I had the procedure done Dec 2010. I have not had any weight gain and I am also a bodybuilder perse. I do the Figure Division and I did not have any weight issue before nor after the procedure. I'd look into getting a test panel done on hormone levels and what not and see IF maybe there is another issue at hand. I have a slight period still but it is 200% better than what I had before hand. Every few months I have a day where I may have more bleeding than normal but then most of the time I don't have much of a cyle. I'm just glad to be able to train daily and not have that week interruption of my daily activities and life. This was definitely a very good decision on my part to do. I have a sister that did the same procedure 3 year before I did it and she has a day of spotting, if that. She didn't have any issues with weight gain either. I feel that you should do your research and be sure you have a known and reputable doctor doing this procedure. I was referred to one of the best doctors in my metroplex area. You should know what you are getting into and fully understand any risks, side effects, post op symptoms and any other things that come to mind. Every woman is different and therefore, every result is different. Make this decision your own and do not base it on other women and their experience. Although, the knowledge of what to expect is useful, do not base your decision on that alone.
Every woman has different symptoms for their periods, child birth, and what not. We are a very complex creatures!! Learn about your body and how it functions best day by day. I find that women do not listen to their bodies but base things on what other women do or go through. I think that is a big mistake. Listen to yours and make a good sound decision. Good luck!!

I had the Novasure procedure done April 18,2011 along with a D&C and tuba-ligation. I went through the surgery just fine, had minimum cramping and had the discharge for about 4 weeks. I felt great after that and my periods have came to a total stop. Fast forward a year later, I am having bad pains in my uterus, ovaries that radiates down into my upper legs, lower back/tailbone area, groins and vaginal area. My breast also swells, becomes painful and hot feeling right around the time I used to have a period and I bloat like I'm 4 months pregnant! The pains seems to be present all month long but worse when I'm ovulating or right when I'm supposed to have a period. When the stomach pains first started I thought I had the stomach flu, but then the pains kept getting stronger to the point I went to the emergency room. While there they checked me for appendicitis, kidney, bladder, gallbladder and liver stones which all came out fine and they sent me home saying it was a stomach bug and I had no infection in my body. I got curious and started researching my pains on-line and was horrid to see that so many other women are having the exact same issues I'm having! I tried to call my primary care (old one now) and she couldn't see me till the second week of September so I went and got a new doctor I get to see on the 27Th. I can't go back to the OBGYN that did my surgery, his officer is no longer in my insurance's "network" and will only send me if I get a referral form my primary care. The only thing that brings me relief at the moment is a heating pad, Motrin and warm bath soaks. I also got into a discussion with a friend of mine that had the same procedure done in October. I lost touch with her for a few months and when I re-connected with her she was telling me that she had the opposite, she bled like a hog and had the exact same pains. Just like the rest of the women I have encountered and read on the blogs she had to have a hysterectomy on New Years day this year. I'm hoping that this new doctor will be able to shed some light on what's going on inside me, this pain is about to drive me nuts. I have no energy, I'm tired all the time, moody and I'm tired of feeling like this!:'(

Well all, I figure I would update people on here of what's going on with me. April of this year I had a few small minor cramps in my lower stomach near my right ovary but I didn't think anything of it as I have a history of cyst. Each month they've gotten worse and worse. This month was total hell, I couldn't walk, severe back and lower abdominal pains that radiated into my upper legs, lost 15 pounds, vomiting and non stop crying and praying to God for help. 4 E.R trips later finally a doctor does an ultrasound on me. The last 3 E.R trips I was treated like c**p,even being labeled a pill-head by the nursing staff and finding out I'm allergic to Morphine! I've had 2 C.T scans done on me, one normal and one contrasted and both showed an enlarged uterus but was told I'm fine or I had a UTI! The last E.R visit at a different hospital form the last 3, I was describing the pains to the doctor and he told me to stop where I was at and that he wanted an ultrasound ran,he's herd of this before! The ultrasound found that I had 10mm of trapped fluids between the scar tissue and uterus wall, a 1.6cm cyst in my right ovary and 8mm cyst inside my uterus! When he came back and told me all of this I started to cry. He thought my pain was coming back but I told him no I'm crying because someone finally knows what the hell is wrong with me and it's not in my head like everyone else was telling me it was. To me it's bittersweet, I know what's wrong with me but at the same time I'm scared about possibly having to have a total hysterectomy at 29 years old. In all do honesty if I would have known this was going to be my outcome and hearing stories of other women suffering like me, I would have never done this surgery. I plan on sitting down after this is all said and done and writing a long letter to the FDA, the owners of the NovaSure machine and anyone else I can think of, they should know what this is doing to women and how it's tearing people's lives apart.:'(
