My son was hospitalized when he was 18 months old for what they thought was a staph invection on his cheek. Come to find out the finally diaignoise was that it was herpes.
Ever since then he gets the outbreak in the very same spot on his cheek, it also has spread to the bridge of his nose and to his eyelid.
That is my biggest concern. I have been told if it gets into his eye and affects his cornia he could have problems with his vision.
My son is now 7 years old and we've seen our Pediatrician, Opthomologist, Dermatologist and even an infectious disease specialist. They put him on a propholaxis regimond of Acyclovir elixor 2tsp. 4 times a day. But it seems like he has become immuned from it. He may be taking the med. and will still get an outbreak. How is that possible? No one can give me an answer to my questions. Any Info you can give me would be greatly appriciated. Thank you in advance.[/list]
