hi i got the same thing, i think it could be hiv, im waiting on test results[/quote

Hi, Last night in bed my whole left hand including the pinkie and across my back along my shoulders all had the same tingling numbness.I was alittle fightened.I got up & chewed a couple (4) 81mg. Aspirin. Was afraid I may be having a heart attack. Now this morning I'm having the pinkie left hand & arm tingling/numbness. Plan on going to Dr tomorrow. What makes you think it could be HIV I work in the Medical field never heard that one before. would you mind explaining to me. Maybe I should get tested too. Thanks. I do get the numbness in my left hand quite often. Never had last nights symptoms though. But, I do have a Heart problem with Irregular Heart Beat.
I have exactly the same issues. The one difference is that the numbness in my arm/hand/fingers started about 5 days AFTER I had a treatment, which was on June 17, for a problem with my back. I have had a back problem for years and have had numbness in my left foot and leg (mostly on the outside) and some pain and muscle spasms in my left thigh. This all started when I hurt my back so I figured it was a sciatica nerve issue. I have been waiting 2 years to see a neurologist and finally got in early this month. Over the past year I have had x-rays, Ct scans, Bone density scans etc.. to get prepared for the neurologist appointment. I am now waiting for a MRI. The treatment I am having is a freezing of portions of my spine to locate the problem area in my back. I will be getting different segments of my spine frozen over the next few months to locate the area. The neurologist started with one specific area as it showed a swelling of a disc in the CT scan. Right after the 2 freezing shots I felt uncomfortable tingling in my left foot/calf and thigh (mostly on outside). That night sleeping was uncomfortable as I was having a lot of tingling and muscle twitching in my leg. The next 2-3 days were mostly OK. Then the numbness in my hand/arm started. At first it was just when I was sleeping so I though the same thing everyone else has thought - slept on it wrong. However, it is now almost constant and is worse when sitting or lying down. I will be calling my neurologist tomorrow to let him know of this new development. So For any of you with these issues it seems as if it may be a problem located somewhere in your back. I will keep everyone posted.
---new--6-29-08-- I know this is odd ball, but I found an unsealed glue container in the house that was out-gassing for months.are you around glues or new plastics?
I am a 51 year old female. I get a dull pain or ache on the outside of my left arm. I wouldn't say it's numb but an ache and it happens a few times a month. It is the outside of my arm, from my shoulder through my elbow and to my pinkie and ring finger. I have a heart murmur so I am wondering if it from that.
My symptoms started a few days ago. i live in a mobile home and my husband and i noticed a moldy smell in our room. we have been sleeping on the couch in the living room till we get it looked at, so at first i thought it was a pinched nerve. also it started when i was on the computer sitting next to a window that we had just noticed water comming in at.

i am 28 not on any meds live in michigan possible mold exposure
Im 20, never been sexual active, so in my case an std could possibly be ruled out. About four days now i've had this tingling in my hand, fingers, and arm. It was up to my elbow a few days ago, but now its up to my shoulder. It's almost like my arm was asleep, and is in the 'waking up' stage, but hasnt woken up. (i have no idea what i did, i thought i may have slept wrong, but other than that, its come all of a sudden) It really doesnt hurt, but it is a bit swollen, and stiff at times. Its just really uncomfortable. I guess im gonna wait a few more days and see if it gets any better. I've noticed that a few of you have stated that its spread to your whole left side, and if mine spreads anymore then i suppose its doctor bound for me.

Lastnight i started a medicine called mobic. My dad a few left, and hopefully it'll help the swelling and end this tingling. (basing on the fact that its a pinched nerve due to an unknown swelling)
im a 19 year old male , woke up with my hand feeling numb then it spread all the way down my whole left side. i've had it for at least two weeks now. last week i had a shower and woke up on the floor and didnt know what happend. went to the doctors and they said possable siezure.
o.O I am amazed to have found this site/thread! Thought I was going nuts already!
About 2 and a half years ago I suddenly had this odd feeling in my jaw, like a dentist's novocaine shot, where it felt like my lip went numb but getting bigger. I looked in the mirror but saw no chance, but when I turned to leave I had no feeling in my left leg or arm! Went to ER, had all the tests, and continued to have tests throughout the first year until finally the neurologist pretty much dismissed me since he could not find what was the cause.
In the meantime, I've had to close my business and go on welfare to survive - can't claim disability due to no diagnosis!
No 2 and a half years later I am still numb on the whole left side, without sight in the left eye (only very cloudy like a fogged car window), and walking with a crutch trying to get by while giving hospice care to my ailing mother.
I've had MRIs, CTscans, TEE, and pretty much every other letter combination of tests to no avail. Even been sent to psych care - and on anti-depressants, which is helpful because it's terribly depressing to not know what is going on with your own body!
In energy-medicine circles they say I have issues with my feminine side, or with another female in my life, which is causing blockages on that side. Yes, I've tried everything!
I'll be watching this spot in hopes someone has a new idea to try so I can move along with my life.

quote="spriteyone"]Hi. I'm a 30yr old female. About 3 weeks ago I started experiencing numbness and tingling in my left arm and hand centered around my pinky. I brushed it off for a few days thinking I had pinched a nerve and it would go away. The numbness then spread to the entire left side of my body especially my toes, ear and mouth. I was sent to ER, CT and bloodwork came back fine. Told not to drive and see a neurologist for possible MS or other autoimmune disorder. MD ran more bloodwork, which also came back fine. Still have 2 weeks till Neuro appointment. Numbness is now centered again around left arm/hand, have had some weakness, inability to lift or grab things, exhaustion and memory problems as well as shooting pains in left leg.

The strange thing is my boyfriend reported today having some of the same symptoms. Namely, the numbness and tingling in left hand centered around pinky. Could this possibly be some sort of STD??
I am a 33 y/o female who was seen today for numbness and tingling which began in the left hand. It felt more like your hand would if you put a rubber band around your wrist and partially cut off circulation. It spread throughout my arm, and then I had the sensation in my toes on the left side of the body only. I also had light chest pain. I went to the ER, where they did an EKG, put my on a heart monitor and drew blood, before having a CT Scan done. I was released with very little knowledge of what was wrong with me, only knowing it was not a stroke or a heart attack. I am normally a healthy and active person. On top of it, I am very strong for my size, yet I have been reduced to barely being able to carry in a bag of groceries. I was put on a hefty dose of steroids for a week. The MD that treated me thought it could be one of several viruses that can cause this, but are temporary. They are typically related to Bells Palsy from what he said. After my round of steroids, I am to see my Primary care Physician and have a referral to a Neurologist for further testing.
I'm a 22 yr old female. as far back as i could remember, i've had what the doctor said was herpetic whitlow, a herpes related virus that breaks out every year or few.. it has rarely effected me, until last summer.. that time, it broke out worse than ever and the symptoms have only exceded.. now, i cannot grip anything with my left arm, i feel like a drunk person when i walk, i can't run anymore, cause i keep tripping and falling down, its like my left side is completely seperate from my right. my blood pressure is 120/80 on the R.. and 100/80 on the L. i've had mri/ct tests done, blood work.. everything's normal.. what's wrong??
i started seeing a homeopathic doctor, she said that all the drugs the dr.s gave me have pushed it further into my system, that it has only made the infection worse, which is why it comes back worse everytime.. but that doesn't explain the pain and weakness on the left side.. i want to give up, cause there's no answer..
Wow. I am absolutely amazed how many people suffer from the same kinds of symptoms. I have weakness on my left side, which started in my left thigh. Burning, tingling and numbness. Progressively became worse to the point where I can no longer run (and being in the Navy, I have to run). Difficulty in grabbing/holding on to things, cannot stand on or walk on my toes. Balance is off, gait is awkward and I have Clonus.

Have had multiple tests to rule out myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, etc. Had an MRI and found a pineal gland cyst, which I was told in 2006 it would only cause me insomnia. Found in my Google search of blogs that say otherwise. Contacting a new neuro to have his insight on the pineal gland cyst.

TO THE PERSON WHO POSTED ON 8/28/08 19:07 and stated you also had cloudy vision in your left eye. I was watching Mystery Diagnosis last night and it talked about a lady who had similar symptoms and cloudy vision. She spent ten years going to doctor after doctor and was watching t.v. one night when she came upon the Mystery Diagnosis show. She contacted the doctor in that show and made the appointment. It turned out she had a Vitamin B12 deficiency and now needs to be on weekly shots. Talk to your doctor to see if it could be something as simple as this.

If anyone has info on pineal cysts, please let me know. I've been dealing with this for four years now and am before the medical board and about to get kicked out of the Navy unless I come up with a diagnosis!

Thank you!

I have had numbness for around 2 months now. I am a 30 yr old male. It started when i was doing a workout at the gym. I was wearing my wedding ring at the time and had thought i hurt my from pressure on the ring and it would eventually go away. It has since spread to my ring finger and down the left hand side of my palm. I play guitar and my ability to do chords that previously were easy to me have now become impossible. My grip is quite weak also. I visited my local GP and have been adviced i have pinched a nerve somewhere in my arm. I am to see a specialist in the next week to determine what i can do. I will post any answer i have to my case if/ when..i find them out.

well...i went to a doctor who tested me for various things and what he told me was that it is in fact damage to my nerve in my elbow. this is caused mainly from leaning on it for extended periods ( like what i do while surfing the net, playing online poker etc...) i have been told to keep my arm straight when possible, mainly while sleeping (do this by wrapping my elbow in a towel or bandage loosely but enough to stop it being completly bent) and to not lean on my elbow ( which im finding rather hard to do, bad habit i guess..). ive been told that it should go back to normal in approx. 3/4 weeks depending how i follow the instruction. However if the symptoms continue, i can choose to have some surgey which entails moving the nerve slightly (which does not sound very appealing to me). i hope this info helps someone as i was initially very worried when i first came onto this site/forum, as i had no idea what was happening to me. i will however do a follow up post on here in 3/4weeks time informing of how the treatment has or has not worked. Take care and dont worry yourself too much(like i did) untill you actually see a doctor.
Well its been more than 3/4weeks but the numbness is gone...i never lean on my elbow anymore and it has not returned. Im back to normal
