Hi. I'm 45 years old, had my hysterectomy 1 year ago. I had my uterus, cervix, and tubes removed, but still have both ovaries. I ao had my vaginal canal sutured at the top. My surgery was complicated and life saving, so a necessity. It was laparoscopically done and my uterus was removed through my vagina. After surgery, I had complications, like a hematoma at the top of my vaginal canal which manifested in bright red vaginal bleeding and slight discomfort in my abdomen. I was cauterized repeatedly. It's now been just over a year since my surgery, and I still have spotting every month for about 5 days like clockwork. I've gone back to the surgeon repeatedly about it and he said it is the first time in his career that this has happened. He said I'm completely sealed at the top of my canal, and says he doesn't have an answer for the bleeding, as the hematoma shave completely dissolved in my ultrasounds. He suggested that my bleeding could be due to low estrogen during the month, causing the walls of my vagina to become thin and bleed with friction from walking during that time when I would have had a period. He suggested I use a topical estrogen cream to help this. Glad to read your post as I felt I was alone in the world! If you've found answers, please post! It's scary having doctors say they don't know why! Another suggestion was that I may still have a small piece of uterine tissue still that is shedding every month...don't know. But I'm thinking that thin tissue may be the problem as I've noticed it's worse when I wear tighter jeans that irritate that area during that time and I bleed. I don't bleed wearing those jeans at other times of the month.

I just want to say that doctors know very little about womens’ bodies. I had my cervix, uterus, Fallopian tubes, and left ovary removed 9 months ago. The surgeon said my right ovary would still work, but it did not and I went into instant, severe menopause. I healed normally, but at about 5 months post-op I was having spotting. I saw a OBGYN and he said it was “granulation” or the scar on the vaginal cuff. In the past two weeks it has felt like my right ovary has been hurting. ive been really cranky and I’m also bloated and Have been retaining water. I’m now having what looks like a mini period. Honestly, I think my left ovary finally woke up and is causing the scar tissue to bleed. But, I’m sure no doctor would ever agree with that conclusion.

I just had an LAVH a month ago. Uterus , cervix, fallopian rubes but kept the ovaries . I am now having brownish discharge , pain and extremely tired. Today I'm having bleeding like the start of a regular period. Is this nirmal?

I have the exact same issue. Total hysterectomy and still have what I call my “coma” because there is no full period. My doctor said I may have some endometrial tissue in a fold (she couldn’t find anything on exam) and that it’s not an issue. She told me if it became heavy or bright red then to contact her immediately. Otherwise I’m stuck with what I have. Argh!

I still bleed every month I had a hysterectomy nearly 2 years ago. They removed my uterus tubes and cervix. I am in absolute agony at the moment with it. I have been treated for endo several times but none of the doctors are concerned and have said I have to learn to live with it.

I had a partial hysterectomy 6 weeks ago ... only thing I kept was cervix - ovaries, tubes and uterus was removed. I am on day 4 of what appears to be a period. Not sure what to think really - just know that I am unsure why I am still having my period without ovaries!

I am 43 too. I had a hysterectomy in December removing my uterus, tubes bc I had essure and my full cervix as well. They created a cuff where my cervix used to be. I have had lots of brown discharge, pain not as bad as before, but now have daily light pink colored discharge almost everyday! I thought with the removal of my full uterus, tubes and full cervix I would not be dealing with daily light bleeding. Could it be my ovary which do grow monthly cysts that rupture and are painful. Don't know what to do.

I had just my uterus removed nearly 13-14yrs ago due to horrible endometriosis problems. And although I don’t bleed a ‘ period out ‘ nearly every month around when it’s within a few days b4 or after would’ve been my period I still feel pms like changes in appitaite mood sleep bloating more likely to get a couple pimples ( which I’ve never had any problems with until these last 5 or so ) I’ve had more cyst develop on & inside both tubes n handful on each ovary too. Extremely painful when they break! Dear God that’ll send u to the floor Quickly!! So if what ur asking is it ‘normal’ to feel basically PMS after partial hysterectomy idk but I’ll say ur not alone!

So last June I had a partial hysterectomy due to a tumor and adenomyosis. I had complications during surgery because the doctor nicked my bowel. I healed okay, but several months later I started to have bleeding and I thought it was just because I hadn't healed completely. But then it became once a month norm and this time i'm having cramping too! All I could think of is that the doctor didn't remove it all but now i'm reading this blog realizing i'm not alone! This truly sucks because the last thing I need is to go through the menstrual pain again! Its horrible! I definitely don't want to go through another surgery as this was my second due to a typical ligation 15 months before. Is it worth the agony?

You may need to have to have your cervix and ovaries removed if you had tumor in the past I don't understand why your doctor didn't do that the 1st time around. Good luck hun & yes I would definitely get a 2nd opinion.

I had my uterus removed but I was left with my two ovaries and cervix. It's been 5 years and I still bleed monthly but not enough to wear a pad my Dr said it was normal but I still worry a little when I think about it.
