Hi I have been takin the Yasmin pill for 5 months and just stopped taking it on 10th September. I was due to start my period on the 11 October 2012. But I still have not started, which means I am 5 days late. I spoke to my gp earlier who said I could be preganant if I am sexually active, which I am. She also said it is common to have a dlay on period after stopping the pill..

I'm in the exact same boat you are/were in. I took Yasmin from age sixteen and stopped taking it around June this year ('12), had two normal-ish periods in July and August and now there are no signs of a period. I say normal-ish because I was twenty days late for the first one and even later for the second - however they lasted three days which is how long they have always lasted and I had tender breasts/moodiness for a few days before.

In the past few days my breasts have begun to feel really tender/painful again and I have been afraid that I could be pregnant, even though my instincts tell me I'm not, but especially after reading this forum I really don't think I'm pregnant. I'll take a test just in case and if they're not rectified soon I'll see my doctor.

Yasmin was good to me the same way it was to you and then started toying with me, making me feel depressed, lonely etc. and so I came off it. I'm just wondering, since you and I have been in pretty much the same situation as one another, have your periods gone back to normal since April? I see it's been 7 months since you posted. If not, have you done anything about it? What were the results?

Sorry about all the questions! No problem if you don't feel comfortable answering them - I am just so glad I'm not the only one going through this! Can't help feeling very mad with my doc for not letting me know this could happen!

Hi, I wouldn't worry too much about this. It's wise, if you miss a pill, to make sure you take it within 12 hours - that's what the doctor says anyway. However I missed three pills in a row about a year ago so if it had meant anything I'd have roughly a three-month-old baby now, but I don't. When you miss one, just take it when you remember and continue to take the pills normally every day afterwards. It's useful to set a reminder on your phone for a time of the day where you know you'll be able to take it, and keep your pills with you at all times. I did that and I found myself taking it on the bus/train/in a uni lecture - I didn't care as long as I wasn't getting pregnant! Since it's been three months though I appreciate that this answer isn't too useful for you, but I hope everything was fine in the end and you got your period as normal.

Same for me! I stopped taking Yasmin because i got break through bleeding which I've never experience when not on the pill, or with any other pills. After I stopped Yasmin it took 3 months for my period to come back, then I had it normally for 2 cycles, then it stopped for 6 months and now it back to normal. I did see my doctor about this several times and he said it's not unusual to have irregular cycles after stopping the pill and wasn't concerned. Was taling Yasmin for 2 years when i stopped.

I would take a pregnancy test if you had unprotected sex since you've stopped taking the pill, but let me reassure you with this -- I have been on continuous contraceptive (the pill) where I would take it throughout the year and only stop 3-4 times a year to have a period. I've been doing that for 5 years or so; and for 5 years before that, I had been taking the pill and had a monthly period. I stopped taking the pill this past May (2012). It is now January, 2013 and I STILL have not had a period! I'm not in pre-menopause or anything; in fact, since this began, I was at first delighted not to have a period. But now my hormones are out of whack (I'm only 33) & my hair has been falling out so I'm trying to find someone (a dr.) who can work w/ me (it's out of my regular dr.'s expertise). I have no other weird symptoms that could be thyroid or androgen overload or whatever... in fact, as I've been researching about this, I've been learning it's not that uncommon to not have a period for awhile after you've been taking the pill a long time.
Sorry, that was a little more info than you probably wanted. But my point is, it does not mean something is wrong with you that you haven't had a period. Especially if your pill had progesterone (or whatever) in it. (so I'm told). But like I said, if you have been having unprotected sex since then, I'd get a pregnancy test b/c you may have ovulated and just never got your period as a result...
Either way, if you don't have a period for much longer (and you're not pregnant) - see your dr. b/c you don't want your hair falling out like me! ;)

Hey, I have a similar problem but a little different - can't seem to find any answers anywhere!  I started a period on the 28th Nov for 4 days, on the 2nd Dec I started taking microgynon (not been on anything for about 8 years), it was making me feel really ill, I was crying, couldn't eat, so after 10 days (11th Dec) stopped taking it.  On the 13th Dec I had another period for 4 days, a proper period...when am I likely to come on again now??  Any ideas?

I was on Yasmin (5 years) and then yaz (1.5 years) and came off October 2012. Had a regular period 1 month later in November 2012, but then nothing since - its now 2nd Feb 2013. Im TTC and have taken 1 preg test per week to be sure, but all negative :(

Has anyone got any advice on how to regulate my period again - im worried Im not ovulating and therefore can't get pregnant.

What pills/diet will help me get back on track?

I stopped Yasmin after 3 years being on the pill. I did not get any signs of ovulation, or a menstrual bleeding for 12 months after stopping the pill. I went to see the doctor several times and was told that it can take some time. When I got my period after 12 months, it was regular after that. Good luck!

And to add, I didn't have any intercourse thus there was absolutely no chance of me being pregnant. After that experience, I decided for a natural method - the LadyComp is really great and measures your fertility based on basal body temperature!
