I have had same experience as you. Did you ever find out what the issue is? I would live to know because I have seen a couple of doctors and they didn't find a cause.

The same thing is happening to me! Why don't they take the cervix if you keep bleeding with it still?

I spotted every month for about 18 and now nothing for the past 4 months, I had just the uterus removed. I am hoping the spotting never returns!

It was as if I wrote this post myself!  I'm so happy to finally find others that are living with this same c**p!  I am also 37, had a partial hysterectomy 3.5 years ago.  Left my cervix and ovaries intact, for "hormonal and support" purposes.  If I would have known I would still be dealing with all of this now, I would have had everything taken out at once!  I also went thru all of the cervical nitrate treatments, left my doctor completely bewildered and frustrated with me.  I have had a period every 25 days since the surgery, and now they are becoming heavier each month.  I thought my days of tampons were OVER!  :(

I also have PCOS, and have been dealing with the pain in that one pesky ovary more and more each month now.  I have thought about having that removed, and then might as well remove the cervix this time too, but then I'm scared of the complications I endured in the first surgery, and then the thought of having all of the pelvic support problems without the cervix too... Ugh.  Isn't it just wonderful being a woman??

Good luck to all of you ladies!  I'm sorry all of you are suffering with this nonsense too, but atleast we finally know that we are not all alone:)

I am 34 from Upstate Ny, and litterally just had a hysterectomy yesterday. They removed my cervix and uterus due to stage 2 cervical/uterine cancer. It was definitely the right choice to do for me, as the only other option was going to be chemo and radiation. I will say that from some of ur stories, its scarey because u would think they would remove everything for u the first time instead of going it through it all again. I am in a ton of pain( to the point that Morphine did not touch the pain), and to think some of u are going through it again saddens me. I had it done laprascopy with vaginal assist, and they left only my tubes. I wont get periods because the rest is gone, but its extremely painful. Its nice in a way though as well because by leaving my tubes, it didnt throw me immediately into menopause. I strongly suggest getting atleast ur cervix/uterus removed if ur having sexual intercourse pain, lower back pain, abdominal pain as this is also signs of endometriosis. That cant be determined until they do laprascopy, so thats my suggestion as a nurse myself.

Joi - here's hoping your recovery is swift.  The recovery is long.  If you have not yet hung up your superwoman cape, please do so for quite some time.

In May 2011 I had a partial hysterectomy (uterine removal laproscopically).  The long recovery was about 6 weeks.  It was not pretty.  I have been spotting after strained bowel movements for many months but the "periods" are becoming more defined.  I even started having PMS symptoms again  (severe bloating, tender breasts, etc).  I was concerned enough to make a visit to the OB.  They did a pap smear.  Today I received a call stating that although the pap was "normal," they found endometrial cells on my cervix which are apparently not normal to find on the cervix.  I was told that the type of cells they found are normally found in the uterus (which I no longer have.)  They have scheduled a colposcopy.

Here comes another glitch to the story.  They stated in my exam that my cervix is falling as well as my bladder.  I am facing another surgery to have my cervix removed.  I know there are issues as when I sneeze, I have light incontinence.  Plus, I can sometimes feel that something is moving into the top of my vagina so I do believe there are issues with that but it doesn't explain the bleeding each month.

I'm frustrated.  Part of me just wants to get my cervix removed.... but I am left to deal with the bladder issues, too..... plus, from what I read on here, it doesn't sound like that removing my cervix will ensure no bleeding.

There don't appear to be easy answers and many questions.  Why am I bleeding in the first place?  Why am I experiencing PMS symptoms again after a time with none?  Why didn't the doctors opt to remove the cervix in the first place?  Why are these cells in my cervix when they are supposed to be in the uterus?

If anyone has answers to any of these questions or is experiencing similar issues, please write.  It really does help to know that I'm not alone.  I was happy to find this blog.

I had a hysterectomy March of 12, (uterus/cervix) I left my ovaries because I didnt want to go through menopause earlier then needed (only 43). I started having cramping menstrual feeling on Monday and Tuesday I started spotting. (just a bit; only when wiping) last x2 day. I called by GYN and she didn't seemed to be worried about it and also she is out of town. I WAS WORRIED! I thought I wasn't aware of any spotting/periods etc after a hysterectomy. I seen another GYN and was checked. FOUND no source of spotting!! UGH!!

I'm 30 and 11.5 months ago I had a vaginal hysterectomy, removing my cervix and uterus.  I was out of the hospital in 2 days, and climbing stairs and doing laundry at home within another 4 days.  I've never bled or had any "symptoms" of a period since (and I did track when my cycle would be since I had the procedure done).  I cannot believe the stories I am hearing here!  I am so sorry for you women!  In my very unprofessional opinion, I'd be going back to get things taken care of....mine was so easy and best thing that ever happened to me.....shouldn't it be the same for all of you?  Good luck!

I am 47 years old and had a hysterectomy last month. Everything was removed except one ovary. I thought I had fibroids and blocked tubes, but it turned out I also had very advanced endometriosis...After finally deciding to have the surgery with little encouragement from doctors, it turned out that serious problems would have ensued had I not had it done.

I am extremely grateful for all of the tricky work that was done on me, but during surgery the entrance of my vagina was cut, likely with a retractor....I haven't heard of anyone else who's had this issue....but I've realized that it should heal and in the big picture I can't complain. I didn't have any serious complications.     The reason I'm reading this thread....after no bleeding for four weeks post-surgery, I now feel like I'm having a mini-period. Crampy and blood is coming from the cuts in vaginal entrance. (They are stiched but not healed and several areas have gaps.) I had all my typical PMS symtoms before the bleeding started. I feel like there must be endometriosis sneaking through. My surgeon is not available for consult right now and I don't feel it's serious enough to go to the emergency. Reading this thread has been helpful. Would anyone be able to tell me more about the silver nitrate treatment. It was mentioned to me.

Thank you and good luck to every one.

Hello, I am 31 years old and had a hysterectomy 5 weeks ago. I only had the uterus removed, I still have my ovaries and cervix. I have been spotting brown since the surgery. Not only that but I have the worst cramping pain on my right side. I was told by the doctor that my intestines might be knotting up due to a lack of bowel movement, which happens with surgery sometimes, which is what may be causing the cramping pain. I am at a loss.

I had quite a bit of intestinal pain, but now after 8 weeks, I am feeling great.

How are you having a period when you do not have a uterus anymore?

Ladies,

I am in shock. I was considering hysterectomy myself but after reading your posts I am not. I do not know what is worse. Having terrible pain twice a month and bleeding and knowing a reason for it, or having it all cleaned and be in even more pain from organs wabling around and cysts appearing, having to take cenna so I could go potty without pain, hormonal issues and most bazarre the bleeding...Where is the bleeding coming from? doctors do not know? Oh my God! What is going on with our bodies? We are convinced that hysterectomy is the answer but then we find out it is not, what are we to do? why are we lied to? Is hysterectomy became a production line?

I had a partial hysterectomy a three weeks ago.  I had to have the surgery because of a very heavy cloddy menstrul cycle so I wasn't suppose to have a cycly anymore.  Well I came on like clock work with again a very cloddy menstrul cycle and I'm sure this isn't normal.  I'm sure I better not have went through this surgery only to continue to have a cloddy heavy cycle and now I'm having cramps.  I am very upset that I wasn't told that I may have a cycle if that was the case I wouldn't have done it lossing time off work for nothing.
