Does anyone else deal with a disappearing lipstick issue? I do! I know some people are able to do everything and still manage to keep their lipstick on somehow. Let's just say I'm not one of those people. Lipgloss, I don't even bother with that any more. I'm sure that ends up in my mouth only to be swallowed somehow.
I love the way I look with lipstick though and I want to know how to make it last, you know, perhaps at least two hours, to keep things modest?
If you got any tips for me I thank you in advance.
There are a few tips there.
- Make sure to exfoliate your lips properly. Not only will your lipstick stay on longer, it will also look better.
- Apply concealer (like you use on your face) before putting your lipstick on.
- Blot off the excess.
- Finish it off with translucent powder.
- Don't touch your lips with your hands or lick them. (Don't eat. Don't kiss.)
- Choose lipsticks with staying power. Some are meant to last all day. They don't, but they last longer than those that aren't meant to stay on all day.
Hope that helps. Yes, you should definitely be able to get at least two hours out of your lipstick!
You know, I've tried all sorts of lipsticks (and the tips above are good too) but the lipstick that always stays on longest for me, in my personal experience, is MAC. The matte formulations in particular... They're pricey, I'll give you that, but that's also 'cause they are more highly pigmented than cheaper lipsticks, which is why I never mind investing in them. The "Mineralise" lipsticks from MAC tend to fade earlier than the regular ones so keep that in mind.
On the off chance you don't like MAC (who doesn't? some people I guess), Stila's Stay All Day stuff is very good too.
One other thing you can do that I haven't seen mentioned here yet is to apply lipliner or a lip crayon all over your lips AFTER you have already put your lipstick on. This move kind of seals the lipstick in and makes it go the distance.
I will also be trying some longwear lipsticks and the tip of adding lip liner after applying lipstick though that also sounds completely counter intuitive. I hope these tips keep on paying off and I'll eventually be a grown up girl ;) who is able to keep her lipstick on a decent amount of time.
