Wow, that sounds scary. I have been to the hospital twice in the last 6 weeks. The doc says my gall bladder should come out. I feel like I can't take it any more, but after reading your story, I am really wondering.

Physician that you for posting! I had my gall bladder out 4 weeks ago and have been nauseated the last few days. When I called my surgeon she brushed me off. I have been worried that something else was wrong but after reading your post I see that this is just my body adjusting.Thank you so much for posting this!

Yes I had mine out 4 1/2 weeks ago and I've been battling nausea for the last 4 days! I think it just takes time for our bodies to get use to not having a gall bladder. Good luck to you and me both!

Lets keep writing---i had mine out august 5th and still have bouts of nausea and bile diarrhea---some days are good and some bad---i am taking digestive enzymes prescribed by my naturopath and carafate and prilosec prescribed by my physician---carafate has helped the most because from all my research, I think my symptoms are from bile and carafate addresses that---also, from all my tests, I had inflammation in my stmach according to the endoscope----are you on any medications/

Hi angie

I just wanted to check and see if you still look at the forum...How are you feeling now? I am somewhat better but still have days of not feeling well. I am on Protonix, Carafate, digestive enzymes and aloe vera. Someone said it took her almost a year to feel normal again... This is a frustrating situation..I would love to communicate with you if you are still there...

It takes on average 3-6 months to return to normal function.

Ejection fraction is how well your gallbladder ejects the bile to help digest.....significant decreases indicate a stone or sludge meaning it needs to be removed. After surgery, you must realize that you have significant;y altered the normal process! It takes time for your body to readjust to the changes. Things that may help include aciphex or live and active culture foods.

Other than that, removal (cholecystectomy) is a cure, not a miracle, immediate cure. Fixing anything in your body that is broken/malfunctioning takes time to repair (ie bone break, large cut, etc). Don't expect immediate resolution of any problem - but don't hesitate to fix the underlying problem and have a (VERY GOOD) chance at recovery - even if the recovery is not immediate.

Also, note that there are many post starting a few weeks after surgery and they scare you, etc....but after several months (ie the recommended 3-6 months needed) there are VERY FEW follow up complaints of non-resolution. I would think these people would follow up if they were still having such problems after the time that is allowed for GI healing!

I know its not what everyone wants to hear, but this is an injury that does not always have an immediate cure after surgery. Its frustrating, but have hope that I have RARELY seen an individual after 6 months still have persistent problems.

I hope thins helps!

I had the exact smae thing---I lived nauseated for 5 months after my surgery and had diarrhea on and off---even had pain under left ribs---Around Thanksgiving , after a million tests(CT scans, samll bowel study, endoscope, colonoscopy, MRIs, blood work 3 times, they finally did a gastric emptying test and discovered I have slow motility and changed my meds---I feel so much better and gained back the 18 pounds I lost...What are your symptoms?

I have had GERD for a long time - on Prevacid daily. Had my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago and the last week has been terrible. More GERD AND NAUSEA. Made an appointment with a new specialist for the end of next month. Hope it's just recovery time.

I had absolutely no digestive issues before July of last year---I started with GERD and nausea---had my gallbladder out in August----never got rid of the GERD and nausea all the time---they ran every single test and after months and losing 18 pounds which brought me to 100 pounds, my GI doctor did a stomach emptying test but really thought it would be negative since I didn't have any of the diseases which cause slow stomach emptying....It came back positive saying my stomach empties too slowly---I am now on a different protocol of medicines and do feel much less GERD and nausea---I also had pain under my left shoulder blade and in my ribs---I am getting physical therapy because an MRI showed two herniated disks, but I really think some of that pain is digestive in nature...I never vomited when I was nauseated but definitely couldn't eat much and when I did eat I felt worse---it was a nightmare for five or six months---I couldn't even work every day and reaaly felt like they were overlooking something---
