I've had the same problem. I am 12 days out from having my tummy, flanks and bra fat done. It has been a horrible recovery with them having to go back into my 12 holes with needles and remove blood and fluid. At 62, I should have never done this. The knots are very painful and itchy since they all filled back up the next day. My doc's office is closed but I will be calling as soon as they open Monday. I have nothing but regrets!!!

The length of time until the post-operative swelling has decreased and the permanent results of liposuction become visible depends on the surgeon's technique. If the surgeon uses the "open-drainage" technique where incisions are not closed with stitches, then most patients can expect 90% of the swelling to resolve in about 4 weeks. If the surgeon closes all of the incisions with stitches, then significant swelling may persist for 8 to 10 weeks.

That hardening is supposed to be normal and will go away. Don't worry! I had my surgery 8 days ago and I have had a very difficult time also. I have a lot of swelling and cannot bend my torso. Hoping for a quick recovery!

Hello I had smartlipo above my belly button and lower abdomen. No real pain or brushing with procedure. Above belly button after 7 weeks looks great. In my 4 week I too had hardening and swelling in my lower abdomen. Some days it is not as hard as others. I am doing easy running, walking and swimming currently which helps th swelling for some reason. Can you tell me now that it's been a while for you what was your long term results?

I had liposuction fourteen years ago. After a few weeks after having three and a half litres of fat removed from my tummy and waist I swelled up with extremely hard and I mean solid to the touch Edema. Even after all these years it still hasn't resolved properly. I have read that it may be due to lymphatic damage causing failure to drain fluids. I had a Harley Street surgeon perform the procedure in Brussels as it is cheaper there. Same surgeon as in London. I had a post op visit to the Harley Street clinic approximately a year later and was robbed off with a before and after photo saying it looked better than before surgery. I am a 52 year old man. I keep fit several times a week and even resorted to starvation milkshake diets to try and force my body to consume the scar tissue. My advice is diet and exercise instead. Liposuction is very invasive and not a get slim easy fix that I thought it was. stephen.underwood25@googlemail com
