12/3 posting guest, you seem to be an unhelpful smart aleck. i hope you are not a doctor or med student, because your reply was unnecessarily rude. unfortunately, you probably ARE in the medical field, given your canned "oh don't overreact you idiots" approach to answering questions.

yeah, it IS a pulse. and you know what else? it's annoying. and it's happening for some reason, be that benign or otherwise. some people are annoyed by it. some are a little freaked out. some are just simply curious.

mine has been happening for a week. it's definitely in a vessel on the left side of my nose above the nostril. even my med student friends seemed perplexed. i'm not scared, although it would be understandable if i was. but i'm curious and mildly concerned.

12/3 guest... Well, if this is a pulse related to the pulse generated by my beating heart, then I guess my heart just started beating about a month ago despite the fact that i've been around for over 30 years, and the pulse is halfway from top to bottom, across the bridge of my nose... and it stops for a few days, then goes into fibrillation for 1/2 day, then tingle-pulses steadily for a few days after that. I'm still here though. So, you mean to tell me that my nose may possibly have its own heart?.. Or might you have some other logical explanation, or have you anything more to add to that effect, Dr. 12/3?. IMO, i think stress or anxiety.. Prolonged, low level stress or anxiety, which obviously begins to have an effect on our physical health after prolonged "exposure"... Good luck, guys. I don't know what else it would be attributable to, but please rule out other causes/symptoms to be sure it is not, in fact, something more serious.

I started having the nose twitch and tingling in my extremities. When I investigated what I was doing differently, I found one common theme. I started using Stevia in everything I was drinking. Stevia and coffee increase blood flow, which could be a reason for the nose twitching etc.
That's my conclusion so far....

I had a twitch above the bridge of my nose this morning and although my heart has been beating for the last 24 years, I have rarely felt it on my body. I know it may sound weird but the last time it happened it was above my lip after kissing someone which was freaky but funny.

It's happening above my nose right now and it's very annoying cause it is making me frown. The worst thing was I had a job interview earlier and it happened when I met the interviewer and I was lucky she didn't spot it.

It started at home this morning but I wasn't nervous about the interview so I can't put it down to nerves. When I kissed that girl I dunno what happened then but something is triggering off these pulsating twitches.

Its a mineral deficiency. have some pumkin seeds. It makes it stop. You need more magnesium etc.
not serious and nothing to do with ure pulse. entirely neurological.

To completely determine the exact nature of your problems you need to be seen by your primary care physician.

I will try to reassure you that an abnormal nose sensation (pulse, twitch, spasm, itch, etc.) is not generally associated with an acute development of a debilitating and/or life threatening disease.

My suggestion:
- Eat a healthy diet high in greens
- Cut back on processed food
- try supplemental vitamin replacement
- sleep at least 8 hours a night
- avoid alcohol, illegal drugs, and tobacco
- check complete list of side effects of current medications to see if symptoms coincide
- Get an appointment with doctor....if nothing else but for a routine check-up/physical -- if need be you can mention the strange nose sensation

Final suggestion - the internet is not the ideal place for diagnosis of personal medical problems - you can place yourself in hundreds of disease categories that have symptoms that match yours

I have had the same virtually since Christmas it felt like I was going to have a nose bleed or a cold but never got one, its like my nose is being pushed inwards its a pressure for sure but also tingling and sort of twitching.
It is mainly in the center of my nose near the bridge but the symptoms almost like a headache go down to my lips and teeth sometimes.
Though its not painful it feels awful and scary, I looked in the mirror the other day and could actually see small movements just like a twitch.
My doctor prescribed nasal spray for sinusitis but its not that for sure.
I don't know what else to do now as its obvious its nerve related and its really getting me down.

Ok I have given it some thought, as I too have this odd symptom and also consume caffeine/have had a recent change in exercise routine. Here is my theory:

This has been happening to me on and off for about 2 years (I, too, am 23 now), and in that span of time it appears that the bridge of my nose has changed somewhat, though I am not sure if this is due to normal growth or a cause of this weird symptom. I think the twitching itself stems from the periods of time where I WASN'T exercising. I think that my nose was "panicking" during those times because my immune system wasn't being provided with rigorous exercise/proper nutrients. Due to this sudden lack of activity on my part, various toxins I was inhaling were remaining inside my nasal passage, possibly infecting it. My nose had to take excessive measures to maintain its wellbeing, since I certainly wasn't doing so for it.

Now that I am back into a rigorous exercise routine (I jogged today for about 2 hours and noticed these symptoms yet again), my nose is like, "wtf?" It is still in "panic" mode, thinking that there is something wrong, when really I have effectively boosted my immune system/regained proper blood flow to that part of my nose. Somehow, I notice this change by way of these so-called "nasal twitching."

On another note, I also jumped to the conclusion about a year ago that it was due to excessive caffeine use and stress, which I DO worry about. However, I do not believe anymore that this is really the cause of nasal twitchings, nor am I ready to give up my daily dose of EGCGs from the 5 or so cups of green tea I drink daily. The potential health benefits IMO far outweigh the possibility that caffeine is making my nose a little bigger. :-)

I will say conclusively, that it was a HUGE mistake to ever stop exercising for an extended period of time. . That is likely the primary cause. Toxins were allowed to build up in my nasal passage because my body wasn't given the energy/blood flow it needed to clean them up. With proper diet, daily exercise, and hopefully a better sleeping pattern (still working on that one) I believe that these symptoms will go away in time.

I hope this helps someone make a better choice for a healthier future!

This twitching in the nose started about a month ago for me. It is not constant but at times includes tingling in the upper lip area.

I would like to give some background to my health issues over the last year, to see if there are any commonalities between me and the rest of you. I am female and over 50, so menopause is often blamed for everything, but I don't think this is related.

I had, what I think, was whooping cough or something similar over a year ago. It started with dizziness and then within a week or two, I developed a cough, one that shook my very core. By the time I was referred to a specialist, it was too late to test for whooping cough, but apparently it is on the rise, since boosters are needed and I don't think they are being given. Every time somebody got dizzy, I would tell them, wait a week or so and you will start coughing like you can't catch your breath....and they did. It was accompanied with a 5 pound weight loss almost immediately and many others encountered the same thing. I am giving this background because I am wondering if this is a continuation of some mutation of whooping cough. If nobody else experienced any of the above, than I know it is not part of the whooping cough. My cough lasted almost eight months.

Another idea, shrimp or other shellfish that were harvested in red tide can have toxins that cause partial paralysis. I think this is the time of the year I had a severe reaction to such shrimp in a lobster sauce. That caused slight paralysis/tingling in my upper lip. Red tide is more prevalent certain times of year per my recollection.

Another idea. hormones...don't laugh my nose throbs during sex.

I found a previous post that was interesting, something to do with the lining of the heart. I have felt my heart palpitating more these days. I have a slight aneurysm of the aorta and I am hoping this is not the cause, but the other post made me wonder about heart conditions. Of course, we are all stressed because the economy is teetering, so that might be a stress issue. But the other post had some inflammation.

Another post was interesting about Lymes disease. I have been tested for it and the results were inconclusive. However, I also have non-specific white spots on the brain which can be Lymes disease or MS or maybe even migraines. The doctor didn't do any further testing as my symptoms were mild, but dizziness and vision problems and weakness in the legs were other symptoms. So, if any of you can squeeze an MRI of your brain out of your insurance company, it would be interesting to see if any of you have non-specific white spots.

When identifying whether it is a pulse or twitching, do not use the thumb...as I understand it has its own pulse. I think you are supposed to use the index and middle fingers.

Well, mine didn't start twitching until I went to dog grooming school and it was stressful to say the least, so I blame it on stress. It quit doing it for several months and now it's back, but I'm always stressed out and have been excersizing a lot too. Maybe there's a connection with those two things. I'm sure it's stress.
Mine twitches on either side. Now it's twitching on the right side. I get so annoyed that I pinch my own nose! I'm constantly wiggling my face around. I can see it from the corner of my eye and anyway, it's just freakin annoying.
I was actually cracking up laughing while reading all these posts. Thinking I would find out that it's something serious, or heart related. My favorite post was the one who thought there might be a parasite in their nose...I have actually had that thought myself. I don't really believe that, but the thought had crossed my mind.
So, it's been a relief to see how many others have this annoying twitch like I do and hopefully someone will figure it out.

This is exactly how im feeling too....Even tho this is an extreme guess I feel this might be my problem....I recently got infected with herpes from kissing this girl its been like 4-5 months...Ive been keeping it under control naturally and its been pretty good. This twitch and exactly wat u explained above has been happening to me within the last few days. I just have his feeling that it is Herpes Encephalitis...which is basically herpes in the brain. It is very rare but if the herpes virus travels up ur nasal area this can happen. Now I bring this up because oral herpes is very common like 1 in every 4 ppl has it or somethin by their 30s and alot of ppl dont even kno they have it becasue they are asymptomatic or their recurring outbreaks r passed off as acne outbreaks. Im goin to tallk to my doctor about it...this pressure in my nasal area is causing weird headaches and im kindof concerned. One guest said he felt confusion etc. i feel like that at times too.Look it up urself ppl are known to have neural problems like these from Encephalitis. For the ppl that have seen this twitch and other symptoms come and go within months i think its the virus laying dormant and reoccuring again like all the other herpes viruses do. This version is really dangerous and should be treated immediately. I dont want to scare anyone with this im just giving my opionion of what I think it is and I personally will get to a doctor as soon as I can. I really hope that I'm wrong about myself and anyone else who has replied in this thread. Its worth a shot to at least ask ur doctor. I think it spread for me in my nasal area just from picking my nose cause i usually wet my finger a bit with my spit before...and i could had been having an outbreak at whatever time I did this etc. just a thought.
