There is also some research on the relationship between stomach spasms and the vagus nerve. This encompasses 2 nerves, called vagi (plural of vagus), which run between the brain and the stomach, and affect the heart. This nerve is named vagus, meaning wandering, because it connects many parts of the body and affects multiple bodily functions. The vagus nerve helps the brain interpret the bodies’ dietary needs and regulating of the heartbeat.

Gastroparesis is caused by damage to stomach muscles or the vagus nerve. It is not the same as GERD but is often misdiagnosed as such. Gastroparesis is related to stomach motility – which means the immobilization of process for digestion of food. If you suspect this you can take bifidopholis and acidophilus. Walking immediately after meals for one hour may help also.

Shortly after eating it feels like my heart start pounding harder with a throbbing that I can feel right under my breastbone. I could not tell if it was an irregular heath beat or a spasm of some sort. So I did some research on the internet to find a natural antispasmodic to see if that would help. For about a week or so now, I have been drinking 4 cups of Chamomile tea - a natural antispasmodic and an happy to say I have noticed the severity has greatly lessened.

Would get upset stomach with milk in tea and switched to organic and it stopped.Wondered if it was penicilin that cows are getting in feed as I am allergic to penicilin. Also had to go to organic butter as regular butter made my throat break out and full of mucus.

I quite eating Activia because the strawberry one has carmine for food coloring.Carmine is actually ground up bugs from India.I called Dannon and after going round and round they admitted it.

I wonder also what the GMOs are doing to us.The new BT corn has pesticide right in the corn. When the insect eats the corn its stomach splits open and it dies.I do not want to eat this stuff.

Thus can't be good.

Couldn't help but smile as I read your post, as I have been dealing with exactly the same issues for 26 years. After all the tests, panic attacks, meds, and dismissive doctors, I have long ago accepted that I just have to live with PVCs. I believe that in my case they are caused by some sort of damage or structural shift in my diaphragm/ esophageal area, as this all started a few days after my abdomen was subjected to severe pressure from a safety belt while I was working in the derrick of a drilling rig. I am actually experiencing a fairly robust run of PVCs right now, as I overindulged on a large pizza for supper.
Good luck with your search for relief, and be confident that you are unlikely to be at a major risk of dying if you cannot find a cure. Don't let 'em beat ya!

I''l post in the event someone comes back or searches and finds this thread. It's comforting to know others have similar probs, but let them all not suffer! Spent a few hrs in the er last nite, 7/1/2012, because after a swim and shower at the beach I got liteheaded and got what seemed like convlusions or palpations just below the rib, a little left of center--like others describe. I used to explain it away as reflux, or digestive spasms, etc, but in the hospital the doctor said the EKG machine indicated atrial fibrillation--or, he said it was not definite, tho the readout was definite at the time the EKG was taken. So, I have to look into this issue right away, but have no insurance, etc ... I think if someone has a sudden problem like this, not previously diagnosed, check heart issues before anything! Good luck, God bless!

I have very similar symptoms. Stomach aches especially when pressed against, daily nausea and a strong heart beat that I could see below my diaphragm. I had many tests done but more recently was put on an antispasmodic medicine used for ibs. The medicine is a life saver!!! No nausea, stomach pain and I can no longer feel my heart beat! It takes affect soon after ingestion. It's only been two days so I'm not sure about long term damage/side effects, but it's so great to live without pain! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the post. This article is interesting in studying a conflation of digestive and heart issues, but prob. should be only food for thawt--I have a tendency to self-diagnose and then forget I did that, and walk around presuming I have a "condition" which I alone diagnosed!

Well, most people on this forum have GERB or acid reflux. You may be lactose intolerant but you're probably suffering from acid reflux too... I get a tightness/lump in my throat every day, especially when I wake up and after I eat b/c acid just sits in your throat when you sleep. It's the acid that makes your throat feel that way... Coffee is super acidic and I always noticed after I drank coffee my throat was sooo tight and felt like a lump, then I found out I had to give it up because it's so acidic... Don't stress out about it, stress causes a more acidic environment in your body!!! Ever notice when your upset you get that lump in your throat? It's the acidity of your stomach! I think a lot of people get acid reflux/gerd from being so anxious/stressed..... It runs in my family, but when I started college and had stressful relationships my acid reflux begun and even when i'm not stressed/anxious I get it, and people always tell me to relax but there's not much we can do.. anxious people are more suceptible to it :-( I too get these awful "heart palpitations" and at the same time I can feel my stomach like twitching.. Whenever I press right below my sternum you can feel and press on the gas bubbles... We just are producing too much gas like she said up there... I also get a sharp pain in what feels like my heart, but again, it's just a combination of gas and our stomachs twitching... i heard esophagus spasms can also feel like your heart is skipping a beat/palpitate... Just throwing some ideas out there, because I've been avidly researching this because my symptoms only get worse and worse as the time goes on..... :-( good luck to all!
