I had very similar symptoms for many years. Had a blood test recently and was positive for H. Pylori bacteria in the stomach. This can cause gas and palpitations. Treatment is 2 weeks of antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor.

Hi
Thank you for the information, I may mention it to my Doctor. I did get some relief from increasing my fiber intake to about 30 grams a day and I take magnesium, my symptoms are very similar to yours, what a pain, even when I mentioned it to my Doctor he looked at me like he had never heard of this sort of thing. I have also found as I age the symptoms have lessened, I thought maybe this was something to with estrogen, thank for your response

Thank you for sharing. I am having similar symptoms and still have not found a doctor that will take my problems serious. I am only 35 and have been having problem after problem.. Although they may be small to some, they worry me and I want to be well. I am going t share this with my doctor and hopefully they will check my symptoms for what you have since they are so similar!
Thank you

I also get this.. its always after I eat or drink. Never usually when standing up... when I sit or lye down. Sleeping is out of the question. It went away for a year now it's back, it came on after a stressful saturday. It feels like my stomach flips then my pulse skips then corrects itself. I'm on omeprazole for gastro... any feedback would be great. Thank you x

I also have the palpitations and the stomach or esophageal sphincter spasms that everyone else has been describing so clearly. On reading everyone's stories, I feel reassured that I am not simply nuts or some sort of hypochondriac. I am a retired professor of medicine and have spent the last two months researching this issue and I have to say that Rab (above) has hit the nail right on the head with everything he (or she) has said. I wish that there were an easy fix, but there is not. If I find any useful information as I continue search for an answer, I will post the information to this group.
Good luck everyone- as others said you are not crazy and you are not alone. Medical science has simply;y not caught up to this problem.

Thank you!!!!! Have been to the ER many times in the last 2 years and all test (ekg, lung, blood work) all normal except vitamin d deficiency. You just described all my symptoms. Initially I thought like everyone else here that it was my heart; I'm also suffering from anxiety/panic disorder so I would freak out when it happened. Last night was awful which had me up afraid to sleep til wee hours and I found this thread. After reading your post, I was able to relax enough to see that the spasms, shortness of breath and flutters were all coming from my upper gut not my heart but every spasm caused a panic reaction. Because of you sharing this, I was able to calm down enough to sleep and slept for 9 hours.

I ate pizza last night. Typically I eat small meals but it was it extremely late and I was ravenous resulting in overeating. I did take an otc gas/acid pill only helped a tiny bit.

This morning the sensations are gone but I feel gassy that's usually because of my cpap machine for sleep apnea which btw is one of the little known effects. I have been juicing breakfast (fruits & veggies) for over 2 years now but I'm afraid to eat today. Last night was torture.

Are there any all natural remedies for this?

THANKS AGAIN!!!

Look up Roemheld Syndrome. European docs are familiar with it but US ones are not or poopoo it. So frustrating. More studies need to be done. My heart palpitations/afib episodes are always accompanied or followed by gastrointestinal issues. A good bowel movement always stops the palps.

I am one of the unlucky members of this club as well. I believe this is spot on with Roemheld (GastroCardio) Syndrome. Wish more shrinks are trained on this or at least savvy enough to not prescribe tons of anti-anxiety drugs and beta blockers etc., based on the symptoms that they are not text book trained to diagnose.

..btw I visited close to 15 doctors (from the head of GI from the biggest non profit hospital in US to doc in the boxes) and not one of them was able to relate the symptoms and give me even a close enough diagnosis to Roemheld. They instead fake convinced me of anxiety and started providing anti anxiety drugs which obviously did nothing to alleviate the symptoms. I ended up proving my shrink that my PVC's start exactly 2 hours after my dinner so the PVC are indeed related to digestion. He ended the conversation saying the causative agents of PVC's are hard to determine and ended up suggesting beta blockers which luckily I didn't end up taking.

i hope you are still monitoring this- I have the exact same thing!!! I have had so many tests- nothing. but I have found if I take a probiotic it kind of eases things. at one time I also thought maybe it was yeast in my digestive tract..
So your activia yogurt suggestion would be right in line with my probiotic theory,
