ok well my partener went yet again to see the doctor, they had a student with them.neither of them knew what the problem is. then in their wisdom they have decided he has a brain tumor that is causing all these strange symptoms.they are sending him for brain scans and have informed him if this is right he has about 18mths. very strange as this has been going on for at least 10years and some of you a lot longer.

I feel like your talking about my wife..... and yes 1drink hits her like ten when she has these episodes. Her symptoms are exactly the same as all listed above. Just recently she had a 2day episode for the first time. I think they coincide with stressful or overwhelming situations. She swears she is not drinking.. and I am that person the investigates and makes sure.. it also has happened many times right in front of me when we are not drinking. We also have seen many doctors and done many tests.. I participated and was able to be brutally honest with doctors and therapists. All kinds of drugs prescribed nothing worked.

A therapist told me one thing that made a bit of sense. I met my wife when I was 23 she was 18. I asked her to marry me after a year of dating and we were married a year after that when I was 24 and she was 20. She went from a very supportive family environment to a very supportive husband. I was into my education then did well in my career. I say this because we never struggled.. no issues financially ever, we are by no means rich but I am careful with money, no debt, and I'm a squirrel...save save save! I am faithful and loyal to a fault.

Stay with me.. there's a point..

I was kicked out of my house at age 16, without going into to much detail I went through hardships, personally and financially and learned plenty of lessons "the hard way" before I was 20 years old.

***The therapist says.. my wife went from family to me and has always been sheltered and well taken care of. Never dealing with life's issues and learning life lessons or how to deal with hard times and stress. Basically he says if life has been sheltered or successful without any struggling and that struggle happens later in life.. they are not equipped to deal with it.**

I half heartedly consider this as part of the problem because
My wife resently went back to school and is struggling, she is also looking for employment out of her comfort zone. Because it's difficult for her she has become very self deprecating and lacks confidence. These episodes seemingly coincide with these events. But I'm not convinced it's only that.

Haven't people been going through tuff life for all of humanity?

It kills me to see her go through this. I don't know what to do.

I want to put a few things about her below to see if anything about her life is common with others suffering from this.

She is 36.. this started when she was 35.
We do drink to much when we drink (whatever you think to much is double it)
She has had a bad drinking problem in the past and quit for a year.
Not a smoker
We low carb diet
With a low card diet a lot of that fake sugar sweetener is used
She has very irregular and painful menstrations
She was put on BC to help with that
She's about 30 lbs over weight
Try's to stay active/ 4 mile walks 3 or 4 times a week

hi,the only thing in common is that my partner used to drink,he gave up five years ago.his problem started about seven years ago. he has never struggled moneywise. I definitely agree it seems connected with overwhelming situations. why cant any of us get any proper help from anyone.the comments on here are from all over the country.any suggestions from anyone what we can do.

Through my investigations I have found that the below conditions can create these systems but our doctors immediately dismiss most of them without testing and don't even believe in some..some have no test or treatment yet.. I don't know what to do.. I decided that I'm going to start by looking into each one in depth individually. I wish I could stay a group email with you all so that we can try together and support each other.

Things that can cause this
-Low blood sugar/Diabetes
- imbalance/malfunctioning liver
- Hypo-glocemia
- Neurosis or Psyhchosis
- Extended Absentee Seizures
- Thyroid issues/hypothyroid
- Anxiety/depression/paranoia disorders
- Fermentation syndrome
- Auto-brewery syndrome

nothing has been mentioned about dementia.the doctors see an otherwise healthy 54 year old still very active at work. maybe we should ask them to look into this.

My wife has Dementia with the same symptoms as described. The medical establishment call it "SUNDOWNING" because it is associated with brain fatigue or burn out - a by-product of Dementia and /or Alzheimers. For peace of mind, I would like to know if the person you are speaking about has been diagnosed with Dementia or Alzheimers.

I have read about this and the symptoms although similar are very different in some ways ie slurred speech unbalanced as if very drunk.brain drain is avery good description though as I liken it to a battery running down. like others I am at my wits end with it.

I have a friend who is seeing a naturopath now, after getting no help from standard MDs. He experiences frequent bouts of drunken symptoms. In fact I was just taking care of him and his three kids while his wife was out of town the past 3 days. I had a close watch on him the whole time. He did not consume alcohol or any carbohydrates (which is what turns into alcohol in your gut if you have auto-brewery syndrome). His naturopath tests his yeast levels and they are 10 times the normal amount. Even with continued change of eating habits, he still has severe (2-3 days of drunk symptoms) episodes. He tests his blood alcohol level multiple times a day and will go from .18 to .08, to.14, and back down. It goes up and down constantly during the episode. It is getting to the point where their family can'take function. They have a 1.5 yr old, 7 yr old, and 10 yr old, and my heart is breaking for them. This is real! And we need to find a solution for people experiencing this condition. I'm on the hunt now! Please keep posting and helping each other. This condition is devastating!
