depressants as I dont want them to contradict the duromine. I am not looking for a quick fix but I am at my wits end as to how to shift this weight. I know I did wrong by lying to the doctor about the depression but I felt I had no other choice. What I really want to know is what effect duromine may have if you suffer from depression or even take an anti-depressant (my anti-depressants are pristiq). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with every on ehere, this drug is very difficult to stick with because of the adverse side effects. I felt great for the first 4 days, after I began to experience headaches which be present when I went to bes, still there when I woke. I had all the usual side effects, but I developed a stiffening of the neck around 4 oclock each day and I couldnt stop moving it until I could sleep each night. I felt like it became ridig.

I stopped after almost 2 weeks, and took a break for 4days, then thought I would give them one more go. I went to my Doctor today and she said to stop taking them. I couldnt last much longer anyhow. My octor said that the weight loss industry have made it too complicated, an the only real way to lose weight is to eat less. This was also told to me by a 92 yo science teacher!

I have lost 5 kg in 2 weeks. ow my stomach has been used to less food, I will be making sure I up the excersize and eat a diet of raw vwgis and salad, nuts, and drink plenty of water.

Good Luck to all!

Hey! Im on Duromine now, Im just about to finsh my first month, I was 93kg and only 163cm tall... Ive lost 8kgs in this time. My experience was mixed.. I had dry mouth (buyt was good because it reminded me to drink more water!) From taking Duromine I have a better understanding on portion control and what I should actually be eating (portions) and too stop when im full!

I did have problems about 1 week ago for about 4 days where anytime I was stressed I would get these annoying eye twitches... actually have no idea about it and tried to look it up, but it went away, and im good now. I never got super energy like most people, I was actually pretty tired by 9pm i was out!

Some symptoms I got:

Extreme moddiness (oh my poor husband!!!) Tiredness.. by 9pm Im asleep, Increased Heart Rate, Headaches (when im tired) Eye Twitchy thing.. Dry Mouth.

I also worked out, Alot! So I work 5days a week in a very physical job and then afterwards I hit the gym for about 45-60mins, 3-4times a week, Ive read alot of stories about people putting the weight back on staright away after they have come off Duromine, But I think you really need to be teaming it with Healthy Foods and Excerise, I used Duromine to train myself into this different lifestyle and I plan to keep up with exactly everything (Food/Excerise) now that im coming off it and see what happens.

I think its great, but should be used as a training tool and to give your body a kick start on your weight loss journey, not the answer to a quick fix.

Hi,

I have started on a 30mg dose today and hope it will all go well.  I have read so much on the topic to prepare my self for the side effect in particular.  So far so fine, will keep you posted

I am a 21 year old female, I have been taking Duromine for 2 months. The first week was okay, I was really thirsty and had a bit of dry mouth. Was definitely feeling more energetic, Never hungry and quite restless. At about week 3 I was in hell. I had dry mouth to the point of mouth thrush, Because of the mouth thrush as well, I somehow got a terrible sinus infection and my tongue was always white and coated thick with a fur type coating. This caused me to have problems with my gag reflex and it always felt like something was stuck at the back of my throat, I would clear my throat constantly but it would still feel that way, several times a day I would gag so bad I kept vomiting.  Everything smelt like manure and even my taste sort of tasted like that as well. I lost quite a bit of weight in the first couple of weeks and it was a really terrific feeling. I was always feeling vague and barely able to concentrate. I had terrible mood swings and would yell at my daughter for simple things which made me feel so terrible.  I had trouble being able to urinate, it would take me up to 5 minutes to be able to start! And I had bad head aches. But here comes the worst parts.. I then developed this terrible picking problem, where I would pick at eczema on my skin until it became a sore the size of a 10 cent piece and I was just obsessed with picking at myself. In a good moment of clarity I made a mental note to quit that habit because I was damaging my skin and it hurt my thighs to pull my pants up due to the little wounds up my legs. So I helped them start healing. But worst of all... I developed terrible paranoia. I started seeing things, like shadows and figures and hearing noises and was I terrified at night, If I had to go out, I would run to my car with a bat in my hands. I would be driving and have these terrible day dreams of crashing my car. I would see figures run out in front of my car and was always in a panic, not knowing what was real and what wasn't. One night I drove home crying because I was afraid I'd lost my mind completely. Typing this now, It seems so crazy. My weight is not just a little problem to me, It was causing severe depression and effecting my confidence to the point of not being able to meet a nice guy and dreading having to take a shower and see myself naked to the point where I was skipping showers. Once my weight got to a point where I had more confidence, i was able to pick my life back up. My point in writing this is to say, I waited all of the side effects out, I waited for them to stop, I didn't know if they would stop, But I told myself that my weight is a bigger issue than all of those terrible things.  I stopped taking Duromine for 2 weeks and couldn't stop eating, i don't know if it was my mind wanting all that food or if it was because my appetite suddenly returned so suddenly, but what terrified me the most was gaining all of the weight i'd lost back. I didn't exercise the whole time on Duromine either, I was energetic at first and then I was so tired all the time!! Never having any mental or physical energy. I got used to it, until the 2 week break and then realised that when taking it again that I have all this energy that I didn't have any before. You may read this and wonder why I started taking it again, well to be honest, I never intended on not taking it. my dose ran out on a week I didn't get paid and then I couldn't get in to see my doctor for a few days. I am glad to have had a break from it, because although I was still losing weight, It pretty much was just paranoia and never hungry in the end. The thirst and thrush, smell and unable to sleep all stopped after a month but yeah that's when the paranoia started. This time around I will be exercising and drinking more water, I do not plan on being on this drug for much longer, and am hoping no bad side effects come to me since I have only recently stopped taking them. But I beg anyone else who has any of these terrible side effects to please try something else, walking more, eating healthy what ever, I know this is hypocritical, but I can't stop taking them (Not because of addiction! I went 2 weeks without and was perfectly fine) But because my weight still is this black cloud over my entire life and I just need to get to a more comfortable weight before I lose the rest on my own at a slower pace. I will be taking a herbal appetite suppressant after finishing duromine, because the binge eating on the break was out of control. I know it is all mental, because when the drug was telling me I was no hungry, I had no urge to eating anything unhealthy and my portion sizes were like 1 piece of bread compared to 4 without, so I know it is something I need to learn and change or I will just gain it all back.

hey all,

I am about to start my 10th week on duromine. I started on the 15mg for the first three weeks & have been on the 30mg for the last 7.

The first three weeks I didnt really try to do anything to help myself, it was over the christmas period & I was also on holidays from work. My friend was down from Perth and so i basically spent that three weeks drinking, and eating hardly anything as i was sleeping in until lunch time and being summer it was quite hot which also put off my appetite a fair bit as well as the combination of the pills. I was buzzed & had loads of energy for the first 10 days or so & then it went back to being pretty normal. I didnt exercise at all & wouldn't eat until the afternoon usually and when I was eating it was c**p. I guess like many people I thought this pill would do the work for me & I think I was in denial a fair bit as to how good my eating habits actually were.

As a result I only lost 1kg over that first three weeks which made me very disappointed. I was then placed on the 30mg tablets and I guess I thought that these would work better because of the higher dosage & once again was severly disappointed when after a week on them I hadnt lost anything. It was this that really gave me the kick start and realised just how bad my eating habits really were & made me start to try harder to lose the weight.

I then started to try & either do a couple of kms on the exercise bike a few mornings a week or go for walks in my lunch break for around half an hour a couple of times a week also. I usually ended up doing either once or twice a week with some weeks only doing something once. I cut out most of my carbs & sugars & fats, concentrating on wholesome light meals & introducing breakfast which I never ate before. In the first week of doing this (5th week on duromine) I lost a total of 4 kilos & was extremely happy & made me more motivated to keep doing what I was doing.

the 6th week I lost nothing & after researching plateus I thought that was what may have happened & I starting doing a cheat meal kind of thing to spike my metabolism & kickstart further weightloss. I also introduced protein powder but only allowed myself to have that after I had worked out first thing in the morning & also a detox liquid to have first thing in the morning to help with constipation and to flush out my body.

I went back to the docs at this point to see if possibly the duromine was not working for me & had a diff doc to the one that had prescibed me to it & he told me that he doesnt think it works & that I was probably losing weight from doing what I was doing, not from the duromine & in his experience most people who were on duromine had gained all the weight back afterwards & advised me to discontinue taking it.

I continued anyway as I still had presciptions for the whole 12 weeks. In the 7th week I lost a further 3kg. I have not lost anything since then (last two weeks).

With only 3 weeks worth of tablets left, I have decided to have the 30mg everyday for the next week & then after that 30mg every two days for the two weeks after that, followed by the two weeks after that a 15mg every two-three days to try and wein myself off them & prevent weight gain after going off completely.

Does anyone have any tips to kick start weightloss on duromine again with only a few weeks left? I have basically no side effects anymore or I have just gotten used to them. I am not anywhere near as thirsty as I used to be, not drinking as much water as i should be but still trying to & sometimes still have a little sleeplessness, not nearly as much energy either. I still want to lose atleast another 7 but would be ideal to lose another 9-12.

Its a bit discouraging also as I have a friend who is always yoyo dieting & trying any quick fix under the sun who heard about them from me & went & got some herself who is exercising by playing basketball 2 times a week but has always done this before & eats takeout everyday, drinks 2 nights a week & drinks A LOT & has only been on 30mg for 5-6 weeks and has lost 12 :( She keeps rubbing it in my face kinda and just makes me feel sh*t when I am trying so hard & not seeing the same results. I have heard that if you do what she is doing you gain all the weight back once you go off? is this true? It would make me feel a bit better if it was haha.

I am 163cm tall, 20 yo girl SW - 75kg, CW - 67  GW - 55-60.

My friend is a lot taller than me, maybe 170cm? not sure of her weight but she has always been a lot bigger than me, only when i was 75 that i was slightly bigger than her.

Any help would be much appreciated! (if anyone bothers to read my novel haha)
