methadone to suboxone

The first 24 hours on Suboxone is a little uncomfortable. The real pain starts when you quit taking Suboxone.

I know you wrote this 4 years ago but it is making me not as scared from switching to suboxene from methadone. Thank you, I lowered myself down to 30mgs from 100a day at a clinic and just can't afford I anymore. I have insurance now and subox doc will see me in a few days, thanks for the adcice

You go girl she is exactly right!! "dude" isn't ready to quit! You gotta be ready or the addict takes over.Suboxone is great but has side effects bad ones,it has destroyed my teeth among other stange things I'm noticing.but better tHat then the constant hamster wheel of opiates.This is no joke I'm clean ten years and still take medicine,Suboxone.I'm able to live a normal productive life on it.;)

You cannot come off methadone with subone,you simply need to take your methadone right.I'm given methadone and have asked not to be but they don't listen.methadone will keep u off the other drugs if u do right.

okay....i started the methadone clinic in late febuary..aprox:the 22nd. of this year. I only got up to 51mg daily. I now have gotton down to 38mg of meth a day and have completly stopped goingdue to money and transportation issues. My last dose of 38mg way monday morning at 9am. I used a roxy30 yesturday around 3pm. and i now and feeling alittle icky. its now wed aound 12noon and i have suboxone strips but dont know wen to place under my tounge. im scared to get slapped with these crazy withdrawls people r talking boout. pleeeeeeeassssse help.

oooo and i wanna add::: i would go cold turkey off the methadone but i have to take care of my child alone and cant be sick.

My husband was taking Percocet for years for a Back injury.  His doctor switched him to Methadone for Pain.  He has been taking Methadone for pain for 1 and 1/2 years now.

Due to the holiday, he ran short for the very first time.  A family member is visiting that takes Suboxone Film.

My husband usually takes 60mg off Methadone per day.  Since he knew he was going to run short, he has been taking 30mg this entire week.  Yesterday he took his last 20 mg of methadone.  He waited 24 hours and took 8mg strip of Suboxone.

He said he feels nothing.  He took it 2 hours ago. 

My questions are: If he were to go into severe withdrawls, How soon would that have taken effect?

Also, he should get his prescription tomorrow for his methadone.  Since he took a Suboxone today - Can he take his Methadone Tomorrow?

Please help.  I do not want him to be in pain.  He has hid in the bedroom all day today so our daughters dont see him in pain.

I just took my last 50 mgs of methadone yesterday at 430pm. I am going to wait and take my first suboxone on sunday morning., Do you think that is enough time?

I am so very nervous about switching from 50 mgs of methadone to suboxone.....I dont want to be sick.....I took my last dose on 11-28-12 at 430 pm, How long do i need before i can switch over?

Please can someone tell me how does he feel after a few years on suboxon? are they any bad simptoms ?

 

 

Bull#$% if you have been on Methadone you must come all the way down to 30mgs first. Second it depends on how long you been on methadone. NO matter what you have to wait 3 days and for every 6 months you been on methadone add a day to that. The best way to do it is its terrible to say this but do heroin or oxycontin not oxycodone dont get it mixed up but some opiate the strength of an oxycontin 40 for 4 days do that then the next morning you can take a suboxone and feel good. So wait 24 hours after taking your opiates you wont get sick mixing opiates and suboxone you will just waist your opiate feeling. But methadone you will feel like your dying you go into instant withdrawls if its in your system the worst withdrawls you can imagine. I waited 3 days like they say and i thought i was going to die. So you have to wait at least 3 days and get down to 30 mgs of meth before you even think about taking a suboxone. And like i said for every 6 months you were on metadone add another day to the 3 days. But as for opiates you can do opiates but take your opiates in the morning and the next morning start your suboxone. Once you get used to suboxones you will think its a miracle drug you wont have to go to a clinic every day you wont get fat and lose your teeth.

First you have to ween yourself down to 30mgs of methadone before you even think about suboxone. Now you have to go at least 72 hours before you take sub. I hate to say this but its too hard to lay arournd and be sick off of methadone so go find a strong opiate like oxycontin 80s or heroin for at least 3 days. Then for every 6 months you were on meth add a day to the 3 days. Trust me i waited 3 days like they said and took a suboxone and thought i was going to die i went into instant withdrawls. and my dumbass layed around sick for 3 days when i didnt even have to. So what im saying do heroin or a strong opiate for the amount of time i said 3 days plus a extra day for every 6 months you have been on methadone. So you dont have to lay around sick for 3 days you can do opiates and be fine. Now the last day do a strong opiate like an oxy 80 to hold you over to the next morning and you can start your suboxone. Remember 3 days plus add a day for every 6 months you been on meth. And you dont have to lay around sick. You can do other opiates just not metadone i suggest doing heroin or oxys for a week then you definatly dont have to worry about no wds. Just stay away from methadone they are the only 2 drugs that just dont mix. Now once you get used to doing suboxones you will be so happy. You will think its a miralcle drug, but its not the longer you stay on it the harder it will be to get off. But it will hold you over for a couple days 8mgs. And if you ever get the urge to do an opiate you wont get sick you just will be waisting your money because suboxone is an opiate blocker and you can mix the two and not get sick like people say, you will just be waisting your monet if you took a sub in the morning then an opiate. And my suggestion is to never mess with methadone again its a drag going to the clinic every day. They have suboxone drs that will give you 90 a month. And you will see you wont need know where near as much. You can sell the rest for 5 dollers a peice. thats the going rate on the streets of Baltimore the heroin capital of America.

well i had stopped and waited about 52 hours of my last dose of 38mgs methadone and started my suboxone. i only desolved half the 8g strip in the morning then the same at night for a few days, then went down the same way gradually. it took about 1 week and i was okay.. Now the mental anguish is crazy and yes their will be alot of pain. it suckd. But it depends on the person. SOOO many ppl have told me alot of diffrent ways to do this, so i did it this way and it works....pl say be all the way down to 30mgs....i was at 38mg. some ppl say wait 3 days, i waited about 52 hrs. I wanna thank everyone for their help, but you just have to do it because everyone is diffrent.

Everybody who as replied to these posts are all pretty much right on the button. It seems the replies come from personal experience, well Ya ! how would the person know so much. But after fighting a opiate addition and still fighting to get off it all, One important thing came to my mind. " Its all nothing but a crutch to lean on" I would rather have my life back, unfortunetly with a frigin bulging disk in my neck and 2 degenerate disks in my lower back, what would really help with the chronic pain that rubs me of my every day living.
