I just stopped smoking for a month to save some money. And I've had liquid sh*t for a week. Don't know the science behind it but my roommate is going threw the same. Mood, and appetite are normal but liquid sh**s are not. It's funny how that can happen. Feels great being sober every once and a while. I dont understand how people can say they are addicted to it besides the liquid sh**s I feel normal. Weed is awesome and can't wait to smoke again it's good to know that your body doesn't depend on it. Or at least mine isn't. I believe the dependence is mental.

I also just quit smoking after literally staying high as i could all day everysingle day for almost four years straight. I am currently experiencing every withdrawal symptom known to man for quitting including diarrhea nausea after eating headaches loss of appetite tremors sweating insomnia if its on the list im going through it. I have quit before and it was never this difficult but i have realised I completely polluted my body and mind by constantly staying high the way that i did. Im on day 4 of no smoking and have a long way to go. But i know this to shall pass and i owe it to myself to stay away so i can have a better career and life. Good luck to everyone's sobriety

Thanks for your descriptive explanation of why pot causes irritable bowels. I am also a regular pot smoker and recently have started treatment with an antibiotic called Xifaxan. But after reading your article I will stop smoking pot and see if the symptoms are relieved. Not looking forward to being without the relaxing effects of pot!

I smoked when I was a teen up until I had my leg amp'd. Whatever meds they put me on stopped my smoking of weed, cigarettes and drinking. Now, almost 20 years later, I get told that I can have medical MJ. Well, I got it but I think it's given me the big D! Been smoking medMJ for about 3 weeks now. I smoke about 3 small j's a day and I have noticed my BM has become softer and softer over time and today, it was almost like D. I guess I'll have to try a diff type of pot but if this is what it is going to do to me, I'll quit and go back and live with the pains and aches. Being in a w/c doesn't help either with trying to transfer quickly but not making it this morning. Any one else out there having trouble with MED MJ?

I have a feeling serious research is going to be done on this topic as weed starts to become more acceptable in society. I have smoked on and off for 7 years and I experience much of the same that everyone has experienced. Weed without a doubt causes poor gut motility and I have a firm belief that no matter a person's case, weed will slow down your ability to properly digest food, chronic smoker or not. I have friends that are in the same boat that started smoking at an even earlier age than I did and are constantly trying new ways to fix their gut. We are not alone and soon enough information will come to light on this topic and on top of it all education on weed and what it can do to the body's systems is way overdue.

I was in chronic sativa smoker for many years. Quit over a month and a half ago and have had loose stool's ever since. Really frustrating to have to deal with this. I always had a very good compact stool and now it's just not ok. I thought it might be a vitamin deficiency and I started taking iron supplements as well as others. And it helped a tiny bit but not much. For the first month after quitting I was really emotional and irritable. But that has seem to have subsided. Reading other posts here on this form I noticed that some said it may take quite some time before your stools are normal again, and I really hope that's true because it's been a discomfort.
