I had a uti for 3 months, treated with all sorts of anti biotiocs and nothing helped in the end. However it stopped the severe burning feeling over time but I was left with constant going to the loo. I would drink some water or tea and then felt the urge to go to the loo. So I began to feel unable to hold on for a wee without a slight pain and discofort of the bladder. I then felt sore in my vagina, stopping me having sex with my partner. He checked my vagina and sore little sores. So 2 gp trips, 2 trips to sexual health clinic, no one could give me an answer. I was clear of sexual infections, so the women just told me it was in my head. And prescribed me a cream to put in my vagina to help the soreness after I had gone to the loo. ITS CALLED AQUEOUS CREAM BP 100G TOPICAL USE. IF ONE OF YOUR PAINS IS SORENESS IN THE VAGINA WHICH IS ACTUALLY YOUR UREATHA HOLE, THEN PUT THIS CREAM ON EVERYTIME YOU GO TO THE LOO. IT REALLY DOES HELP.
So another month went by and I thought I was going crazy... until I paid to go private. Worth the money... I should have done that sooner. £180.00 consultation with a urinolgist refered from my gp. He asked me a serious of questions and hey presto I had an answer. I can not tell you how relieved I felt. He said that due to my severe wee infection, and numerous tablets, I may have scarred myside of my bladder and ureatha track which has caused it to be narrowed. Hence the pain to wee still, the soreness in my vagina which has been getting me down, no sex life, and constantly needing the loo. Constricting ureatha syndrome. And 2 weeks later yesterday (18th) to be exact. I was in the clinic awaiting my CYSTOSCOPY and my operation on my ureatha.
It was really painful the first wee in hospital, I cried like a baby! It felt like it had been ripped out and put back in. The first wee their was blood and clots and yes hurt like hell. 5 wees later still pain but it was not as ad as the first. So I could tell, the more I went to the loo the better it was getting. I was given co-amoxiclav 125mg 21 tablets, AQUEOUS cream, and 3 days of ibuprofen 800mg slow realse tabs. Discharged after 6 hours all in all.
The pain has decreased and a hot bath does help. I can wee now with no much bother at all. Abit of soreness in my weehole but thats to be expected. Considering I had it operated on, it feels ok. But one thing I have noticed is that the dull ache in my bladder has gone. The urgency has gone... I think I just got used to alot of the symptoms over the time that it came second nature to me. Now this may work for others, it may not! Ill update again when I think Its sorted and let everyone know.
I FEEL SORRY TO ALL THE WOMEN READING THIS WHO IS SUFFERING FROM SYMPTOMS STILL.... THE THINGS I PICKED UP FROM MY EXPERIENCE SO FAR, IS GO PRIVATE... AND PAY.... THE GP'S DONT KNOW b****r ALL. THEY REALLY DONT. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH ONLINE BUT DONT LET SOME OF IT GET TO YOUR HEAD. WRITE DOWN YOUR SYMPTOMS SO WHEN YOU GO TO THE DOCTORS YOU WILL REMEMBER EVERYTHING. MINE WERE; FATIGUE, FREQ WEE'S, DULL ACHE IN BLADDER, PAIN WHEN TRYING TO HOLD A WEE, TAKING ONGER FOR THE WEE TO COME OUT, TRICKLING AT THE END OF THE WEE. SOMETIMES ESPECIALLY AT THE BEGINING BURNING, SHARP PAINS DURING AND AFTER WEE. a THROBBING AND PULSATING SENSATION ON MY VAGINA AFTER A WEE. FOLLOWERED BY ALL DAY SORENESS AND UNCOMFORTABLE SITTING, WALKING, TIGHT PANTS ON.
4 MONTHS OF THIS, A URIONOLIST TOLD ME IT WAS THE NARROWING OF MY URINE TRACK.
I do feel different down below I think this may have worked.
GOLDEN RULE is your still dealing with any of these, DRINK 2 LITRE MIN A DAY, ESPECIALLY MORNING, THE FIRST WEE IS MOST PAINFUL. Stay away from alot of sugar, and the worst is WINE! RED WINE bought on the soreness within 10 mins of drinking... even before I went to the loo.
Good luck ladies, if you need advice get in touch
Thanks so much for sharing
I'm 19 and for 9 months have been getting UTIs like mad. Whenever I sit up I get a sharp pain shooting up my urethra and it's like a constant burning, throbbing pain.
I've had numerous amounts of antibiotics and they do get rid of the UTI but all the other symptoms remain the same. It's getting me so depressed!
I've had ultrasounds and a cystoscopy, which I sobbed all the way through! It was the most pain I've ever experienced!
Turns out I have a narrow urethra? Just wondered if anybody else has the same diagnosis and if anything has changed after surgery?
WHOEVER STARTED THIS CONVERSATION... THANK YOU! <3
Its ok weeing, but still have abit of soreness in the ureatha. So Im drinking water, weeing loads and hoping the soreness will go completly. Seems like I have 2 days off then a day of soreness! Not happy but hopefully In a week I should be better and feeling back normal! No sex has driven me to pure depression and ive had this for 3 months. I will keep updating on here my progress! Ladies who are dealing with this dont give up!
I think that our bodies are not responding to anti biotics I think we are becoming resistsant to them. My ureatha is sore as Im writing this! HAS ANYONE HAD THIS AND BEEN CURED?
ALSO when you feel sore down below... start drinking water.... you need to flush it out! then get a hot bath and wash down below. Then take 2 IBPROFEN TABLETS AND 2 PARACETOMOL, THEN PUT SAVLON CREAM ON THE UREATHA... AND DRINK MORE WATER. ITS NOT A CURE BUT IT HELPS YOU THROUGH IT.
IM PRAYING THIS WILL CLEAR UP AS IM JUST SO FED UP! LOOKING FOR OTHER LADIES TO GET IN TOUCH WHO EITHER IS GOING THROUGH THIS OR HAS BEEN THROUGH THIS.

I've lost my job because of all of this and it's stopping me doing the things I want.
I've literally become attached to my microwaveable beanbag because it helps with the pain so much! Also cranberry capsules seem to be working pretty well too.
I think it's weird how so many of us have the same problem but noone knows exactly what it is.
I'm having similar problems and was wondering what type of meds your doctor put you on.
Thank you!
Stephanieee230- it's just a regular water infection, but sometimes it hurts if I've held myself (which I know I shouldn't!) because the pressure pushes my wee too fast down my narrow urethra and I imagine it stretches it or something because for the next hour I get a burning pain.
I hope this helps
Try for a week and see how you get on.
