Try calcium citrate at night and magnesium citrate in the morning.
Let me know about a surgeon in Virginia - I have an appointment with an endocrinologist at UVA in February.
I don't think this is a result of just Dr. Coe but the inability of endocrinologists overall to detect parathyroid disorders and the proper workup and treatement of thyroid disorders in general. Unfortunately you have to do a ton of research before getting anything surgically removed to know what to expect afterwards. Surgery is part of an answer and should not be taken lightly. Second and third opinions by surgeons and physicians who have extensive experience is what to do. I hope your wife is hanging in there, so many have similar symptoms postop.

I went to Dr. Norman and he is GREAT!! I flew from Raleigh, NC to Tampa, FL, just to have his team do my surgery.
There is a reason that you do over 2000 a year. Its because you advertise like no other and make it hard to even find anyone else. You charge a $1750 consultation fee for a phone call I assume to pay for said advertising. Lets try this, My PTH is 206, Consultation done!! Now that poor people can get insurance too you require my deductible and Co-insurance to be paid out of pocket prior to the operation along with the consultation which would cost me a total of $5750. I guess you Therefore if your website is not full of scare tactic advertising which I highly suspect I will die within the next 10 years before my 40th Birthday. This is what the middle class has become. Pay up or die people. Hope you sleep well!
I read an article by Mayo clinic re GERD that suggested not drinking anything during meals.. It has helped me. It might be worth a try. Hope you get better soon. Haley's Nana.
They can quote you an expected price, but even so, any surgeon including those at NPC can encounter unexpected difficulties during the procedure (i.e. extensive RLN involvement, etc.) which can result in a modifier and addt'l expense. Mine was $20,000 which so I understand is at the somewhat high end of their range.
Anyone with PHPT who desires a highly experienced surgeon, IMO is well-served to refer to the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, surgeon-finder list, as there are those who maintain a high degree of professionalism. Unfortunately no URL links are allowed by the moderator(s), but easy enough to locate. And less the name be deceptive, this list contains surgeon names from many different parts of the world, inclusive of the U.S.. Good luck!

I had my Parathyroid surgery 3 years ago by Dr Norman, after putting it off for 6 years thinking it would get better. It will not get better. I asked my Holistic Dr if he thought there might be someone closer to do the surgery and he said, why would you go to anyone else but the best. Unless they do the same exact procedure as Dr Norman, I would not go to anyone else.

Dr Norman doent charge 40,000 for the surgery.. its 11 thousand if you have insurance.. get your facts straight before posting

Wish you had treated me like you say you treat people.....haha! You blew me off more than several times after you took my money and didn't solve my issues. Still have high calcium after surgery.
Dr. Norman why don't you post some of your unsuccessful stories on ypur webpage and tell how you helped them overcome your errors. You are awful and an opportunist and a liar. You prosper and I am worse. Now tell me there is a God.
