i HAVE BEEN to all sorts of doc's EVEN DERMATOLOGIST. They said DO NOT SCRATCH. That is it. They didnt care that they itch. They didnt care that it is totally humuliating to get undressed in front of people(not that I make a habit of doing that..lol) I do not. In general, to wear sleeveless shirts or shorts or capris even, I cannot. They labeled my condition PRIRUGO NODULARIS. Nothing can be done about it. They cannot take a scab to the lab because it can be anything. I think it is just another diagnosis of they dont know wth they are talking about. They gave me some CLOBATESOL ointment which just softens the nodule. They look like mosquito bites and also look like it is a really bad injury/infection. I did go into an urgent care and they gave me BACTRIM because my sores were open and spreading. It makes me soooo dirty. THE BACTRIM did help clear my SOME of scalp stuff up. I am 45 years old and have been married for 22 years and have two almost grown boys. I live in the south so it is always hot/warm. It is embarressing. I HATE IT! My next stop is a DISEASE INFECTION DR. There is no cure for it. I hear that stress brings it on and it does not help to be stressed 24/7. I also take BENEDRYL OTC everyday beausw I am extremely allergic to everything. I use DIAL ANTIMICROBIAL soap because it has gotten so bad. That seems to help but my skin is so dry. I Have done DOVE and CETAPHIL. The CETAPHIL gives decent relief but even the off brand is expensive and to bathe and use it everyday....it is crazy!!! I am so defeated. Good luck to everyone dealing with this though. It is really hard! These things that I have done have helped a little but the sores are still there and the itching does not cease. I have also used SENSITIVE ALLERGEN laundry wash. I also go into tanning bed and the rays do CLEAR IT UP but only for short time. UGGGGGH!

You and I are very much alike, I know exactly how embarrassing it is. No doctor knows what they are but now my husband is getting them too after years of me dealing. So it is contagious. Campho phenique has helped and I only use C. Booth bathing products. Please update if you get any answers. I know the southern heat makes it itch like the devil.

I have these too. Dr. Treated me for scabies three times, clearly not the issue. I'm interested in the PTSD response. Any others have skin reactions to PTSD?

I had most of the same issues since I was in my mid 20's. I saw sooo many doctors and Dermotologists over the years. Everyone had their own ideas as to why I had all these painful, incredibly itchy, burning sores on my body. Some of the diagnosis's were as follows: acne, folliculitis, allergies, or depression even (that I hurt myself on purpose). I've been on steroids for years. Light treatments, tons of creams and oral pills. Nothing ever worked. Finally I had to ask my doctor to run an ANA Double Strand test, to check for autoimmune diseases that may be causing all my problems. I was in pain or sleeping most of the time and when I was awake I was weak. That test came back as scleroderma and I was treated with an oral medication and suddenly the skin calmed down, but I continued to have all the other health issues. 6 years had passed and suddenly I started itching again, I turned deep red, my ankle swelled horribly. So my pain doctor requested that I had a biopsy from my Dermatologist once more, specifically looking and testing for autoimmune diseases. The Dermatologist tested one of the sores that suddenly popped up. This time the results came back as a very rare autoimmune disease called Scleromyxedema and I'm finally getting the answers & help I needed for sooo many years.
Don't give up trying to get the right answers. I got mine after 25 years of suffering. Good Luck.

Sounds like it could be Molluscum My kids had it when they were younger. The dermatologist prescribed rentinol and some other topical creams that never worked.they were all too harsh for their skin. They were 2 and 4 . After about a year of my little ones being treated with different medicines I found Silver sulfate soap and cream and finally got rid of it. dont take baths and if you pop them. Use duct tape then wash with the soap and apply the cream. I don't remember the site it was over 10 years ago. Hope that helps.

So just so you understand, you actually "corrected" someone who was right. You gave false information and called true information false. Herpes and cold sores are BOTH caused by herpes simplex. People like you are the reason that the internet is not a good place to get information.

Same thing. Not ingrown. Started slow--increasing. Sometimes multiple ones in same area

This sounds exactly like what I have. I get them mainly on my thighs and rear end. They always start as what looks most like a tiny zit or ingrown hair. But they itch slightly and the itching doesn't stop until popped. They do not get larger like a zit or get a white head like a zit or ingrown hair. They don't have a hair inside when popped like they would if ingrown hair. If you don't pop them, they do not build up puss and get a white had like a zit or skin abscess of any kind. Hey just remain looking like a small zit type bump. Then when popped which typically takes more pressure than a zit or ingrown hair. It has a small seed like (to me they remind me of a tiny pearl) hard white ball. Which is always very deep under the skin. Deeper than typical acne or ingrown hair. Because they are so deep they bleed quite a bit, and take forever to heal. Then when they finally do heal they leave brown hyperpigmentation marks that take forever to lighten and go away. But you always have the brown marks because of the new ones that form. Making summer clothes embarrassing to wear. If this sounds like what you're experiencing, we may have the same issue.

I have seen the Dr and a top rated dermatologist (skin specialist). It has not been diagnosed. The dermatologist ruled out any of the following that has been suggested acne, folliculitis, infection of any kind (which would include molluscum contagiosum), or ingrown hairs. It certainly is not any type of cold sore or other herpes type virus. The herpes lesions would have clear puss, and would go away on their own over time. Herpes lesions also don't typically spread down on to the chest area and onto arms, legs, and stomach. So unfortunately I don't agree with any of the previous comments. Besides going to the regular doctor and dermatologist, I've tried searching online and reading up on every skin condition I could find. I've had this now for several years with no diagnosis.

I've come to the conclusion that at this point, my only option is to continue doing my best to scrub the areas regularly, to keep them clean. I take care of the lesions as they crop up. I pop the ones that are too irritating, clean with antiseptic, and apply antibiotic cream. I continue applying antibiotic cream to any of the sores until they start to really heal, to help speed healing and reduce scaring. I wish I had a better answer for you. Other than to say from what I've found, at this point there just doesn't seem to be one. :(

I bought some manuka honey at CVS 2 weeks ago and it is working, kills the pain, prevents them from getting the deep scab that is so painful too. It brings the seeds up so they are easy to remove. Amazing stuff!! Thank you!! 6 YEARS SUFFERING!!! Mine started after a cruise from Galveston to Jamaica, Cayman and Cozumel. The doctors could Never figure out how to cure.

No. "Although cold sores and canker sores are often confused with each other, they are not the same. Cold sores, also called fever blisters or herpes simplex type 1, are groups of painful, fluid-filled blisters. Unlike canker sores, cold sores are caused by a virus and are extremely contagious. Also, cold sores typically appear outside the mouth -- usually under the nose, around the lips, or under the chin -- while canker sores occur inside the mouth. "

They are not entirely sure of what causes Canker sores. They may be caused by some virus. But they have learned some things through research. One is they are not cause by Herpes (this is confirmed by the fact that children that do not carry HSV of any form get canker sores.) Two is that they are not contagious like cold sores which are contagious because they are caused by the HSV virus.

I am a trained Dental Assitant. As such, I have extensive training on health issues that concern the mouth. Canker sores are very different from cold sores and other sores caused by either HSV1 or HSV2 (herpes). Canker sores commonly appear in young children that do not test positive for either HSV(herpes) virus. The person you are replying to its a trained nurse. As such she has extensive medical training. Which would mean she would have a clear understanding of basic and common health issues, like HSV 1 and 2 (herpes), as well as canker sores.

But if you don't want to take either of our professional knowledge into account, here are several links that can explain the difference. I don't know where in the world you got your bad information. I can only imagine you read some random bad information online. These links are for reliable medical page's and respected university sites.

This reply makes sense from my experience. Because my dog has it too and my other pup a few years ago had it as well. Seems like some yeast thing. I have been trying to figure this out for years now.

I do on my forehead

My boys had that when they were smaller. The dermatologist said they would eventually go away on there own, which could be up to a year. I elected to let the dermatologist freeze them off. This worked & they haven't returned.

when to see a dermatologist about the bumps she couldn't give me a reason for them, She suggested changing my detergent and gave me a prescription for some triamcinolone Acetonide
Ointment. It did not help. Tslk to the pharmacy at Walmart about them he suggested that use coconut oil and anly sleep in cotton sleepwear.
