Hi, folks. I think I am taking too much sodium and I would like to change that. Many family members had or have high blood pressures and I know that sodium is one of the responsible factors. I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to reduce intake of this element. Thanks in advance.
Hello, there. I am glad to see that you are thinking in that way. Preventing a disease is a great thing. You should know the food that contains sodium. Those would be: beets, spinach, kelp, oysters, etc. Before cooking, you should always check for sodium levels in that food. If it is high, avoid extra salting. You could use herbs and spices instead salt. When you dine out, ask for less salting the dish that you order. You should measure your salt with teaspoons rather than with your fingers. In that way, you will have a better view how many salt you are using.
