my niece was born with a scar on her cornea because of this she is partially blind in one eye is this something that can be repaired with surgery, the doctor she is seeing says there is nothing that can be done so we have offered to bring her to the US and pay for all the consultations and checkups just wondering if anyone knows if htis is possible?
My son was born with severe eye problems (1 eye) they were going to perform a corneal transplant, then a lensectomy, the transplant never happened as there were just to many outside complications.
His pedi told us he had an infantile catarct and suggested we take him to a specialist her in Rochester where we live. This specialist confirmed the fact that it was not a cataract and was appalled at the pedi's diagnosis.
We were sent to the Boston Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston Mass where my son, 3 months old at the time, endured extensive testing.
Unfortunatly his diagnosis was not a good one but to this day he acts and looks like there is nothing wrong.
Don't take one doctors word for anything. Here in Rochester they have an excellent hospital that specializes in problems of the eye, but 33 years ago it wasn't available in our area. That is why we flew to Boston. The doctors were excellent with him and tho the diagnosis was not a good one, the prognosis was wonderful.
