I have had the exact same problem as OP. Left hand, outer edge of thumb, from 1st joint to fingernail. Basically on 1/4th-1/2 of my thumb, it feels "asleep". Only difference is that I haven't done anything with that hand. I type a lot, however the days before this happened, I wasn't doing near as much typing as normal. So I'm not quite sure why it happened to me.

My thumb went numb after a night of heavy drinking, and girl problems.
Anybody else have the same thing?
Yesterday I was writing with a biro in exams for about six hours and the pen pressed down on the bottom part of my thumb on the inside and it won't stop tingling (just on the right side) Its been nearly a day and its not going!
Did anyone ever get an answer to any of these questions. I also used scissors on heavy material 3 weeks ago and still have numbness and pain in my right thumb. It is not getting better or going away. Looking for an answer.
This is so weird that I stumbled on this post. For the past few days I've been experiencing numbness in my left thumb on the bottom part of it when I touch it. Annnd it also started happening after an hour of cutting thjngs with scissors. It must be something to do with the nerves. I'll have to ask my doctor about this next week and will let everyone know!

Hey im 16 and i cut my self on some glass and my left thumb i cant feel half of it, this happen 5 days ago and it still hasent gone away yet.
! Same thing, started working using a dremel type tool, for buffing and polishing plastic car parts, worked two 12 hours days, and now have 4 days of nonstop numbness in right thumb. I still have to go back to work doing this so hope it will one day go away.
It has now been 3 weeks since I was cutting some card stock paper with scissors and had the left side of my right thumb go numb. I know that I must have damaged a nerve during this time, but it almost feels like the skin in that area is (I guess you would say dying)?? Is there anything that the doctor may have told you that can help with this feeling of numbness and tingling?
I would get this checked out- this sounds very much like carpal tunnel syndrome

When I woke up my left thumb from the tip to just past the center joint is numb. I thought I slept on it or something of that nature. I thought for sure after an hour it would go away. But, It's still numb now for over 2 hours. Anyone have a clue what it may be? I'm 53 & nervous now. Thanks. Maverick Arts USA.
