I had the Novasure procedure done in Jan. of '12 and for me it was the best thing. I was 49 at the time so that may have played a part of such a good outcome for me. Before having the novasure procedure I had a D&C and that did nothing for my heavy periods. Actually, after the d&c, I endured 36 days of non-stop bleeding and I was ready for relief. My doctor told me that I had a couple of polyps which may have been a factor with my heavy periods. Since my op I haven't had a single episode of bleed and it's been well over a year. Good luck to any of you contemplating having the novasure procedure.

i have had heavy periods for years, they put me on birth control pills, which seemed to help but then caused serious blood clots in my lungs and legs. They took me off the pills and on blood thinners. So then I had my heavy periods back along which were now worse due to the blood thinners. I ended up having blood transfusions. I was referred to an OB/GYN who suggested Novasure. I had the procedure. It was quick and painless, I had some light cramping and bleeding for a day or so after. For the next 3 weeks I had the watery pinkish discharge as well as bladder leakage. I am now on my first period. It is lighter and still have clots which was surprising since I thought I would have nothing at all. I'm depressed that I still have to deal with it. I am hoping it will get lighter and even stop at some point.

I am almost 35 yrs old; and I had the Novasure in 2011. I luckily dont have a period anymore, which I wasnt
a heavy bleeder; but my periods were extremely painful when they arrived.
Now 2 years later I never have one anymore. I do spot once in a blue moon but it only last
a day. Now I'm experiencing almost every sign of early Menopause! So remember even though you may
never have another period again, what comes next? (MENOPAUSE)!! GOOD LUCK TO YOU~

i wish I would have read this before. had Nova Sure done 1 1/2 months ago and have felt terrible ever since. I have pain daily, bloating, watery pink discharge daily with a week of bright red bleeding and cramps just shy of kidney stone pain ( I have had stones 3 times). Yes, Yes, Yes my bleeding has decreased if that is what Nova Sure needs to push the procedure but now I can't get my gyno to take me seriously. I dont care if the bleeding is decreased I now have a whole new set of issues. I could have been recovered from a hysterectomy by now instead I call and get more Ultram and told I will feel better soon. Please discuss with your doctor if you have had any c-sections or fibroids because after calling another GYN I found that women who have tend to have the highest failure rate. (i HAD 2 SECTIONS AND 3 FIBROIDS) It's continues to be my nightmare and I wish you all luck. Change doctors and don't look back. Your right and they are wrong. Just getting your uterus out DOES NOT put you in menopause because you have your ovaries so don't suffer. Menopause will still be a battle to fight but not now. DOCTOR DOES NOT KNOW BEST!!!!

Okay. I'm scared. I had the procedure done Feb. 2007. Hardly any bleeding until 2the and since then it's EVERY time me and my husband have intercourse. Well I had my first Pap smear last week since 2007 (lack of ins) and I started bleeding during the exam and had EXTREME cramping afterwards. Well my NEW ob/gyn is wanting an ultrasound. That's tomorrow. After reading all these post I'm wondering if this procedure is what is causing my problems. Hysterectomy? Okay I'm not having anymore kids but I'm a waitress...weeks out of work? Impossible.

I also had this surgery 2 years ago. i was told i could actually wear white during my period, after the surgery. i was so excited!
As of now i have yet to wear white. i now have labor pain cramps. Between my grind hurts like hell...two weeks before my period. and when my period cycle is done i go through that pain all over again for at least 2 days after. i wish i never did this.
I was told this will take care of all my bleeding and cramps..All i would have to take.. is a tylenol. BOY!.. DID I GET A SURPRISE OF MYY LFE. I am now in more pain than i was before. My emotions is actually worst than it was before the surgery.
I am in constant labor cramps and cant even move when this happens. scared to go anywere during this time, because you never know when this SEVERE cramp will sneak up on you. I did not even know i should have never had this surgery if my tubes were tied. There should be a lawsuit against this surgery. side affects is one thing.....but ruining someones life is another. This pain is not an inconvience, its a nightmare.

I had the ablation, biopsy and hysteroscopy done in May 2013, and I have bled ever since, I had an infection about 3 weeks later and then another infection last week. My doctor gave me transexamic acid and mefanimic acid, then another one gave me norethisterone, then I got antibiotics.
The pain is absolutely terribly, and I don't really care about the bloatedness, then I went back about the pain, and got loads of pain killers, and are not doing a thing for me.
Starting to lose small clots today and I have well and truly had enough. Going back to see my gynae at the end of August and that will be just over 3 months after my surgery.
8 weeks of a period is just not good.
I had the ablation as I had 2 6/7 cm fibroids and depo/pill, embolisation just did not work. I am 35

I had this done October of 2010. I had no periods the entire time! I was so happy, I loved this procedure and I even reccomended to several friends. Out of the blue last month I started to bleed?! It only lasted couple days and never enough to soak a tampon, but enough to ruin my jeans if didn't use something. I started bleeding again this month and thought, wow, my periods came back... But this month it seems I spot for a day and a half then nothing, two days later it happens again... This is the second week of the two day on two day off cycle and it is driving me crazy! Has anyone heard of this? Other than this new developement, I would still reccomend to anyone.

It's no accident that I have ran across this. I had the NovaSure in 2006. I feel as though I'm going through the same. I started having heavy periods again in 2011. I started taking over the counter pain meds to ease the cramps, well that worked for a about a year. In 2012 the cramps started to get intense to the point where I had to be prescribed 800 mg of Ibprofen. Well, here I am now in 2013 still taking Ibprofen, the cramps have gotten so bad that I want to open my stomach and pull out my own female organs. I get so sick to the point where I want to die. I have no energy during my cycle and after it. I can't even eat during the first few days of my cycle. I got so sick last month that I ended up in the ER, it was bad. I had to leave because I couldn't sit still and wait for the Dr. I had my husband drive me home took a hot bath and put on some fresh pj's and put a heating pad on my stomach.

I had the NovaSure procedure along with tubal ligation in 2005 at the age of 33 to stop heavy bleeding and long periods and for the first couple of years I had no problems at all, no bleeding or spotting or cramping. Within the third year I started having severe cramping with my monthly cycles that required constant ibuprofen for 3-4 days at a time. I eventually overused Ibuprofen and developed stomach ulcers. My OB/GYN found a small cyst in my ovary in an ultrasound and recommended birth control pills to stop my cycles. He claimed this is where my pain was coming from so for the next year I dealt with weight gain, hair loss, and emotional roller coaster rides until I decided to stop taking the pills and manage the pain again instead. Immediately the pains were back, and worse, completely debilitating at times and sometimes I have light bleeding. These episodes last for 3 - 10 days, come with horrible headaches, and some days I lie in the dark with a heating pad and cry for hours with no relief. My abdomen is distended, I have gained 20 unexplained pounds in the past 4 years and I have finally gone to another dr. for a second opinion. This new dr. has told me about the NovaSure issue, and that 50% of the women who have had the procedure are experiencing blood buildup behind the uterus wall, that the permanent resolution is a hysterectomy. I am 41 now, I have decided that I am close enough to menopause that I may as well wait it out. But my dr. has made it clear to me that the pain will continue, the blood is builds up in the uterus wall, likely is backup into the tube that is cut on the left side causing the severe pain. She has recently prescribed a lidocaine patch to apply locally for pain - I am going to try that next. I am interested in any information that anyone can forward me on this topic to help me find a way to live with this miserable pain. Please let me know.
