I have been researching a similar problem for years now and the three possibilities i have found are hiatal hernia(messes with vagus nerve) , thoracic outlet syndrome(veins or arteries get pinched off in certain positions) or mitral valve prolapse(which CAN produce these symptoms) also a broken or bruised rib, pericarditis or gastric reflux could be looked into

hi im 16 turning 17 and I just had one of these episodes. My heart was racing so fast I felt numb and I was just laying down and not doing any excerise but falling asleep. My heart beat was so rapid, My whole chest was jumping so wild and clearly it was scary. I thought my heart was going to burst. So I jumped up and tried to show my mom and it started to slow, but it reminds at a pretty fast rate and theres a lot of pain wherethe front and it of ribs closes up between my breast and above it. I get tingly and strange sensations through out my body and I get tired. it gets hard to breathe. I also fainted a lot too. now after the attack is over my whole chest like myheart inside feels so heavy that I have to slouch over for comfortable. These are symtoms of heart failure and enlarging I read and heard about. I don't want to scared for my life.

I am 44 and had been taking mucinex for chest congestion. after of a week on this medicine, I had the EXACT symptoms that you had and it was down-right SCARY. I also experienced nausea and immediately drove to the emergency room. It subsided after the ride there and I didn't end up admitting myself because I didn't want to pay the expense. You are awfully young to be experiencing these things, and if you continue to have these symptoms, please seek ANOTHER OPINION !! you are your best advocate, and only you know what FEELS normal with your body. Buy a BP cuff (a digial wrist one work well if you cant use the manual one) and be consistent with taking your BP (same time every morning and 1 hour after a workout) And, see another doctor again with any more issues. I am an LPN, so I know a little bit about this! I have a drs appt tomorrow for and ekg and a full blood panel to check fats, proteins, cholesterol, sugars, etc. I hope this was a little helpful. Good luck

My son is 10 now, he has episodes where his heart races as fast as 205 beats per minute and pounds noticeably, he has seen pediatric cardiologist at UCLA and has been diagnosed with Supra Ventricular Tachycardia or SVT for short he's currently taking beta blocker to help minimize the symptoms, it helps but doesn't prevent his episodes...he needs to have a procedure to FIX the problem, some things good dr recommend to control symptoms are when you have an episode lie flat on the ground, bare down as if you were using the bathroom, blow into a blocked syringe or straw, or do a head stand, then lie flat again. I just thought I'd throw those suggestions out there, hope it helps!

I have had heart palpitations since I was probably 16. I always felt like they were stress or a panic attack or sometimes working too hard in the heat.

At some point I found that if I lay down immediately and made myself relax and breath slowly i would get alright. I also had my heart checked and was told I was fine.

Sometimes there is no apparent reason, sometimes there is.

When one happens my chest aches and my heart is racing, if I put my hand on my chest it feels like it is beating VERY FAST.

Today I had one in the Goat pen, I had move really fast to shoo some Goats out. I Prayed for help because there was nowhere to lay down (everything is wet and dirty) I was sending them to a dryer place. I was afraid of actually passing out. I was able to set on the side of a feeder and put my head down and prayed for it to stop. After maybe 5 or 1 min it went back to normal, but left me feeling unwell.

It is some comfort to read that there are others w//this problem.

I recently ordered 2 books by Dr. Levy (He is a Heart Spec.) one is death by calcium. I don't intend to go to the Dr but I am changing my eating and anything I think will help. Thanks to All of U. Blessings Jill

I'm a 27 year old athlete and I'm having similar problems. 6 months ago I contacted a viral illness with flu like symptoms. The viral symptoms dissipated but for at least 3 weeks I was so fatigued I got out of breath walking to my car, and walking up stairs made me drop to the floor exhausted. I began having panic attacks when I experienced any sort of odd sensation. I had insomnia for months because each time I'd fall asleep my body would vibrate and I'd wake up after 5 minutes or an hour drenched in sweat and alert. Many of those symptoms subsided after I began taking benadryl to sleep, however when I started exercising again something was apparently wrong with my heart. When riding my bike at a causal pace my heart rate often skyrockets to 250 and above for several minutes when I lean forward on handlebars (, road bike). And I began to notice double beats and exhaustion after exercising. My jogging heart rate is now 185-195 where it was 155-165, and when I do intense exercise my heart pounds so heart it feels like an animal is trying to punch it's way out of my chest and my ears and my throat (sometimes activating my gag reflex). I had open surgery on my kidney a few months ago to remove cancer discovered at an ER trip during this viral episode, and while on the operating table my heart rate dropped into the low 20's and the double beat arrhythmia was confirmed. Echo, stress test, stress echo and holter at the cardiologists showed nothing. I'm frustrated because I'm suffering when I exercise, my performance has halved and my muscles twitch all the freaking time since the virus and none of my doctors could give less of a sh*t. Just prescribe anti-inflammatories and send me away.

I had this and was drinking loads of bottled water. I stopped drinking it as it contains loads of salt, and I now feel fine.

You're a guest, like me, so you won't likely see this, but thank you. Thank you everyone else too.

I agree with you all about dehydration. Low carbs gets rid of water weight. Low potassium applies to me. Bananas are better than potatoes because of arthritis causing crystals (gout). I drink LOTS of water to dissolve them to avoid arthritis. I should have thought of bananas. Electrolytes help in the right balance.

Y'all are probably right about the onset of diabetes being a factor. Blood pressure medicine can be part of the cause, but the medicine is chosen by the doctor to be the most helpful and the least harmful. We're all dying, but the doctor makes sure we do that as slowly as possible and in balance. They aim for us to get past 80 years.

My heart didn't objectively race as some of you described, except in a couple of instances. Too much caffeine probably did that to me, along with dehydration.

Adrenaline (epinephrine) sounds like a logical cause, but we're not all alike.

I recommend not suddenly changing your diet without talking to a doctor. The body adapts, but too much of anything can be a shock.

Creatine operates by hydrating muscles. That could take water away from organs, so stay well hydrated.
