Irregular bleeding since having tubal ligation

Hey! Not sure if anyone has given this reply. But here's why things change after a tubal.
There are two blood vessels that go to each ovary. One if these is in the tubes. So when the tubes are cut, the ovary loses HALF of its blood supply. Yep half. Now there are several different things that can happen. Some people are fine. Sometime parts of the ovary die or not function properly bc it's starved of blood. Sometimes it's minimal, sometime extreme.
Yes this does affect your hormones! What happens is your ovaries are unable to produce the progesterone to balance out the estrogen. That's when strong periods, migraines etc happen. I had a tubal 6 months ago. And just learned all this. I have hot flashes, migraines, no or crazy sex drive, random pains. BUT there is hope. Prenatals vitamins have everything in them to encourage progesterone production bc progesterone makes for health baby. That's why doc will prescribe and pro only birthcontrol. I seriously encourage taking the vitamins, specifically prenatals. They do make a difference. No you guys aren't crazy. Also, if you pro levels decrease overtime or are low, it greatly increases your risks of cancers. So get those Tatas checked out regularly, and do pelvic exams. Also, you know your body better than anyone. If you feel something is of, don't stop until you get answers. Hearts to all my tubal women who know the struggle!

Omg I had my tubes removed a year and a half ago and I am just now experiencing long painful periods! This month has been the longest ....still bleeding and it’s day 14. I go see my doctor next week. I swear I read horror stories about becoming sterile and I did it anyway. I should have listened to my gut feeling. Worst decision ever!

Just like me except my period lays about 9 days then brown blood everyday till next period. I had a tubal less than a year ago. problem started 3 months after the tubal. I'm so pissed , wish i would have known this side effect.

Yes absolutely I am 40 years old I'm having the exact same issues however I when I went to the doctor they just said that I needed to take birth control as well and now after reading your yours I really do not want to take it at all it's doing no good I've been on it for 3 weeks nothing's changed

same here and everybody that I talk to that is even thinking about having that done I tell them not to because it's it's going to cause more problems then then they want and yeah my my cramps are way worse my and I'm still bleeding non-stop non freaking stop

Please look into post tubal ligation syndrome and find out what method they used to tie your tubes. I was told I was getting cut and cauterized only to find out after 6 years of menstrual pain that feels like labor, headaches, crying spells and so much inflammation they were testing me for rheumatoid arthritis that the used filshie clips. Without my knowledge they used these clips. They are lined with silicone. Now a clip has sprung open and migrated and is sitting in my pelvis near my spine. I have to get exploratory surgery next week, they also have to remove the clips and remove my tubes. I hope this brings relief. Please check into this so you don't live this nightmare.

Hi everyone! Read all comments , i am mother of three and done my ligation in 2010. Due to same heavy periods n clotting my HB level dropped n my health was getting worsened. My gyn suggest me a Marine IUCD, i get upset coz because of all thes stupid hormones pills n precaution i did ligation . But due to low hb i placed IUD which changed my life , i got my period normal once in mnth i bleeds almost three days and i recovered frm my Low hb level . Mood swings recovered. After aving it 5 years i had to remove it coz of backache which was Due to my spondylitis issue i mistakenly removed iud :(
I am again suffering where i was , i read alot about and i think one shud knw their body well these contraceptive pills can’t do anything. I am going to place again iucd i think which is the saver , just shared all coz i can understand the pain n anxiety.

I had my tubes clamped 1 year ago and have found menstrual flow really ridiculously heavy since this op. Does anyone else out there have similar experiences like this?
