I am a 21 year old male. for the past year and a half I've been experiencing a very foul sour odor from my groin area. i have been experiencing excessive sweating in that area. i am a very active individual and used to play basketball on a regular basis. my sweat never used to emit this sort of odor at all. The sweat is originating from the creases in the groin. its a very uncomfortable sensation. i have tried using powders, different soaps, and colognes. the odor is just so pungent that none of these helps for every long at all.

To describe the odor, i would say that it is just very sour. Period. It encompasses large areas and even though i take 2 showers everyday, there seems to be no improvement. it extremely embarrassing and is causing me a lot of anxiety. i don't go out or play sports anymore. i just go for runs on my own. i am not overweight. i stand at about 6"1 and am 170 lbs.

again, this has been occurring for about a year and a half, my family physician hasn't provided any help at all. i am a smoker and i also do not have any sexually transmitted diseases as i have been tested already. a main concern of mine is if this could be caused by over masturbation?

any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Try boric acid. It's an otc ointment. Sweat contains bacteria. Bacteria is an living organism and all living organisms defecate (pass waste) at some time. What you are smelling is the waste, and boric acid not only neutralizes the smell, but also kills the bacteria.

The odor could definitely be caused by bacteria – even when you shower every day, microorganisms can thrive in the genital area because of the warm, damp environment. One solution would be to try a penis health cream (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) containing vitamin A, which is a natural antibacterial and can help to eliminate odors from the penis and groin area. Smoking can also give sweat a sour smell, so you may want to seriously consider quitting.

There's this new product called ToppCock (google it!) which is especially formulated with silver nanoparticles, tea tree oil and aloe vera which get rid of odor-causing microorganisms  in men's crotch area. It is applied to man parts after showering and drying. The gel-based formulation makes it easily abosorbed by the skin keeping you clean and fresh without sticky residue.

On a similar page someone suggested using boric acid, and spraying your groin area, penis before and after your shower. I did this, and within a week I am sweet again downstairs, TRY IT. I had tried literally everything before.

We'll guy I have finally beaten this weird itchy nasty smelling rash in my groin. I've tried a lot of different stuff but this is exactly what I did and woke up and it was gone! 1. I shaved with a razor all around the area that was bothering me in the shower 2. Used normal body was like Axe but I used my hunting body wash that is antibacterial and scrubbed entire area 3. Allowed myself to dry and applied antibiotic ointment everywhere I just went crazy with it. Result- woke up itch free, rash free and most importantly SMELL free!!!

Hello. I suffered from this issue for years. It made my personal life very difficult, no soap, powder, deodorant, or other cleaning product helped. Then I stumbled upon Defense Soap and Defense Soap wipes. Defense Soap is about $4 a bar, so I just use it on the typically smelly parts of my body and use normal soap everywhere else. My routine is as followed: wash groin and anus region with Defense Soap. Scrub area, let sit for two minutes, rinse, and wash again. Dry off well after shower, make sure no area is wet. Then for extra effect, I wipe the same area with a defense soap wipe. Now I can go a whole day without any smells. It has changed my life.

I've had groin odor for 2 years . I've just started to experiment with natural cures my blood was to acidic and was supose to be on pro gout every day for rest of my life. Now all my blood acid levels are fixed! I stopped drinking alcohol 100% started drinking alcaline water only about 3 litres a day. My gp can't believe the turnaround it has also almost completely removed all my 7 fatty cists. Some were large now all are almost gone. I use natural peppermint tee 1 table spoon of good honey and natural apple cyder vinegar 2 teas a day. I had groin smell and figured this natural cyder vinegar is supper cure so I applied it to groin area 3 times a day and in day 2 there is no more smell it's been 1 week now and it's all cure

Hey guys came back to this page to help you out. I figured I had this same problem after I had sex with this nasty b***h that I don't think showered. Well come to find out I had an excessive sweating problem with a shiny sticky substance that seemed to never come off my sac until I figured out how to get rid of this problem. I've been to a dermatologist to figure out if this was an STD. Luckily no it wasn't, also did a fungal and bacterial swab. Turns out it wasn't fungal but they did find out that I had high levels of a certain type of bacteria. Staph think. But she said everyone has it but usually lower levels. I've been using therapeutic soap for the longest time that really doesn't work by itself, the only thing that seems to be working to get rid of this for good is that every time your sac gets sweaty and sticky to use 99% rubbing alcohol on some toilet paper and wipe it all over your sac multiple times a day. This seems to work efficiently at getting rid of the smelly sweaty sticky sac guys so I suggest it's worth a try, you can also use gold bond to keep them dry.

My male partner's groin smells so offensive that I gag trying to prevent a vomit reaction. Odour is so strong I can smell it (and gag) whenever his groin comes anywhere near me on same or similar height level. It's a major problem. If he brings me a cup of tea in bed, I have to cover the strong gag reaction as the smell of his groin goes past at near my head height (can't contemplate drinking the tea, just have to pretend it's too hot, can't bear the thought his fingers probably fished out the tea bag). Yes, his hands stink too, he is always tweaking his penis (clothed or not). His undies stink, I choke collecting them off floor, even the crotch of his slacks stink, I hold them at arms length to get them to the washing machine, trying not to vomit, the smell is so offensive.
He's tall, so if I'm sitting at a table and he walks over to me, to talk or sit down, I get full force of the stench coming at me at my head height. It is so hard to try to cover the gag response, to stop the desire to bolt, to try to cover any look of revulsion on my face. He's tall, very overweight, showers daily (for 1/2 an hour!, ?assume masturbating). Problem present some 20 years now. I used to get thrush afterwards if we had sex, now I avoid it like the plague,..also, can't hold my breath that long, would hate to vomit on him(not joking). Can't emphasis how nauseatingly foul the smell is. I have told him about it many times over the years, he sulks, but won't do anything about it. I've suggested dermatologist and gastroenterologists, but he won't go. I've suggested salt sitz baths, he won't do it. I've suggested anti thrush cream, won't try it, ...tried repeatedly to get him to wear PJ's(this is to help me, so I won't get hit with such a strong odour), he won't. He complains a lot about no sex, but I just can't stomach even being that close, I gag just when he flaps back the bedsheets and have to hold my breath and turn my head away as discretely as I can, it's really difficult. I've tried sodium bicarb and vinegar in the laundry wash, nappy san, dettol, mild and strong detergents. I've tried spraying our bedsheets with fragrances, with antibacterial sprays, hoping it might help cure the cause but it can't even mask the smell.
He wants sex,is very bitter at none, but won't treat the problem; he's a doctor but won't accept he needs to see one. Problem smells of both fungal thrush and sometimes faecal. I'm a nurse, I can tolerate a lot of bad odours, but this is off the scale. Help, help, what else can I do?

Should add, he also has really bad breath, and no one in the family can go near the toilet after he's been (it smells so bad we vacate all surrounding rooms), he farts a lot (really foul), belches a lot (foul smell). He also yawns a lot when he is talking (can yawn 3 times in a sentence!), yet sleeps soundly ... like a log (but snores). His immune system seems awesome, he rarely gets sick, and recovers extremely rapidly if gets a flu. Yet I have also wondered if he might have a liver problem (rarely drinks alcohol, non smoker), an organ problem, lactose or dairy intolerance (he insists he doesn't as I've repeatedly suggested testing), or some other medical problem. His liver enzymes went sky high when he had antimalarial tablets before going overseas years ago. If anyone out there can help, I'd be grateful

Next time there is a really, really bad smell, that you can't get away from (halitosis, fart, etc), notice that the natural reaction is to hold your breath. Remember: you can't get away. So, you are holding your breath, but doing so as discretely as possible because, being a nice person, you are trying desperately not to offend, ...eventually you just can't hold your breath any longer. Now, no matter how much you don't want to do it, OMG your body forces you to inhale a huge breath. Urggh!
...Even though you've been through this cycle before, no matter how hard you try to stop it, the natural reaction is: hold breath, turn blue, followed by reflex huge breath intake of foul air.
Please remember the curse of this cycle, as next time, while holding your breath, you might laugh, ...more inhaling and exhaling (uncontrollably) of that putrid smell....I hope you really enjoy it!

PS: For those that need "bad smell rescue": Supermarket is now selling CANESTON laundry liquid to kill funguses as well as bacteria.
