My husband is 32 and has had a steady, dull, localized pain a couple of inches below his belly button for 3 months. Both our old doctor and our new one can find no cause for this pain. All of my husband's bloodwork has been normal thus far. Our doctor says that the pain is not caused by a hernia as we had originally suspected. He said that the only thing in this region is the colon. I have DH set for an appt. with a gastroenterologist in 2 weeks, but in the meantime I'm quite worried. Could this be colon cancer?
I should mention that DH had his appendix removed at age 7. Could this surgery cause problems all these years later? I understand that the appendix is located off of the colon. Also, could this be something as simple as diverticulitis? DH says that the pain is constant and never gets better or worse, even when he takes Advil. It hurts more if he presses on it, though.
