I've removed approximately a dozen moles and skin tags over the years with toenails clippers. I just removed one from under my arm on my side about an hour ago, hence why I am here. For small skin tags and such, I just clip them off next to the skin; no different than cutting a string from a piece of clothing. For larger ones, I gently work the mole in between the sharp edges of the clippers so they are positioned to sever it at the base. I apply slow, gentle pressure to clamp the base and check my placement. If it is positioned correctly to remove the entire mole/tag I give the clippers a sharp, committed squeeze to completely remove it. Before I release the clippers, I pull away from my body to make sure the mole/tag comes with the clippers. There is usually next to no pain. Bleeding varies from none on some of the small skin tags to the same bleeding you would expect from ripping off a scab of equal size on the larger moles. I usually do the big ones right before a shower and by the time I'm out of the shower, the bleeding has stopped, and it's all clean. Scarring seems to follow the size of what was removed; none on the smallest up to minimal on large almost dime-sized ones. I think using sharp clippers with cutting edges that meet cleanly is vital to minimizing bleeding and scarring.
Aloe Vera and a band aid has worked for me with skin tags, but moles I just amputate. I get them on my neck and shoulders sometimes, and had them checked and I am cancer-free. First I clean the area with alcohol, then I sanitize super sharp scissors (designed for cutting plastic film). I cut two at most in a session, after which I clean again, apply Neosporin and bandaid. After two days I take off the bandaid and it is usually healed. Then I hit two more, if I have any.
Hey guys, I've been reading all of this thread and there's been some interesting ideas. I have a mole on my face on the corner of my mustache above my lip and I really wanna get rid of it. It gets in the way when I shave shave often gets cut. It's not big enough to tie a string around and I don't want to snip it off and have a scar where I can't grow my stash if I wanted to. So what should I try? Aloe, or the apple cider vinegar, or does someone got another way? Please help me out.
I just tied off a big mole that was under my arm and had bothered me for years. It was large and stuck out with a "stem" that attached it to my skin. I tried apple cider vinegar for awhile, but this mole was pretty big and the vinegar seemed like it would only kill part of it at a time. Also, changing the band aid every day made the skin around the mole very irritated. I just tied dental floss around the mole. I tied it in a bow so that I could tighten it every so often. When I was home, I would untie it and tighten it often. When I was out, I just didn't worry about it. This method works, but it isn't for the feint of heart. The mole got pretty gross. It swelled, got red and sore, and I was worried for awhile that I had just made things worse. But then it started to get black and die. Eventually I got tired of waiting for it to fall off and I cut it off. No pain, no blood, just a tiny mark on my skin that is shrinking away now. I'm so glad I did it but I'm very glad I don't have any other moles like this one - I don't know if I would have the nerve to do it again.
I just have to say "Woow". Have you guys ever heard of skin cancer? Do not remove any moles by yourself, it could be dangerous and life threatening!
Most of the moles are benign but some could be actually malignant , like melanoma which is the deadliest form of all skin cancers. Melanoma spreads through your skin and can enter your lymphatic system , which means it can travel anywhere in your body. It could end up in your foot, liver (liver cancer), lungs (lung cancer), brain (brain cancer). Simply everywhere.
If you try to remove it at home you could trigger an unstoppable chain of reaction which will eventually result in cancer.
There is no cure for this type of skin cancer. Not even a close one, it is very unpredictable and uncontrollable. The best way to prevent this from happening is to regularly check your moles and see a dermatologist if you notice something weird.
Best way to recognize Melanoma is ABCDE rule
- Asymmetry - check if your mole is even, meaning if you cut it in half would the two pieces be the same or different (asymmetry is a signt)
- Borders - check if your mole has uneven borders
- Color - The color of your mole is important, dark colors or discoloration within the mole is the sign of melanoma.
- Diameter - Moles should not be big in diameter
- Elevation - Check how much the mole is elevated from your skin. Bigger elevation means bigger trouble because mole goes deep in your skin as it goes from the skin ( which means it can reach your blood vessels and lymphatic system)
These are just basic signs of a skin cancer. If you want to know more , please reply here and i can provide you with more information.
p.s. I removed a malignant melanoma from my back, and went through a therapy. I can give you the first hand experience with this beast.
All in all, do not remove any moles by yourself. Moles are only surgically removed ( it's not big of a deal), procedure lasts 15 mins and you go home right away.
Stay well
I wanted to get ridof a mole, so I've cut it off. After a few weeks it grone back so I've cut it off agin, and only now I've heard that appearantly I can get cancer for doing this. Will I?
I'm so scared now, and Im only 12, don't want to go to the doctor, but what can I do?
Hello Guest,
First of all , i am really surprised as to why would you actually cut it off? Especially at such young age. What exactly did you hear about the cancer?
If you want to me to answer your question you need to tell me some more about it:
- Why did you cut it off?
- What did the mole look like (color, shape, elevation)?
- What did you use to cut it off?
- After you cut it, was there any bleeding?
- Do your parents know about it?
Hope to hear from you soon
