I have experienced pain in my tailbone for the first time two weeks ago. I experienced my initial pain after having sex with my girlfriend. When I got out of bed, the tailbone started to hurt (no, my "backside" has never been messed with). The pain was very intense. A warm radiating sensation also has developed around the crack area.

Gradually, a few hours later the pain went away. However, the next morning, I started feeling the pain again and this time I became very weak. I'm not sure if it was the pain but I had no energy and wanted to go to sleep. It feels like I came down with a cold but eventually a few hours later it (pain and sick feeling) subsided.

A few days went by and no pain. However, it reappeared a few days later. The only remedy was to lie on my side(s) when I went to sleep. Sitting in a chair at work was uncomfortable. I also remember that I had a difficult time in the bathroom and produced very hard stools that were forced. Did this cause my pain?

Eventually, the pain disappeared and I was eating more healthy foods (Mom's cooking). My stools were normal and not hard.

However, things changed yesterday. Not sure if it's because I'm eating low to non fiber foods or if it's stress, but the pain reappeared at my work. The pain was horrible. It lasted for several hours where again I became very weak. My tailbone radiated with pain as well.

Anyone with similar experiences, please let me know. I'm freaking out! Need some help or possible answers.

hope this helps...im a 26yr old male i used to have a sharp pain which felt like it was right at the end of my tailbone it hurt very badly in the morning and seemed to dull down when i got moving throughout the day and then came back just as bad at night when i slowed down. i went to the doctor he gave me pain pills and told me it was inflammation or a pinched nerve. that did nothing and i was back there in a week, he told me he wasnt sure then and told me to maybe try a chiropractor so i did. the chiropractor told me my sacrum was out of wack and so was my sacroiliac joint. he told me he would have to see me 2 to 3 times a week to start then less often as we go, my insurance covered it so i would try anything. i am soooo happy to say this has worked i have been going for 2 months and im going once every 3 or 4 weeks now and i feel at about 99% better. i really hopes this helps someone cause i know how that pain felt and i know no one even the doctors knew what to do and i felt helpless....also make sure you go to a good chiropractor if you think your pain is the sacrum one that doesnt set you on a plan and just lets you come in whenever you want will not do it mine was very good he told me it was persistence that is the key

I have that same situation. Its on the tip pf the crack bad and it seems like the muscle on that area is contracting and Im not able to see any visible irritation, it seems like the pain is really coming from beneath my skin..it hurts like hell when you move. Im so concern about it. I dont know what to do. I had this problem for like 3-4 weeks now.

I had this problem. It started when I slipped and my butt landed badly on the floor. Since then the pain started and gets worse. One time I got a fever because of it and I started noticing. On the area where the pain is coming from, it seems like there is an inflammation but its beneath the skin. So I decided to do an x-ray (it was a pain in the butt like literally since I need to lie down and that really hurts). On the x-ray result, my coccyx bone doesn't show any fracture or anything. After 3 weeks the inflammation got bigger and painful so I decided to have myself admitted to the hospital. According to my doctor, by the time I fell my muscle was extremely hurt because of the impact, there was like an internal bleeding. The doctor called it "hematoma resulting to formation of abscess". I was operated. They cut open the part where the pain is coming from and took out the blood and green stuff out and by the way the wound was not closed. The doctor just advice me to let it heal itself so everything comes out. I was maintaining anti biotic and pain reliever by then. As of now Im still waiting for the wound to heal and hopefully everything will be ok.

I have a very similar pain. It flares up every few weeks or so and is in no way consistant. When it gets bad, though, I can feel a small lump right at the very top of my butt cheeks, about where my tailbone is. Coincidently, this is also where I have a lot of pain when I'm on my period, and have done since I was young.

I'm not sure it's the cyst thing, as I've never seen ANY puss or mucus, nor does it feel like there's any there. Just letting it be seems to make it go away and I've not noticed any particular circumstances that make it flare up.

It IS painful, but not terribly so, and I have quite a low pain tollerence so I suspect if it was really bad I'd be screaming. It does hurt more laying down or leaning back on my bed, but not when I'm sitting up straight.

Any thoughts?

i too have this exact pain. I don't know what it is. I thought it was piles but feels on outside and not inside. Hurts when I stand after sitting and need to sit forwards. Also can't sit in one place for too long. Muscles seem to object when I stand up. I don't like doctors either, but we do seem to be a lot of wimps, all complaining instead of getting fixed lol. Is it because we are scared of finding out potential bad news? Don't know, but will suffer along with everyone else!!

I can't see any injury or feel anything either. Sometimes feels like the bone is sore and sometimes the muscles. In exactly the place you describe too. I too have a high pain threshold, and it makes it hard to decide how sore it actually is.

It is affecting other things now. If I go to the gym I can't do anything where I have to put weight on that part. If I go on bike I have to lean forward. Can't do reclining bike as I would sit on the exact sore bit. Also can't use weight machines where you sit. If i sit at computer for too long, muscles around the area really hurt when I stand up. If anyone finds out what this is I will be eternally grateful!!

I am 15 years old and have the same pain, but quite different. I was running away from my brother who was going to hit me with a football and all of a sudden I fall on my butt and i feel a painfull numbness. I got up after with no pain. Later, I was sitting down watching T.V. and when I got up I felt a sharp pain in the same spot as you. (Same when I lie down, also when I cough) Now I can't train (TaeKwonDo) because when I twist my body to kick it hurts like a B*tch!!!:'(

I fell in the tub a few weeks ago. The pain is in my lower spine at butt crack area, it is also hurting on my butt cheek bone. If I sit forward no pain, if I sit upright on a chair I have excruciating pain. Sleeping is no problem. The longer I sit at my desk at work, the more severe the pain becomes. Any Ideas???

I've been having these exact symptoms and I've been to the doctors, had an MRI etc... But they can't find anything so I was wondering if you had ever found out what it was? I would be so thankful if you would please reply, Thank you.

Well I actually had pain similar to what your describing and I think I got my pain from wearing thongs. I know it sounds weird but if you wear things a lot. This might be the reason especially if they are too small or tight. Like the pain isn't actually in the crack where the hole is but it's at the very top (right). I'm guessing it may be from the strip of material from the thong rubbing and pressing against your skin. When my partner looked at it for me he said he saw like a weird little dot and it look kind of red.
