there is a better way to do it, i got off methadone at like 20 mgs so since the half life of methadone is longer than most opiates i wanted the withdrawal stage to be lessoned, so soon as i got off the methadone i switched over to dope, this may sound crazy but think about it , heroins half life is much shorter as detox starts within 6 -8 hours whereas methadone is 36-48 personally it was 24 for me as if i missesd a dose i felt it right away, so the dope was used to make sure all methadone was devoid in my body, now once that happens now i will only have to wait around 8 hours after last dope fix and i was ready for suboxone, because detoxing from methadone sucks and you will need to wait days so you use the other shortlife opiate to get you out of methadone window and then your wait time will be much shorter and less hellish, sounds crazy but if you know your going on suboxone it makes sense

I was taking methadone along with Percocet and Vicodin whenever I could get my hands on them probably about 70 to 80 mg of perks or bikes and about 30 to 40 mg of methadone when I needed it daily. I switched over to Suboxone the next day after taking 40 to 50 mg of methadone 24 hours prior. It makes no sense that you would have to wait any amount of time when you take it. it is a drug just like the other ones it works right away it does not send you into withdrawals if it makes you feel shitty is because you need to take more of it so to take another strip.

i took 10 mg  of methadone today and i have suboxene but im scared to take it because everyone is telling me that it will put me into withdraws.i was in a clinic but i walked out last week so i have managed to ween myself down to 10mg a day..plz help

I am completely feeling everyone's pain,confusion,& fear. I too experienced the worst withdrawal in my life the first time I took SUBOXONE. I really thought I was going to die!! But now I'm in a totally different mindset & have been clean & sober for 2.8 yrs. I'm currently on 30mgs. I intend on going to 10mgs & then swinging to SUBOXONE. IVE BEEN ON METHADONE FOR 18 yrs. I am coming off of methadone of 10 years doctor prescribed. I have weaned myself down to 10mg a day for a number of years. But now the doctors don.t care whether you are sick or now. They just quit giving me prescription and told me to suffer. Now I know I am not on a high dose by this is only day 2 and I am sweating to dehydration. I am drinking lots of water but my question is how come they don't care. I am 67 years old with severe arthritis. They have offered nothing other than meloxicam for pain. I really don't understand as I really have not be exposed to drug addiction before. I did not even know that I was on a drug until they made me sign a pain management contract. I did and now they say I failed. Which is a lie because I have not even had a blood test or UA. I am confused and in pain. Can anyone help.

it has to bulid up in your system same as meth did for all those years. 2 suboxone the first day and one or two each day after that works. Plus withdrawal from suboxone is way easier then meth or drugs

Is the methadone you take liquid? the suboxone that is available at the clinic I go to don't have the whatever in it that throws you into withdrawal,you can go straight to suboxone from methadone without the problems you're having..Ask your dr about that..you shouldn't have to experience all of this to switch over,that's ridiculous for them to let that happen to you over and over..Good luck in whatever you chose to do..why did you want to switch over from methadone to suboxone? I've been in methadone treatment for 8 yrs,and dont' know when I'll get off of it.I'd rather be addicted to methadone than pain pills anyway..

HEy im on 80 mg of methadone and I want to get off onto suboxone...my doctor told me to dose down to 40 mg, then wait 2 hours and then take a 8 mg suboxone strip...Im scared to follow those instructions bc I don't want to go into major precitated withdrawls! how bad was the switch over from 70 mg for you? its inspiring to hear that there are ppl out there who have done it!

your Dr. is a complete id**t and should be banned from giving meds untill he takes a course on the sh*t he,s giving out, I would have reported him, I had a Dr. that did the exact same thing to me and YES I thought I was going to die, I ended up in the hospital and was sick for 4 days.

I'm going to save your life if you're still hooked on Methadone, Oxy's or Suboxone. Look up "Ibogaine" - it cured my best friend (oxy / methadone habit in 8 days that would kill most, he could handle over 10 x 80mg oxy's per day and was cured with ZERO withdrawals. I'm about to switch and scared to death. Been on doses of 100 - 135 of done fore over 7 years. I've went from 92 mgs down to my last dose tomorrow of 17 mgs. In 15 days. 5 mgs per day. I feel horrible now. After I dose at 6 am I will be feeling bad by 5 o'clock. I think I can make it 30 - 36 hrs after 6am when I take last 17 mg dose. What y'all think??

I'm on 70mg methadone and it's been 50 hours since my last dose .. Do you think it's safe to take a sub now?
