I am 55 years old and I have heard during my life, it is possible to have skin granuloma. I had no idea it could happen to your lungs too. Now I am diagnosed with lung granuloma, as my doctor told me. That is why, I want to hear more about it and what does it mean. I need any info you could tell me because I want to understand my problem.
First, I will tell you common cause why someone could get lung granuloma. Cause could be several of organisms, including Mycobacteria, Histoplasma, and Coccidioides. When patient is hypersensitiv to allergens, or when he suffers of sarcoidosis, it could also be cause of lung granuloma. There are different types of granuloma present, such as Wegener's granulomatosis, and Churg-Strauss granulomatosis. Foreign material, rheumatoid arthritis and lymphomatoid granulomatosis are risk factors that should be considered. If acute inflammatory response fails to deal with antigen then granuloma may form secondary to cell-mediated response. Clinical Correlation between granulomas may eventually be completely replaced by dense collagenous connective tissue. General Microscopic Description I could explain as aggregate of macrophages accompanied by multinucleated macrophages with identical nuclei. Center of lung granuloma may be necrotic, and macrophages may contain recognizable foreign material or organisms, as well as lymphocytes ring the aggregate.
