I had massive tear repair (2.5cm) and decompression 7 weeks ago; physio stared 7 days post op, passive exercises started day 2 post op. Pretty close to full range of motion returned now and hardly any pain only when pushing through limits. Seeing consultant 8 weeks for green light on some strength work. I guess we are all different and perhaps to some degree depends on quality of surgeon. Just get the odd pangs of pain...

I feel your pain! I had a number of things done to my rotor cuff, collar bone, labrum tear, and bicep tendon cut (SLAP/PASTA/TENOTOMY/MUMFORD - some of the abbreviated terms for what I had). I'm on six weeks & have been in pain day/night. I only received 1.5 weeks worth of pain meds & was told to take Extra Strength Tylenol when I asked for a one week refill! Anybody having major surgery better make sure their doctors will take care of their pain, otherwise, they are out of luck man. I'm very ANGRY about the pain med situation for those of us who really need it.

had surgery 6/26/18 and I still have pain. I had a small tear which did not need repair, but had debridement of spurs on the rotator and clavicle. PT is done and I can now raise my arm above my head, but can barely do behind my back. Still aches and still have the pain. My doctor told me to make sure that I continue with the home excercises because this is what will help the most.

I sympathize you, after all those years, and still in daily pain. As you said, it's all about how your body heals, and how the PT goes. I am 4 weeks post op for RC tear repair. ROM has been rapidly progressing, but overdid the exercised abit, so increased pain and ROM dropped since last week. PT stopped all exercise this week due to inflammation. So, will have to start again from 1 or 2. What a set back! I take valerium root (bought from ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** posting of web addresses is not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use) and top up with melatonin (when needed) to help me sleep Every night. I am going to try CBD oil for pain relief. If it is successful, I will be able to do more robust PT.

Yesterday I experienced extreme itching and rash on the shoulder that I had rotator cuff surgery on 18 months ago. Should I be concerned or call the surgeon?

I am 13 weeks post surgery and have just begun the first stage of strengthening exercises with therapy bands. I was feeling quite well with doing passive resistance therapy but the new exercises have truly awakened the shoulder. At times the pain prevents me from finishing but I give it a rest and try again. My surgeon has released me and I'm doing the strengthening on my own with specific instructions and I follow them religiously. Raising my arm to shoulder height with the yellow band under my foot seems to be the worst. I've yet been able to make it more than half way. My doctor said it would be 10 months before being totally pain free and back to normal.
