Greetings Hysto-Sisters, had my Hysto in March and left the ovaries as I am just 45, they did remove the cervix and this all completed by Lapro/Vag it wasn't too bad I was back to work within a week, its now been 7 weeks and thank goodness no bleeding just a bit of Hormonal shifts little PMS but nothing bad, I do feel for all those sisters experiencing bleeding and cramping. I being a nurse would go get a second opinion because the bleeding is coming from something other than a uterus. Good Luck and Happy Mothers day!!!!!

The site saved my mind before and after my hyster. I'm in week 5 of post op right now for a LSH (laproscopic assisted hyster with cervix kept and one ovary removed). Believe me, it was and is a godsend. They keep topics for those who had hysters. Like my topic is for us ladies who had our hysters done for the week of april 10 - 17th 2013. Those of us who fall in on one of those days post there to let each other know how we're doing, etc. Obviously there are weeks prior and upcoming as well. Please check it out. You'll get far better advice. The motto is, of course, that each woman heals differently, no one there gives advice to take the place of your dr/gyne/surgeon, etc, but we are there to help those waiting for surgery and those who have had surgery done.
hope to see you there, ladies. :)

I am 35. Five years ago my uterus and cervix were removed, leaving both my ovaries. Every month I experience slight bloating, and tend to be a little moody (nothing drastic). Every 3 months it seems I am extremely bloated and have "churning" pain in my ovaries. I am told this is normal, and since it has all been like clock work for the last five years, I am not lead to think any differently. Once, I did have a cyst in my ovary rupture, so be sure to pay attention to those ovary pains, and go in to see the doctor when they are very intense. Another thing to note, that I am hearing from other friends their doctors don't talk to them about is, with the loss of your uterus, your natural saratonin levels are down, which is what helps you stay chemical balanced mentally. So, as you come out of your hysterectomy, talk with your doctor about being out on a low dosage of depression medication. LOW, we are talking a quarter to half of a standard dosage daily. If you aren't already doing this and have had a hysterectomy, you will find that after starting a regular dosage, you will be less irritable during your "proverbial" monthly. :-)

I had a hysterectomy in June and they removed m Fallopian tubes, a piece of one ovary, my uterus but had to leave a very small piece of my cervix because when they went in the found I had very bad endometriosis. I have had a full blown period every since. Is this normal. I am getting so frustrated..

It took approximately 8 years for me to start having a period after a supercervical hysterectomy. We should all sue! I wish they would have told me; I wouldn't be getting ready to do this again. I'm really ticked.

Hi, I am 33 years old and I have had 4 c-sections, the last one I nearly died during due to borderline placenta previa in the front and major blood loss. I never had really bad periods before this last one. But ever since I started my periods again in April, the las 3 have been AWFUL with HEAVY bleeding lasting 3 weeks, along with bad cramping. (I'm talking bleeding so heaving that I soak through a super absorbency tampon within AN HOUR, instead of 4-6 hours like I used to, and I had one literally FALL out of me because it was so full and had so much blood backed up behind it. I am planning on demanding a subtotal hysterectomy, leaving behind my cervix and both ovaries. I really don't care if I still continue to get a light period, as long as this stupidly, ridiculously heavy bleeding is taken care of permanently. That's all I want is for these stupid heavy periods to cease. My childbearing is complete, so I have no further need for my uterus.

Wow...I am glad I am not the only one! I had a hysterectomy, with removal of uterus, cervix, and one ovary in March. Every month like clock work, I have been spotting. I have had several exams, several sonograms, and a cat scan. They can't find anything. They are thinking that there is some area that may still have a little endometriosis pocket, that is bleeding each month thanks to the hormones I still have from the one ovary that remains. I had EXTREME endometriosis and adhesions through out the pelvis and the surrounding area that were found during surgery. The surgeon removed a ton. He wanted to save an ovary if he could to keep me from going in to surgical menopause. Now I wish he would have just taken the dang ovary! I can't believe this and it is driving me insane! The last thing I want is to have surgery again! Has anyone had this same experience???? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
