I'm 21 6"2' weighing in at 170lb. Its the first time I've ever seen it....though last night whilst watching a movie i gnawed my way through an entire family pack of cashews. I'm guessing i'm not diseased (regarding the oily doodah). Thanks for the help.
I have had this problem myself, once after eating a large amount of nuts, in my case cashews (which seems to happen to a great number of people) and another time from eating bacon. From what I have read it is caused when your body is not absorbing all of the fat in the food you are eating so it is expelled in your stool.
I would seek medical attention if this is happening often. It can be an indicator of digestive issues or gastrointestinal problems but I don't think once or twice is something to be too worried about. Of course if it is excessive or painful you should make an appointment with your doctor.
My solution is to incorporate more fruit/veg/grains into my diet and less fatty foods which have been favored for way too long! I figure it can't hurt, though cashews and I are done, which sucks since we were getting along so well until now!

hi i live in fiji and many here experience orange oil in stools apparently!! we have a fish called walu and also i think the cooking oil in the restaurant has the additive annato in it which lowers cholestrol so there,s the problem,i would say !!I think we with orange oil botty syndrome have great liver functions as we have obviously rid ourselves of the toxins associated, !!cheers and stop worrying as it is a normal thing for a lot of us,just not a lot of people admit to it!!
I'm so glad to hear this isn't just me. This has happened to me twice over the last couple of weeks and both times it was after eating cashew nuts and sushi. ( a whole can of cashews and quite a bit of sushi). What a load off my mind.
get tested for celiac disease or remove gluten from your diet
Well I'm so glad I found all you guys' and girls' comments, I was getting a bit concerned. I fortunately was at home, and let out what I thought was a bit of flatulence, and oh dear it was splatulence (sorry I couldn't resist), a brightish orange very oily substance. I wondered whether the spleen or some other organ was rupturing into the intestine, and such like dramatic worries. I am 48 and don't ever recall having seen this before. Interestingly I had a certain type of fish last night for the first time ever (it was really good fish). I also have slight liver damage due to having contracted hepatitis A in 1982. I was about to call the doctor but thanks to this excellent blog I'll see what happens. :$
omg... i was sitting here freaking out, considering going to the dr. first thing in the AM, and it's because of the olestra! lol so glad i don't have to go. i dont need anything else going wrong!
i have had this oil droplets problem for the past few days now. I completely concur that it is the nuts. I have been eating tons of nuts as of late and most everyone posting on here has said the same thing. The nuts i am eating are mixed variety including cashews which others have posted as well. I dont take any form of medication so it is very interesting that my body has decided to just not absorb the excess fat.
I am 5'9 165lbs athletic build (not overweight)
I dont find this to be a serious problem i will simply cut down on my nut intake.

Now I'm laughing. It wasn;t so funny that twice in the last two weeks I have been firing orange oil out of my ass. I thought I was dying, my liver and or pancreas had collapsed after several years on the booze and fags.
Turns out it's the fish at the new restaurant I love so much.

It wasn't so funny for two pairs of destroyed trousers and the poor taxi driver whose seat is now covered in ass-oil.
I'm thinking now of seeling my stools to Chevron next time I eat some butterfish or white tuna.

I just started reading about this today because my incidents started yesterday and again today. After reading some causes I blame my carb/fat inhibitors that I started taking again last week ( and the almonds). The weird thing is that I used to take the same diet pills when i was in college about 6 years ago and it never happened...that i can remember. It keeps some carbs and fat from being digested and absorbed by the body, therefore there's no other place it going to go other than out.
Fortunately I haven't had any "public disturbance" or anything too embarrassing happen but I am going to wait another couple days and see if it settles down. But yes I did freak out...at least it wasnt painful.
Its just weird that i notice it because usually i try to flush the toilet before i can get a chance to look down...dont know why i would want to..i guess its just a natural habit.

I just went to the bathroom and noticed these symptoms and it is scary, but i've noticed a pattern of people consuming nuts and go figure i started eating cashews a couple days ago and hadn't had them for a long time before that so its the only thing i can make sense of it but also i was reading that besides mallabsorbtion that there was also pancreatitus. I'm not sure whats going on I'm only 18 i don't want problems. I'm going to give my doc a ring and if i find anything out i will post.
Writing from a hotel in Santiago, Chile
I woke this morning with similar symptoms to those reported; some gas, oily orange / yellow droplets, and a few hours later, some sharp pain in my lower right side.
Yesterday, I had a small sampling of raw salmon, cooked clams, and 'loco' (abalone). Just a few bites of each. However, my entree was a very large serving of Chilean Sea Bass. Very tasty at the time.
Could the fish be causing this?
I had a lengthier GI problem 2 months ago, stomach-flu like that resulted in taking flagyl/cipro for a week, seemed to stop all of the problems.
Very worried - am here on business and live in Los Angeles.... Help!
So, I'm just eating bread and drinking flat Coke. Any other suggestions?

yup. it happened to me starting three days ago. i thought it was caused by a frozen dinner i had eaten. i'm very healthy and barely eat oily foods at all. i do, however, eat lots of nuts: cashews and almonds mostly. when i read other posts mentioning "cashews," a light bulb went off. i'm pretty sure that's the cause for me. "cashews"
My daughter ate a ton of cashews yesterday. Today she's had an oily orange discharge. After my initial concern, this post suggested nuts/cashews as the culprit. Sounds like we could be on to something.
My sister and I went out for dinner Saturday night and both had the same exact thing: some kind of white fish covered in crushed pecans and garlic bread with Whirl/garlic coating. She and I BOTH had the same orange oil! I've had it before, but it was more yellow previously. Bright yellow, in fact. This time it was bright orange and horribly smelly. Not like poop, but like some other ungodly scent that I can't believe resides in my stomach without me knowing! I had a lot of gas last night and on the last round of stinkers I thought, something feels smooth down there - yup - it was Super Orange Poo Gloss. Damn. There went those undies.
