I'm 30 and have all the same problems.  Cant pee the next day if I drink 3 or more beers the night before.  I've seen my urologist about 5 times and he just says I have BPH.  I think it's brought on by heavy drinking in my 20's.  I don't think it's related to kidney and liver damage because my blood tests came out great.  When I stop drinking for a few months, everything returns to normal.

I,'ve had this happen too. I ended up 2different times in the emergency room to be catherized, not a fun time. My cause was an enlarged prostate, had to have surgery.

Yes I'm experiencing this. Have you found out why?

Try to drink water, after you have stopped drinking alcohol, drink the more water, the more you used alcohol, several glasses. I think it works in my case, try it, and tell later what happened....

Remember also not to dink too much, I have a daily limit of three small cans ( 0,33 ltr ) of beer which has 4,7 % alcohol in it, no more. Even better if you use only two cans. If you can not empty your bladder, it may brake !

try to drink a couple of glasses water immediately after you have stopped to drink beer or whatever, not only following day. This could work ?

Reading this thread and having the same issues myself, (30yo/M) I'd have to conclude that it is mostly prostate related. My grandfather and father both had their prostates removed. My story is similar to everyone else, when I drink kind of excessively and feel the need to pee, it can be difficult or impossible. I've been in countless situations at bars, where I've been in a stall so long that I start considering leaving the stall so people don't start asking what took me so long to get back. The worst is when I can't pee at a social event, or house party, and return to the social environment without ever peeing and trying to be myself and dealing with my torso feeling like its going to erupt.

This is exactly my problem. Its like hell when youre out partying and you feel like your blader is going to explode but you just cant urinate, it wont come out. I am having this problem for a long time now, probably a year, it stopped for a few months, but last night it happened again. Im only 17, not sure what should i do.

you could have paruresis which means you have to self catheterise, but if it is only after drinking booze it might be another problem get an appointment to see a urologist. you seem to young for any alcohol problem but you could have an operation called a bladder neck incision. good luck.

I need to reply to this because I have found out what it is. About 10 years ago I was drinking as usual and had a few pitchers of beer. After about 2 hours I went to pee and could not. I did not think much of it so the drunk I was I went back to the bar and had a few more pitchers. That with 2 hamburgers and another pitcher. It got to be about 7 to 8 hours altogether when it hit me. I always could hold my blather for a long time but by this time I was in pain. I ended up in the Hospital to get drained. They told me they never saw a blatter hold so much. It was like 2 bags they took out of me. I went to the doctor the next day and found out I had a enlarged prostrate. I found out that when you drink it paralyzed the blatter making it impossible to pee. This was a little over 10 years now and since I have gone to drink thinking I would be ok now but both times ending up in the Hospital. I have had a mixed drink or two but seems beer is what does it. With a enlarged prostrate it is sometimes hard to pee anyway sometimes but you ad alcohol and it shuts everything down. So now days I just don't drink unless I'm feeling brave and don't mind a trip to the Hospital. It's hard to give up when you love that beer but it probably saved my life.

I also went through this. I'm a 31 year old male and drink on special occasions a few times a year. I went out for a good knees up last week gor out staff christmas party and had got drunk couldn't stop peeing all night. Then from 6am onwards I could not get a drop of urine out if me no matter how hard I tried. Drinking water, a hot bath..nothing worked until 12 hours later I rang my doctor and explained and was told to go straight to A&E. I was told to drink 3 large jugs of water which made the problem worse.. I had to wait in A&E from 7pm - 2am until eventually after me begging for help and four attempts of fitting a cathatar they succeeded! Urine and blood everywhere! It was 20 until my bladder was free of urine. I'm now stuck with this cathatar for two weeks and it's hell! So painful. Apologies for such an in depth story but I wouldn't want anyone to go through this and would advice people to go to A&E sooner rather than later before it gets unbarable like it did for me. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy!
