if your disease has been diagnosed, you should recieve treatment as soon as possible. because if untreated, the IGAN (IgA nephropathy) can progress to Kidney failure. In the western countries, the main treatment method is steroid treatment.as we all know, the steroid treamtent has many side-effects. in our hospital, the treatment methods are based on the general treatment. we will apply Traditional Chinese medicine treatment. the first step is regulating immunity and removing the cause. the second step is removing the immunc complexes depositing in the kidneys and eliminate renin factors. the third step is repairing the damaged renal tissues.  I'm a doctor for kidney disease.

I know this sounds weird, but it could be your mattress. We just went through a horrible 3 month battle with a very similar thing. My boyfriend had kidney pain. Dr. saw that there we stones, but that they were not obstructing so they did not want to do lithotripsy. We begged and pleaded as the pain was every day, especially in the MORNING. Finally the preformed the lithotripsy. It was better for a few days and then right back. Dr said it must be coming from his back since he had a back fusion from s1 to t11 in 2012. Back Dr. checked everything out and no issues with fusion of nerve impingement. We were pulling out hair out for months as the pain persisted and persisted. Then we realized we had gotten a new mattress right about the time the pain started. It turns out that even though it is a high end mattress it is to firm for him. We had Ia high end Dormia MEMORY FOAM topper from another bed and tried him sleeping on top of that and Whola it was like a miracle, the kidney and lower back pain got markedly better each night over the next week until it was gone. SO LOOK INTO THE MATTRESS THAT YOU ARE SLEEPING ON, IS IT OLD AND WORN OUT? IS IT TOO FIRM OR TOO SOFT? Try getting a HIGH END QUALITY memory foam pillow topper from a company like DORMIA. It has changed his life completely

I have the same pain every morning and I overheat as well. I don't know if the two symptoms are related.

I'm so happy that this problem isn't just affecting me...after months of waking up in the mornings in terrible pain in both kidneys and hardly able to breath in because of the pain, and like many others on here i do not drink much water, so from now on am going to try and drink more to see if it helps.  It is worrying tho, and my kidney function tests have come back normal? hmmm?

I posted months ago about my right sided pain and I now have a diagnosis, so i thought i'd share in case this may be an issue for others.  My condition is called Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction (SOD).  It is the valve (for lack of a better word) that allows bile to flow from the gallbladder to the small intestine.  Being on quite a bit of codeine based medication for another condition apparently contributes to this problem.  Codeine will cause the sphincter to malfunction.  Now I need to work out how to stop taking painkillers to stop this issue but also keep my other condition under control.  I've also noticed that eating fatty foods makes the pain worse but this is probably because the release of bile is not working properly and fatty foods leads to irritating my intestines as they're not being digested as they should.

Hi, I am 43 female, and have noticed that the pain is actually worse when I wake up on my stomach and how much fluid I may drink before sleeping. I try to keep it minimal by drinking sips of water before falling asleep. But I do have mornings that it takes all I have to turn over in bed, in order to get out of bed due to the pain being so severe. Once I get up and go to the restroom, I appear to be fine.

yes i get very hot very quick.ive had this back pain about 20 yrs I use to bike about 11ks to work but had to stop as the pain got to bad at night witch led me to belive its a hydration prob, but I think its more hyd rentension prob as I drink sh*t loads of water,or a calcium phosphorus imbalance in our cells, but im not sure how to address this. All my life ive sweated heavily through work with a low salt intake[supposed to be bad for you]I now use seasalt on my meals and also use Horleys replace[electrolyte sports drink ]once a day.Although ive alleviated my back pain a bit I haven't nailed it yet.My kidneys have checked out fine, I watch what I eat and am otherwise fitish and healthy. All the best everyone

Are you still experiencing these morning pains?

Do you still have these morning pains? I think you're right about the dehydration thing. I have been dealing with these pains myself for 8-10 years. I don't want to jump the gun here , but over the past 3 days I haven't experienced the pains in the am. The only thing I changed was cutting out coffee from my diet. I experienced same thing as everyone else in here: -No stones -Kidneys tested fine, even had ultra sound -Morning pain that seems to go away after a trip to the bathroom Again, no coffee = great sleep and no morning pain for past 3 days straight! I've never made it 3 days with awesome sleep. My body still wakes me up early though- now I just need to work on sleeping a little longer. I'm curious how many people in here with this problem are coffee drinkers..

I might be jumping the gun here, but I think I found my problem. Coffee. Cut out coffee 4 days ago and I've slept the best I have in years. My problems were morning side pains that hurt with breathing and the only thing that seemed to help was to get up and go to the bathroom. How many people here are coffee drinkers?

Coffee does trigger it for me, but it's not the only trigger. Half an avocado will do it for me as will yeast in bread (I now buy yeast-free bread). Soymilk as well as full fat milk. Eggs are definitely a no-no for me too. I'm slowly learning triggers as time go on.

Oh my gosh! I've a sensitivity to citric acid since I was a child, (and I have this kidney pain) I would have never connected the two. I've been taking a food-based Vitamin D supplement (with Calcium, I have a calcium deficiency). Thank you for posting this - it gives me some ideas (and some hope). :D

JACKPOT!!!I went for a deep tissue massage by a lady that knew what she was doing, presto about 2 weeks later my pain more or less vanished the only other thing I had done different is that I started flossing my teeth the night before my pain vanished. Good luck please let people know if this helps.

Same issue. Started at 34 when I lost about 10 kgs by dieting. Tried everything. Quitting caffeine. Abstaining from alcohol. Drinking a lot of fluids. None worked. Antibiotics seems to increase it. Now I wake up at about 4 am. Urinate and drink more water and sleep for 3 more hours, until the pain comes back.
