I get the same exact thing. It's your ribs out of place. Just need a good chiropractor and a decent pair of arch/heel supporting shoes. I've been through MRIs, X-rays and every pain reliever or muscle relaxer under the sun. The only thing that helps is the chiro. Wonder why my insurance pays thousands of dollars for all this fancy medical equipment but tells me my chiropractor isn't a real doctor and won't cover that treatment...

Back rib pain can be one of the most uncomfortable issues. Maybe I should say that you'd be lucky if your pain were only uncomfortable, a rib out can really hurt. It can be in the middle of your back, or it can be in the ribcage in front. It's not the spine, the pain is no where near it. Maybe it's a cough pain that really hurts when you sneeze. And, what is this deep breath pain about?

Whatever it is, you want to know what it is and how to deal with it.

Most likely, it's a rib subluxation -- a rib out of alignment.

A rib out of alignment is actually a fairly common occurrence. It's just that they usually go back into place on their own without you ever knowing that anything ever happened. Having a rib out that doesn't go back causes the muscles to tense up giving you your brand new back pain in the rib.

The ribs have joints where they connect with the sternum in front, and with the vertebra in back. They can shift up or down, though they have a usual pattern. It's when they get stuck that you have a rib misalignment that ends up causing pain.

You have a couple of options. One is that you can go to a chiropractor and have it put back into place. One issue people have with this is the cost involved. Another issue can be the pain a forceful adjustment can cause.

That pain can be avoided in most cases if you can find an activator chiropractor. An activator is a tool that knocks the joint back into place, usually painlessly. But, that still costs money.

Another option is that you could live with it until the muscles finally relax and the rib goes back into place naturally.

A massage therapist can sometimes get the muscles to relax enough that a gentle push will move the rib back. This isn't hard, but they would have to know how to do it. Or, if they help it relax enough it might go back on its own like it might usually do, but then there's that money issue again.

A final option is to put it back yourself. This really isn't that hard to do, but it does take knowledge. You can figure it out for yourself, others have. The best thing about that is that you can always avoid the cost of an adjustment. And, the method of putting it back yourself is very gentle and doesn't involve a crack at all

I have had the same pain for several weeks. I have Scleroderma with lung involvement and just had a case of pneumonia before the pain started. It ended up being pleurisy and pleural effusion. Good luck!

I have had severe under the right rib cage pain and all of these mentioned symptoms for several years. I have had all of the test. I'll mention just a few symptoms, tests and diagnosis, ie; G.I. tests, colonoscopy, Gallbladder, ect., high blood pressure, hyperthyroidism, IBS, GERD, fatty liver, hernia ect., additional symptoms, my back, ( shoulder blade and my upper and lower back), dizziness, kidneys, eyes, severe bloating, acid reflux, irritability, anxiety, all of the ones that have been mentioned, I can't believe that I had given up, when a friend started having symptoms also, so I started researching again, and there it was someone that said they went to the ER, with the really bad pains, ( that we've all been describing) the nurse had a cartiologist come in and visit with her, and the first question he asked was, "have you had pain under your right rib cage?". Her blood pressure was very high, something like 140/113, I can't remember exactly. I also have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. I don't take my pills right and the pain comes and goes, like it has always done, I never put the two together. While reading her blog, I was having the same pains and I took my blood pressure medicine, I couldn't believe it, no doctor has ever said that to me before. The pain went away! Maybe, after all the test have been done, and they're either negative, or that diagnose didn't help you with this (under the right rib cage) pain, this information might help you too, like it helped me.

Hello,
I had the surgery in Nov 1999 & had the same symptoms that you are describing. I run by accident into the so called famous surgeon that performed the removal & when I asked to talk to him briefly about my continuing pain. He commented that there is no reason to go visit him in his office because he knows what I have. I was floored by his comments. He said that either I have a Chronic torn muscle or a Leaky gut. I was about to die as he was taking the elevators. How come i did not hear all this before the surgery. I am fully discussed it & I have been saddly on pain pills since then. I know that this is not good news for you, It surely have not  been fun for me & my poor wife. His comments was more insulting " know how to live with it". He is glad that I did not have a sharp edge. My blood pressure is however OK.
So sorry.
This process has taken thru at least 70 doctors, yes 70. This coming Thursday I am going to see a Urologist friend & he will look more into my problems.
Google "torn muscles after gallbladder removal" or "Leaky gut after gall bladder removal".

I sincerely wish all of you the best. Please let me know if you strike gold on your end.

It's been a year since my gal bladder surgery and similar symptoms persist... I notice it more when I eat things like popcorn or drink a coke, I assume it's a gas related symptom

I know how you feel i just had my gallbladder out May 4th and here it is May 22nd and i'm having the same pain.. they said it is caused from not having a gallbladder to help digest all the food so your liver is having to do more work so your liver is getting over worked which is causing the pin they said just drink lots of water and it does help.. it comes and it goes. they also said there is not much they can do for it. you can do warm heat packs it helps with the pain and it could also be caused by cyst on the ovaries. i hope this helps..

you want to stay away from all fatty and greases food that can cause the pain to because your body can't handle it anymore as it could with your gall bladdder

I have a suggestion for you. Try avoid all food that causes gases. Google "food that causes gas". Also consult your physicians on taking "Gas Relief Ultra Strength" after a meal. Believe or not gas escapes and lodges itself in many part of the body. I hope that can alleviate your problem.
The real question if it is gas, how come this happening after your surgery?
I do have some theories about. Good luck.

I had my gall bladder taken out in march, about a month later the more I try to work out and get back into my normall routine it kills me. I can never breathe, hydrocodon and ibuprofen 600 won't even help it! My doctor thinks I'm faking, I'm sure. I think I've been 4 or 5 times since my surgery. I had every blood work they can thing of, I even had stool checked, nothing. I would love to find out what the heck is wrong with me too!

I have had thoracic pain for over a year and half now that has progressively gotten worse. Mine also now has moved to under the right shoulder blade and now ever further into the right rib cage area. I am in constant pain. I had MRI of T spine in Jan 2012 that was normal. CT scan of Abdomen 14 months ago that was normal. Labs are normal. I am so fed up with the pain and not knowing what else to do for it!! If anyone gets answers to their problems please let me know. I also have lost about 14 pounds in the last year. Gall bladder out in 2008. If I had one, I would think it was a gallbladder problem. No stones lodged in the ducts. No stones in the right kidney though the pain goes all the way into the right kidney at times. I also need answers!!

Maybe it is a scar tissue problem. At least that is one of the things they have told me. Surgeons (at least the one I have seen) have problems chasing scar tissues. I feel for you because I am going thru the same thing. Before I forget, some say it is the kind of mesh that they have used during the operation.

Take care and let me know.
