;-| I'm 2 weeks post op from having a total hysterectomy(including loosing my right ovary, both tubes and my cervix) because of the NovaSure ablation. Not only did my cervix get burned shut but my uterus was also heat fused to my small intestines as well as with all the trauma my body went through in that area because of having it done it took 2 hours longer to do my surgery. The doctor had to pull adhesions off my bowel, small intestines, bladder, colon, rectum and pelvic floor, they were growing from my uterus in teh thin spots where the doctor over burnt. I'm still waiting pathology reports to take to my lawyer and to the FDA. I hope to the ones saying they feel great continue to do so and no trouble comes out of it. Mine hit me almost 2 years after and several of the otehr NovaSure ablation failure women I've talked to has had it happen later on to them. Be careful and keep an eye out on your body! :'(

I was told by my doctor about this procedure.  If my insurance covers it he wants to perform it.  I just had an irregular pap and am a little nervous because it says not to have this procedure if you may have cancer.  The dr is doing a colposcopy and biopsy before the procedure, and I was hoping to have everything done in one day...now I'm a little nervous....maybe I shouldn't have it done....I also have MS and Fibromyalgia...I am hoping this doesn't effect these diseases!

Sweetie, if your nervous about it then don't do it. I have talked to a few women who had this procedure done with Fibromyalgia that had complications and they are in more pain and take harder to heal from it. Honestly maybe you should look into a second opinion and don't let this doctor force the NovaSure on you. I hope and pray everything comes out just fine for you and that it was just a false reading <3

It sounds like the doctor didn't get a full global burn and your lining grew back in clumps. That's what happened to me but since my cervix was burnt shut there was no place for it to go except for back flooding into the fallopian tubes but even that stopped when it hit my tubal ligation clips. I also had my uterus heat fused to my small intestines and several adhesion's growing due to the doctor screwing up. You might want to go talk to your obgyn about this, you might have to have a D&C performed to thin the lining back out but even that's not a true fix,

I had the procedure 02/07/13. We are all different but before the procedure, I was reading a lot on the internet about it and got scared and wanted to have it done under anesthesia but I would have had to wait even longer, so I went ahead with the procedure in my doctors office. Yes, it hurt a bit but it was over fast. I am so glad I didn't have it done in the hospital because it would have cost a lot and in my opinion, wasn't necessary. I wanted to post this because I had been afraid of not having it done under anesthesia because so many posts I had read. The decision is yours but wanted to share. I kept waiting for cramping or nasty smelling discharge. I worried about not being able to use a tampon just after the procedure, but the discharge amount wasn't as bad as I thought. Bottom line for me, I am glad I had the procedure even though I do not know yet if my periods are gone forever or even will be lightened.

I had the procedure done 4 weeks ago. I am still experiences bloody, clotty discharge. My doctor says it is completely normal and can last up to 6 weeks sometimes longer. It is extremely discouraging. I also have noticed a bit of weight gain, not much, only like 3-5 lbs and it mostly feels like bloating pms type weight gain...but again very discouraging.  My husband and I have (or had) a very active intimate life and this is really hindering it. Can someone please let me know if they have experience similar long term symptons like this. I need some encouragement that this will someday go away.

Thanks for the update. If the pain in my lower right side by my ovary and my back continue to hurt im going to go to a new Dr. to get their take on what is going on instead of my original Dr who did the procedure telling me im ok.

I'm going throw the same thing. I've been dealing with this terrible pain for two years now. i went yesterday to a different dr. cuz the first one couldn't find anything wrong expect he said I had a fibroid..but he said that shouldn't be giving me all that pain. I've had two ultrasounds a ct scan and still nothing found. When i talked with new Dr. she said, it's called post ablation symptoms. That means that my cervix and both tubes are completely closed and the bleed has no where to go and now I have to have Hysterectomy.

Hi Guest, I am so sorry that you had to suffer through this mess. I am 8 weeks post op from having a total hysterectomy including the removal of my cervix and right ovary because of Post Tubal Ligation Ablation Syndrome. No lawyer in my area will handle my medical malpractice suit because I have it in writing that the stupid doctor did the metal clips first then did the ablation resulting in burning my uterus to my intestines as well as burning my cervix shut! When you go in for your hysterectomy sweetie, please have the doctors check you for adhesion's on your surrounding organs, this is common thing happening to women who have had this done! I had adhesion's removed from my rectum, bladder, colon, bowels and small intestines all caused by the ablation. I wish you the best of luck, love and prayers are with you sweetie! Lambchops

I have had my procedure done in 2011 now in march of 2013 I am in great pain it actually started about 6 months ago. I have camping backache pain down my thigh and in my groin all on the same side. it is horrible at first it was once in a while a couple hours each episode, and progressed to 5 to 7 day at a time to pretty much constant, maybe a day or two break then right back to hurting. I have had ultra sounds blood work and antibiotic. no answers and no changes. I haven't had a period since post surgery. but let me just say no one warned me about the mood swings the fatigue and omg the constant irritability. (of course that could be from being in pain all the time now) I am currently taking pain meds around the clock just to manage the pain.

I have a doc. apt next week with a new doctor NOT the Doc that did this to me! Any suggestions or anyone else have these issue?

Thanks!

Hi katy, II had the same problem like many other women have had with the ablation. Mine resulted in having to have a total hysterectomy including the removal of my right ovary and cervix. We have a condition called Post Ablation syndrome. I was finally diagnosed with Post Tubal Ligation Ablation syndrome as I had a tubal ligation done at the same time. What happens is the cervix is either burnt or scarred shut which is blocking blood from escaping the uterus which results in it back flooding up into the fallopian tubes. the pains that run through the groins are caused by the pressure being put on your sciatic nerve. My pains became so bad to the point that I almost committed suicide because nothing was bringing me relief and no one could figure out what was causing it. As you can see I'm alive today because I was blessed with a doctor who knew what was going on and the situation was corrected. Have your doctor run a trans-vaginal/abdominal ultrasound, that's how they found the trapped fluids in me as a CAT scan never showed anything! Also I've talked with a few other women who had luck in finding fluid build up with an MRI being done. If you do go in for any kind of surgery to correct this, please have them check you for adhesion's, they can happen with having the ablation!!! I wish you the best of luck and you are in my thoughts and prayers, I know the pain well and no woman should ever have to suffer this!

I also had Novasure carried out recently -4 weeks ago, with tubes tied, This was due to Endometriosis, excessiveley heavy period & polyps. I am 38 and has 22 operations since I was 18 for endometriosis. This was my last attempt before having a hysterectomy and the Dr assured my it was a quick op and I'd be up and about the within hours, then I would have no periods ever! down side I couldnt ever have kids however Im lucky enough to be blessed with two boys - which after all these operations is a miracle!.

I woke up after the op in the most excrutiating pain i have EVER felt - even over two labours! it was horrendous, I spent five hours in recovery whilst they pumped me full over ever drug they could - and nothing took the pain away and it was clear they had no idea what the problem was. I can only explain it like contractions - Anyway after load of morphine & ketamine they decided to keep me in and it wasn;t until the next day that the pain subsided slightly.

I have been through a serious of strange symptoms since then , my period started the same day as the op and when i woke up it was gone - which was a good thing - bit odd though! After wards I had a greeny/yellow discharge which had an disgusting foul smell! this stayed for 2 weeks and changed in colour to red mucusy type discharge. The Pain and cramps and back pain have been there since the op, I went back to the dr and the said that everything was normal- give it time.

So I've carried on with my two - three pads a day, swollen belly, back aches, I cant stand for very long as I start to feel faint, I have stabbing pains where the tubes where tied and weird flutterings in my uterus ! I have now bled (albeit not a normal clotty bleed) for 4 weeks and am absolutely exhausted.

Today my period was meant to start and I have had all the hormonal symptoms so far, I am not sure if I am going to bleed heavlily - but I will be extremely disappointed if do!

I have no idea the long terms benefits of this, however I am annoyed that the surgeon made this proceedure (with its glossy sales brochure) out to be a walk in the park - and in hospital I was made to feel like I was putting it on - one Dr told me I was being over sensitive! I wish I found this site prior to having the op and I would just have had a hysterectomy - Novasure on the face of it seem a simple, straightforward solution - but behind the scenes there are strange symptoms and the imbalance is causes is bizarre!!

mansaclaire, when you had your tubes tied did they use the fulshie clips which are metal? It's not posted in the actual pamphlet but on their website tucked away under the professional care providers section it states that you cannot have any metal inside your uterine or abdomen at the time of the ablation as it can cause radiating burning! I had the same thing done as you except for I also had a D&C performed. At first everything was so wonderful no periods and then a year afterward the pains hit me. I am 2 months post-op from having a total hysterectomy and I feel great now finally. When the doctor went in he found out that I had adhesion's that were caused by the surgery as well as my uterus was fused to my intestines and my cervix was burnt shut. If you start having extreme pains that are stronger than natural child birth and don't have an actually period for few months after your procedure please have your doctor do an ultrasound on you. CT scans will not show trapped blood inside your uterine cavity. I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this, there are so many women out there that are suffering because of this procedure. It's not all rainbows and roses, it's more like turds and rocks! LOL
