hi Bruce, I am reading your post and feel as if I wrote it myself? I really do not know where to go to anymore? Did you establish the cause of your problem?
go see a chiropractor...apparently RIBS can pop out of place causing pain! who knew?!
I really hope everyone who has gone through this easily solved but apparently no doc can diagnose prob sees this! (posting here because some people with some of these symptoms will end up here.)Hey guys I hope everyone with this issues sees this. You may have this to a lesser or more sever extant. I had pneumonia a little over a month ago and one day after not sleeping for days and days I woke up after taking what was not a smart amount of various medications to help me sleep and help my symptoms. Well, I slept but I woke up with the feeling I had been shot through and through from under my left rib cage and out the back. I feared that I damaged my liver and was so embarrassed I didn't go see anyone and lived in agony and off of left over pain killers for a good week or so. I couldn't lay on my front or back without it making it worse, when I ate right after each swallow it hurt really bad, I felt bloated right under my rib cage, and was easily out of breath. At times it felt like I was having a heart attack. I finally went in after being out of pain meds and the doc was really concerned. They did blood work and that was all find, so no worries about liver or gallbladder so she was concerned I had a pulmonary embolism but I had no other symptoms related to that. Still, she wanted a catscan to be sure but I wasn't about to pay for that. So I went home and did TONS of research. I came to the conclusion I had developed GERD. So I went and bought some over the counter 150 strength generic zantac to find out if that was my ailment. Sure enough after two days of taking it twice a day my symptoms pretty much went away. I stopped taking it to make sure I wasn't just better and it was a coincidence and yep after a day it came back. I called my Doc and she agreed (my thought is why didn't she realize this!?!?) So I started back up on a prescrip of same med and have been on it for the past week and pretty much prob free. If I forget to take my night dose I know because I start coughing which is another symptom because the acid is irritating your throat. I go take it and in about 30 min stop coughing. I hope this reaches and helps everyone scared to death by these symptoms like I was. It is a pretty cheap test to see if this is your issue without paying for all the other tests. HOWEVER! If you have a change in your stool like some people have said tarry looking or bloody GO TO THE DOCTOR because that is not GERD, that would likely be a peptic ulcer or something else similar which can be an emergency.
pregnancey makes gallbladder issues worse or show up if they were silent before...docs should know this! ultra sounds and bloodtests dont always show things...check out Cliffs Riffs a blog on the web and you will find many people who were feeling the same thing and they found a answer...i also did the same thing they did and my gallbladder shoulder pain neck pain , nausea, depressed feeling, heart racing, pain under the ribs on the right side was gone!!! Tho the doc had told me he found nothing and shrugged his sholders.... It is a cleanse involving olive oil and lemon and it is harmless to try and youll be surprised at how you feel afterward if you decide it is something you want to try. Some people prefer to take a back seat to their own health care and thats fine but hop in the drivers seat and open you mind and at least read the info...Cliffs Riffs and google olive oil and lemon gallbladder cleanse and read up on gluten sensitivities or intolerance or just read Wheat belly first! Then share your experience with people!!
I have had same pain for about 3 years off and on. I'm having it really bad the last week. The dr. can't find anything wrong, but I know my body and it hurts. I don't know what to do anymore. Hope you & I find out some answers soon.
It has been 3 months since this post, I thought I would give an update....The pain to breathe is still constant, however, the mixture of the Nucynta ER 2x a day, percocets and soma 3x a day make it toleralble most days, however, I am thinking I have worsened the disc buldges at L4, L5
I have dealt with for buldges at L4, L5 as well as in my neck at C4, C5 for about 9 years now. (I was a horse trainer/barrel racer for many years)
My lower back feels as if someone is pulling my hips apart if I stand more than 5 min. And if I sit longer than 10 min, I am so stiff getting up with sharpe pains in low back just below my waist.
Sooo,, my question is at this point in time (since they will not do surgery on T6-7, 7-8, 8-9, that are herniated saying surgery may make things worse, not better, ....but the dr says he can do something with my lower back and neck. Nerve block on L, 4 & L5 Is scheduled for Jan.30th due to the shooting pains runming down my buttox down my leg all the way to the bottom of my foot, causing swelling and numbness.
How do you know if you have caused a "buldged disc" to become a " hermiated" disc?
Hope you are well!
Sorry you are all having these undiagnosable pains. I had my gall bladder out 18 months ago and I could not and cannot wear a bra as i have pain/tightness in my abdomen that circles around to my back and my ribs are sore to touch, they burn which I am told is a sign of nerve pain, but the main pain is the cramping tightness in my upper stomach under my ribs on the my right side. Thankfully if I am lying down the pain goes mostly away. But i find it disturbing to not be able to wear a bra and to have all this cramping pain in my upper abdomen during the day when i am moving around. I had a CT scan and an ultrasound. I diagnosed myself with costocondhritis due to the rib pain, but that should have healed in 18 months, and it doesnt explain the abdominal and back pain and tightness. I have spent hours and hours looking for the source. I have seen an acupuncturist, a chiropractor and a massage therapist. I have gone gluten, caffiene and dairy free. I have had blood work done and short of dancing naked under a full moon, I think i have tried it all. Can anyone offer some suggestions that i may not have considered???
this honestly sounds similar to a problem that i had while on opiate pain medications. While DRs assured me it was not. If all blood work and tests have been negative i would suggest you explore the idea that possibly over time your body has gotten use to various forms of opiate pain medications and you might very well be in a degree of opiate withdrawal. If so taking pain medication only grants a bit of relief temporarily and then its back to the misery. Almost felt to me as if someone had taken a screwdriver and twisted it in under my ribs and at times under my shoulder blade.
Was diagnosed with THE MS HUG (MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS) 2 years after having my daughter pains started like a big teddy bear was hugging me and crushing my ribs, rang ambulance on few occasions thinking i was having a heart attack, during this time id had my gall bladder removed and diagnosed with gastritis, so that is why it took 2 years to find out my real problem, i kept being refered to gastrologist then finaly got referred to a neurologist and wow i wish i had seen this specialist in the first place, kind of feel neglected by my doctor for not listening to me and parming me of to hospitals, ms can be mild for some you do not need all symptoms, id defo recomend you see a neurologist for any pain in the upper ribs back etc
PCS manifests itself as a very intense, sharp pain, typically at the left side of the chest, (also can appear on right side), generally in the cartilage between the bones of the sternum and rib cage, which is worse when taking breaths. Patients often think that they are having a heart attack which causes them to panic. This pain typically lasts from 2 or 3 seconds to a few minutes, though, in some cases, they can persist for up to 30 minutes or even days. The frequency of episodes varies from patient to patient; sometimes occurring daily with multiple episodes each day, or on a less frequent basis with weeks, months, or even years between episodes. On rare occasions, breathing in or out suddenly will cause a small popping or cracking sensation in the chest, which results in the pain going away. In most cases the pain is resolved quickly and completely, and medication is not needed for the pain to subside. There is no known treatment or cure for PCS.[1]
