The orange oil may be excess fat that your body is passing. This is a side affect of Alli which I am taking and the same thing has happened to me. It's the extra fat that your body doesn't need. For you, it's happening naturally, for me it's because of Alli. If I ate better, it wouldn't happen.
I am takin g the product "Alli" which is an in hibitor which blocks the absorbtion of fat in the intestinal tract. It is a diet aid along with a low fat diet. They mentioned the side effects included oily stool, oily spotting and I notice orange oil spots along with the BM as well...so, sounds like mal-absorbtion to me but you should still seek PROFESSIONAL medical advice!
I just had that today. But I only eat sushi and nuts.
i am having the same issue -- spotting after gas and oily stool. I too at a whole bunch of cashews and almost nothing else the other day. Im going to call my doctor. You're right tho, this is not normal.
I think that excess oils and fats may be the problem, and the body may just be trying to get rid of them. Quite a few of you ate a lot of nuts before it happened. I have just started a vegan diet rich in nuts, and I have started having the same problem.
I feel better now that I know it happened to others who ate a lot of nuts.
Nuts are very oily and fatty. It makes sense.

Hey guys, it has to be the cashews, I basically just ate these for a day and had this same experience.. I noticed many others said something about cashews also...
still the ol MD is a good idea... keep us posted.
Thanks

I've had these symptoms for 2 weeks now. I just went to my doctor yesterday. She said it is because of the Hydroxycut I have been taking. Xenical also gives you the same effects. They stop your body from absorbing fat and it comes out in your stool. ;-)
I've had this same phenomenon of & on the last couple of weeks. Totally new & bizarre, but reading the other posts has me a little less troubled. I'm a 34 year old female athlete. I've been fighting a sinus infection & ear infection the last 3 weeks & have been on 2 rounds of antibiotics, allergy meds, 2 depamedral shots (sorry for the bad spelling; have no clue how to spell that!), and I eat alot of salmon & peanut butter. I don't think my orange oil droplets are from Olean or Olestra because I eat no processed package food. Maybe it's the fat combined with the antibiotics...? I do know that taking acidophilus (you can find these tablets with the vitamins) will help you keep your live/active/healthy bacteria in your stomach while on antibiotics or high protien diets. Look forward to reading the true answer to this puzzling problem %-) !
I just had a similar experience... glad other people have had the oily drops in their stool too- I've never had anything like this before and I was kind of freaking out. I also ate almost a whole tin of cashews yesterday and not a whole lot else, so I'm hoping that could be the cause since that seems to be a common thread here. I was a little concerned bc in a dance class yesterday (I'm a student at a musical theatre conservatory) I nearly fainted during class, but I'm hoping that is due to the fact that I hadn't eaten in several hours, and is unrelated to the oily poop incident.
I have been having this happen alot as well. I have been on a low cal/carb diet with little fat. I have to suppliment with mineral oils and fish oils. They work much the same as insol fiber and the oil spots are normal if not good.
i had oily stool today. yesterday i ate mcdonalds (crispy chicken sandwich, diet coke, fries, barbeque sauce), a jalapeno bagel with cream cheese, two sausages with mustard, cashews, applesauce..
i suspects its the cashews....

Was i really happy to read all these questions about the orange oil droplets?! Tot I have a rare case of intestine problem. I had it for 3 days and was really scared of passing gas coz I wud soiled my pants. Yeah, it came out that much! I had cod fish prior to the symptom and I read that might be the cause of the problem. Definitely won't eat cod again! Thanks friends1
Hi, I have experienced the same problem, and have seen my doctor, I don't have liver problems, bile problems or any other problem. I am currently on a low carb diet, one of the allowable snacks is cashews (or any othersort of un-salted nut) and the doctor has put it down to this, not an uncommon complaint with him recently as this new weight loss program is taking off in Australia. Hope this helps and ease's some people's minds. If you are worried though, see your doctor :-)
FYI - I just put it together mine started when I started taking the diet pill "Alli"
I just had the oily orange. weird.. Had to check it out and here's what I found online..
The most frequent explanations are malabsorbtion of fatty stuff (which indicates a liver/bile issue), the Olestra/Olean 'fat-blocker' food additive, diet pills, and a doctor suggested that it could have to do with a colon infection or palups..
One thing a came across a few times was.. cashews.
I made Indian food last night with about 2 cups of purreed cashews. Ate it for dinner, night snack, and lunch the next day.
Cashews are super fatty, and there could be something unique to their make up that creates an orange oil (the food was super orange) - unclear if its malabsortion of fat or just cashew oil.
Anyway, Online doctors definitely suggested an exam, but everyone posting online has said the doctors were stumped and it went nowhere. good luck!
